Welcome to the forums. Maybe Ill see you on the trail sometime.
I hope it comes just in time for spring hiking season. Looks great.
I was there when I was in the Army back in the early 90s. There were plenty of trails that were gravel or dirt. More like roads, we drove APC's all over the place. If you can try to get in touch with...
You made me home sick. I really liked how you promoted the park for different activities. Great video.
I think you just need to play around with different "Firmnesses" of the pad and see what works for you. I seem to have different results depending on what activity I was involved in during the day.
I'm 6' 0" and it seems to be at the limit for me. If you could find someone close by to take a look and lay around in it that would be the thing to do.
Nice place. Beautiful views and you had some good weather. Thanks for showing how great NYS can be especially the Catskills.
I plan on hitting the trail soon. I have a plan and a day off.
I hate to pull out at the last minute but I see now that driving two hours into a storm won't be good for me. I hope to be able to hike the Only Natonal Forest in Nee York State another time.
I plan on arriving Friday early afternoon and setting up near the Blueberry Camp Ground. I'll be staying until Sunday since the weather will be so nice.
You can do either but I rig my Ridge Line over so as to not have water dripping inside of my tarp if it should rain.
Welcome from 315
Hope to see you on the trail
I was given some insight on this project and given two maps to study. I would like to share with the Hammock Forums community and hear what people have to share or thoughts of where this trail will...
Nice trip! Great to see your daughter's positive attitude too. Couldn't be a better trip for you, thank you for sharing.
I think the way you conducted the test is what most people will experience in the back country. Very informative and may help people just getting into hammock Camping make decisions as to what type...
Interesting, I never noticed any noise but I haven't used mine in very quiet environments. I liking the looks of the changes and glad to see the team improve on the design.
It looks nice. That is an interesting way of connecting the ridgeline. Im guessing as long as you don't stress it too much it should hold up fine. I sure do like my 3.0 and Im sure your going to...
I would say keep an eye out as there are many of us who go on a regular basis.
I set up a number of times in my back yard and slept out a few nights. I think a lot of the time you save at set up is putting things away so they are easy to deploy at set up time. I fold the...
Maybe the picture is deciving, it's only 3.2oz with the nylon case.

I found this little gem on the trail coming off Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks. I kept it in my car for years and one...
Welcome to the Forums. Be sure to check out all the info and videos about all the different aspects of hammocking. Im sure we will see you on the trail.
Sweet scenes and great views. Its nice seeing more of what the country has to offer. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful place.
I grew up in your area. Now living in NY. Welcome and you'll get plenty of info here. Just read articles and watch videos from Shug and others. Enjoy the trees and see you on the trail.
Thanks guys. I don't know how I missed them since I spend so much time on that site.
Is this an official peice or something to picks up? It would be cool to have something similar for other trails. Idea light has come on!
Looks nice by the way.
Welcome from Northern New York. Like others have said, there are numbers of people here to share information and link up with on the trail. See you out there soon.
Looks like you have a great set up for winter weather. Keep us posted on any short comings and how things hold up over time.
Most places dont allow tents or hammocks inside of shelters. Check the local rules or call the DNR/ DEC Office closest to your destination.
Ill be interested and will watch for more info
I say if you can afford to buy a CF Tarp, pick one up and try it for a while. If you don't like it for what ever reason, I'm sure you could sell it here for the same if not slightly less than you...
Welcome to the forums from Northern New York. Keep an eye on the "Hangouts, Campouts and trip planning thread to see what is coming up in your area and who you might see on the trail.
Perhaps if anyone lives near you with one, you could check one out.
No worries. The Amok has a little of both worlds and I'm sure you will enjoy it if you choose to use it. Going with a regular hammock and a pad is always a good choice too. Enjoy what ever you you...
I think it has a little of the air bed feel but it has the hammock feel also. The swinging motion and the open air make it a better choice than a tent with an air bed in my book.
I too was there this spring, same time as g2outdoors. I found a lot of people at High Falls but didnt see anyone the second day. I too want to go back and check out the other parts of the trail. That...
Welcome from Northern New York.
Welcome from Northern New York. Hope to meet you on the trail soon.
I used my Amok as much in my yard as I did out in the woods this last summer. With more use I was able to get in and out easier, set my back and knees to a good position and sleep pretty well. For...
Welcome from Northern NY. You should keep a watch on trips being planned and come along on some of the group activities that other members post. Look forward to meeting you on the trail.
I think a long wide pad fits the sleeve better in that the pad is snug and won't slide or shift around. You could experiment a little and use say REIs return policy to dial in a pad that works for...
Im glad you are showing the Amok 3.0 and how well it can be used in cold weather camping. Ive got the same set up with the pad and it is so nice. And being able to sleep on your side is sweet too....
I havent tried to adjust the ridgeline at all. I feel the way it lies, it is fine for me. I would think if you adjust it it may effect the way the pad sits inside and how much rigidity you get.
I havent had that problem either. And I thought about half hitching my webbing but the buckles held fine with out them. I have had to half hitch my webbing on my conventional hammock because they...
I think that pad will work but not sure about the ridgitity. It will fit in the sleeve but may be too flexible to give you a comfortable rest. Like you stated though REI will be able to take it on...
I hung the tarp about 5-6 inches above the hammock ridge line. I didnt raise any corners or parts because I wasnt sure if it was going to be windy or not. It had been pretty breezy earlier in the day.
I just want to add that I used my Amok this weekend in the Adirondacks, and it poured rain Saturday night. It was about 42 degrees and I was high and dry. I slept very good and was ready to go Sunday...
I will be heading out there tomorrow. I decided that this great weather can not be wasted. Anyone else goi g early? PM me before 9:00 tomorrow morning so we can get together.
Welcome from the North Country
