I just got a 9 as well. I will be using it this coming weekend so I will report back on my thoughts. I believe they should have put tie outs in the middle of all 4 sides. I may be doing that...
Just got home from my local mountaineering shop and they had some used tent poles from a repair that they gave me. FREE. Guess it never hurts to ask. They are orange DAC featherlites. Now I need to...
Are tent poles any good for tarp legs or are the too flexible. They are light and pack able compared to the kelty's at REI but I am concerned about them flexing too much under load.
It's a rainbow of fruit colors.
Here are my 2. Navy in front and apple green in the back.
The apple green is not bad at all, #1 son has that.
My #2 son chose purple, he is a vikings fan against my wishes...
I chose navy blue.
I have been informed I will be buying pink for my daughter. ...
We were In a boy scout camp that we could use free while we were in transit from MN to CO. For some reason almost all the trees were 10 feet apart so we were somewhat limited. It was 100 degrees and...
Fail
Not the equipment but the weather. We had 25 mph winds with gusts over 35.
Is there a solution for that? Will a tarp deflect that much wind?
Well I am on my way to Colorado for a high adventure boy scout trip. We are doing a stop over in North Platte NE. Here are the two DIY tablecloth hammocks all hung up and ready to go.
The boys...
That is a good thread. I had not seen that one. There are a few other good ideas on there like tying your toggle to the whoopie.
I did actually taper both ends of the bury so hopefully not much...
I do not know but if someone brought home masking tape without me asking for it then I would be painting a room this weekend.
I tried something today since I did not have any beads laying around for the loop side of a whoopie sling I was making. I buried a 2 inch long tapered piece of Amstel right next to where the loop...
That makes a lot of sense. I am no expert. I have been thinking about a "loopless" whoopie sling application and this seems to be a perfect one.
Has anyone else ever tried this?
I puffed the bag out and folded the body to be square. When you do that the bottom will develop triangle shaped folds that you can tape/sew down. Exactly the same way that a number of the DIY stuff...
I am 200 and it holds me fine. I would think another 30 is within range. for $12.99 its worth a shot.
I just made one of these. I am sitting at the office babysitting some computers and decided to raid the supply cabinet. One brand new tyvek(non postal) bag, 1 ID lanyard, some masking tape and a...
I received my 3 tablecloths yesterday and me and the boys gathered them and tried em out. It tried 3 different gathering techniques. I did the fan fold where the outside edges fold inside, a fan...
So I took the plunge and bought 3 tablecloths for me and my boys. I am planning a troop meeting to show the scouts and get them into this. What size rope does everyone use to whip the ends of the...
Are the Kelty tarps rainproof? I just saw some reviews that said they were not.
So I am taking the plunge and attempting a DIY hammock in prep for a scout project. I can't even consider making a tarp so I am looking for an inexpensive and versatile tarp. Right now I am...
So I was with my son at this scout meeting about a month ago when somebody says "Hammock". One thing leads to another... i watch Shugs videos... i sign up here... I see myself spending money in the...
