Welcome to the hanger life, we're definitely in a good region for it!
Well shoot, guess I'm gonna own one. Definitely don't see this as my primary stand due to the weight, but hoping it gets use, especially during events where I know I'll want an extended use chair.
I'm very interested in the ease of removing segments. Like can one get the camping version and easily convert it to chair mode mid-day?
The chair without legs never sinks...

Okay, the turtlebug does look really really neat... I am interested in how easy it is to remove segments. Could definitely see using one of these at an event where I want to sleep at night and use it...
I was trying to decide what to order from your site earlier today...
Welcome from another large PNW hanger!
I do consider removing my bed frequently as sleeping in a hammock is so much better...
Here's my current recommendation for a balance of price,...
Yeah, I think the Tensa is your goto here. Can the solo/treez be setup without having multiple well spaced guylines on a lower-friction surface?
Welcome. I started with an ENO Doublenest Deluxe and totally know what you mean about being buried. One other thing that is quite notable is that the ENO's are ~9ft long. You'll be amazed at how nice...
I'll take it.
Always great to see more hammockers around the PNW, welcome. It just makes so much sense with our lack of dry and level ground, but plethora of trees!
Could be convinced to head north for a hang. Considering heading south for the yeti...
Edit: oh wow, just noticed that this was a super necro thread. Usually not great to bump something many years...
I've noticed the lack of any activity on this side, suppose everyone is hanging in their own small groups already (*something something Seattle freeze*).
I'd be interested in attending a hang but...
I'm similar to sideshowraheem, haven't replaced anything and avoid washing gear. I suppose I've done a hammock hand wash before with sportswear detergent after a real funky trip.
I did recently...
I have been working on a similar project, trying to figure out a hammock solution that would look reasonable in 8th-11th century northern Europe. I've been considering something akin to the XX...
I went down a similar path and while I'll likely get a SLD at some point in the future, I landed on trying a more affordable hammock with basically all of the features I wanted as an intermediate...
Excited to make some videos for the Tensa4 and Solo conversion!
I really want to thank @Latherdome and @raftingtigger for coordinating a repair for my Tensa4. I picked up the tarp extension and Solo conversion kit at the same time, along with boom stakes and...
Yeah, leave it on. Technically because it is a finished edge, you could just do a single roll. Either way, it is going to unravel less if you keep it on.
I love these pictures @LowTech ! Getting excited for some summer bikepacking trips, especially since I just picked up the Tensa Solo conversion kit.
This is a bit OT but where do you keep your...
Congrats and thanks for providing a non IG option for folks here!
Yeap, they already posted about it in another thread.
Welcome!
Welcome! Always nice to see more WA folks :)
I rather like two-person hammocking, especially if it is cold out. The ENO DoubleNest Deluxe has done me fine, but I haven't tried any others. Do be...
I enjoyed the Lapp and definitely see advantages over Becket, so will probably be sticking with that.
A Lapp Loop is probably quite quick when practiced, I'll give that a shot in the future when...
@cmoulder I look forward to giving these knots a go tonight! I've been intrigued with the Lapp versus Beckett and really like how easy it seems to be fore teardown. Was wondering when you would use...
I've always been told that when it comes to sewing projects, if you can afford it, buy the extra yardage or risk a huge delay and/org unmatched fabric...
@SpitchGrizwald I see from the other threads that you've necro'd that you're familiar with MTHL. They are now stocking a 2" UHMWPE in whatever length you're looking for. I recently went for these in...
Very cool, but well out of my price range. Look forward to seeing one in person some day. That said, most hangs in this area come with plenty of trees.
Looking forward to the first DIY tutorial... if I get a few more projects behind me, I may give it a go. I've got a bunch of reinforced building wrap that I was hoping to turn into a full enclosure...
Wow, what a pro move, necro'ing your own decade old thread. Would you change anything? Will there be a photo tutorial of the next one? Side-entry...?
I spent the first night in a MTHL 11' hammock with 2" dyneema straps and it was great! Jeff worked with me to get a bunch of soft shackles and rapidly replaced the suspension that had been included...
Wow, that's pretty neat tech! I have a winter tarp in the works and might consider how this could be diy'ed.
My FIRST first hammock was likely a rope style on a metal stand, but my first camping hammock was the ENO double nest deluxe. I picked it up after my camping duffle was stolen based on some...
Have enjoyed the few nights I've spent in mine, look forward to many more. Also excited to try a Tensa Solo conversion at some point.
@stevebo have you fully removed the ground hardware? Did you...
I enjoyed the humor @nanok! And I've been using the Atlas XL for a decade but finally upgraded to 2" dyneema straps and a becket hitch. Only having hung with them once this past weekend, I'm sold.
...
Wow, love these gear plans, I've downloaded them for future projects. Sorry to hear you're shuttering, but hopefully someone takes over or you clear out inventory in short order. I'll see if I can do...
Thanks much raftingtigger, I'll give it a go and reach out if the pole can't be salvaged. Will likely pick up some of the accessories I've been eyeing to bundle shipping if/when I do.
So I tried the Tensa4 out indoors for the first time and one of the poles bent on a corner. I repositioned things and slept the night fine. However, in the morning that pole was unable to fully...
Welcome, always nice to see another Washingtonian! I'm confused about a weight penalty vs tent camping, that must be one pricey tent...
Haven't done this, but some day. My plan would probably be similar to what @Latherdome is recommending, but I haven't quite figured out how best to support one side onto the bike. It seems as though...
In the PNW and have been bit too many times by having straps less than 10'. Currently planning an order that will include two 15' uhmwpe straps.
Excited to watch your progress!
@stevebo the Nova pattern referenced is (I think) the one @jellyfish created and did a video series on.
What great timing, I'm working on an order with him right now! Been looking for 2" wide brown uhmwpe to upgrade my suspension for a while now and noticed he had it. Of course that means I'm trying to...
Thanks @Red Cinema!
I'll take it.
I'm SOOO excited about this design. I've been trying to figure out a decent way to make a structure that looks like a period-appropriate A-frame from the outside, while supporting a hammock inside....
I too have visions of luxurious hangs in a hotel room. It seems like a lot of things can be used as an anchor. My first thoughts go to the leg of a bed or a door nob (that isn't going to be...
Very cool. Those emergency blankets clearly do their job! I can't imagine the Mylar was overly comfortable though, right? I've been toying with the question of how many degrees further a silk...
Welcome to the forum! Here are a few of the links I've been (ahem) gathering, before jumping into a diy gathered end hammock. Look forward to hearing about your progress!
