Yup going all out can sometimes end up being cheaper, as long as it suits you!
What you have there is pretty much exactly what I want at some point. I live in Australia though so I might have to...
Good stuff. Was just going to mention ( if you don't know already) that a lot of the gear seen on here is available from a company called Tier Gear in Tassie. Simon is really helpful and his advice...
Hello from Brissy. Have you got any hammock gear yet?
Hello from Brissy!
I use a Hammock Bliss Sky Bed which has a pad "sleeve". I haven't had any issues with condensation so I guess it's because of the extra layer of fabric
I just got one of your AB13 Max stoves from a seller called Tier Gear here in Australia. I really like it!
If you are worries about the condensation/dew dripping on your hammock, you should ensure that there is a steep enough angle on the tarp so that any moisture runs to the edges.
Probably the most helpful tarp set up video I ever came across. It really does make it much easier for me than adjusting either end.
Makes sense. It would be cool if there was a waterproof version with vents like you get on tents (awning over a window). I live in a warm weather area with storms so I wouldn't ever really need it to...
Is the cover waterproof?
Just check what your comfort rating on the quilt/bag is and go from there. If you are worried just take a nice comfy jumper and long johns incase you are chilly.
I'd put some velcro on my hammock and the space blanked so that it is still removable. I use a pad and condensation isn't an issue for me until it's so warm that I don't need the pad anyway
One way that I cut down a lot of time was moving from a hex tarp to a square tarp(poncho) that I use diagonally. This way I only have 2 guy lines as opposed to 4. Sure I have a bit less room but I...
If you can stay on your pad and have a decent sleeping bag you will be able to go quite low. As it gets colder, go and try it out but just take extra clothes to layer up if it gets chilly
Yeah forgot to take photos of the hammock but I will fix that next time. Where are your favorite spots in the area? There are so many trails I'm not sure where to go next.
I didn't imagine there...
Took the opportunity to explore the Gondwana Rainforest on the edge of the Tweed volcano over the weekend. It was much more lush than I ever could have imagined in our fairly dry climate and over the...
I usually use a carabiner to clip my entire pack to the head end of my hammock. You have to compensate for this when setting up as it will affect the angle that you hang at.
My hammock has a...
It wasn't all good for the wildlife...

I guess this type of thing is inevitable with such close proximity to a big...
I'd highly reccomend it. The daytime temp was about 25 Celsius so I'm not sure if you actually call it winter!
Went camping and fishing with a mate at Bribie over the weekend. It's about an hour north Brisbane in sunny QLD.
It was nice to see how good a hammock is for camping at the beach. Packing up was...
I don't thinks it is crazy popular in Australia as I have been camping for some time and had never seen a proper hammock till this year when I bought one.
People here tend to car camp so it's big...
I'm new to hammocks but even before staring to use hammocks I looked on Ultimate Hang for tarp set ups. Reading about a continuous ridge line with a couple of half hitches and at one end and a taut...
