I use masking tape as well, same reason as Dutch... I tried the fabric pencils and it felt like it was going to damage the fabric.

Sorry I'm a Goober. Missed the "only with tarp part" please delete me.😃
I'll take the tarp skins please. PM PayPal.
also, grosgrain is pretty light. Heavier than an extra line if thread and the extra half inch of fabric or so in a felled seam, but not much.
That is correct. I used 3/4" on mine which makes it important to have straight and accurate stitches close to edge of grosgrain. Go wider on the grosgrain and it just gets easier.
I've used the Warbonnet method on both of mine. No sealer needed, never a drip in heavy rain. You are correct that it is simply grosgrain over a simple seam. Try to keep the seam small, 1/4" or so....
Excellent! I was thinking this weekend...I should email Kyle and suggest he get some zippers...
"That's telekinesis Kyle!"
Whoa. That is just awesome. Well done!
Welcome from down the road in Brevard! We sure are lucky to call this place home!
Nice project, sounds just like me when the DIY bug hit. Actually finished a tarp marathon session around 3am myself! Feels great to go live in the woods for a few days with gear you created.
Nice work!
I'll take the SSUQ, PM inbound :)
Awesome, thanks! Thinking of doing this too. Have a 20 degree setup that's fine into the 50s or even around 60 without being too hot... This should work for the few hottest months of the year in my...
How's it working out? What temps have you used it in?
Such a generous idea! About to sew up a second tarp for my wife to join the adventure above ground. This would save some $$$ for sure!
Using the exact same setup. Partially because of that video! Thanks!
CRL with wasp/hook and a set of tarp worms has been awesome for this newbie.
This is on my calendar. Love hanging, never made a social event out of it though. Pisgah is my happy place so it's bound to be a good time!
The ones on Amazon are about an inch long. Reviews from people on there insist they are the exact same product as the name brand product. Appears to be the same with the branding added for a premium....
$11.99 per 100 on Amazon. Bought them... Love them. They did all the work on my DIY TQ, tarp and hammock.
Attmu Wonder Clips, Paper Clips, Blinder Clips, Multi-purpose Clips, 100 Pack, Red...
OK, I made the mistake of letting my wife lounge in my hammock surrounded by a Hammock Gear Incubator and my DIY Argon67 top quilt. Now she's all-in for hammock camping. I need to get a start on...
Bummer man.
You're right, I read your thread after following up on this. I'm out in the name of civility.
I've driven that road many times in a 2wd car. Only a few spots you even have to dodge potholes.
What TiPyro said. You'll have your pick of sites along the road. There are a few right next to a...

Kudos Kyle!
Thanks for taking care of me in regards to the SilPoly. The lengths that you and Dutch go to to please your customers make it hard to know who to throw money at for each project :) ...
My v1 tarp was out for a full night of light rain last night. I did the grosgrain ridge and still had some beads running down the inside of the tarp. I didn't get too wet, just a bit here and...
It's not actually a cat cut ridge, only the other edges are. It does hang as if I cat cut the ridge, but it is straight as an arrow when not under tension. Oddly, it keeps that shape for the most...
Finally finished this up last night and immediately put it to the test under my new hex tarp in my new hammock. First ever night in a hammock!
DIY Tarp thread:...
This one is done and I'm pretty happy with it.
Added some bling, tarp worms are lighter than light.

People worrying about 2000lb webbing being too weak for hammock suspension are cracking me up. If it lost 50% of its strength were still taking 1000lb. Just use common sense and look at your gear...
Love this! Curious how the variable baffles work out. Makes sense the way you did it.
Take your time looking and know what you want to start with. I used untreated down from SmileyMe for a DIY TQ that I'm pretty happy with. I think I would recommend them for a first project. I'd...
Of course this comes out when my goodies are already in the mail!
This is an awesome thread/experiment I dug up looking for tarp tie-out ideas! I love digging up these great nuggets of information.
I've already sewn my reinforcements on with straight stitches,...
This is very cool! I'd never seen one of those professional Juki machines go, like a machine gun! No way I could sew that fast.
Love the behind the scenes look at things, thanks for sharing!
Here's a shot of the ridgeline.

Bling is on the way from Dutch. CRL and some tarp worms!
I did it "warbonnet style" as far as I know. Single 1/4" hem and folded some 3/4" grosgrain over that and sewed it down. We'll see how it...
That's how it has gone. Just a little more to go. Ridgeline is on and all that is left are tieouts and some extra threads across the reinforcements.
Biggest goof was letting the thread drop off...
Wife says asking questions and then just doing what I was gonna do anyway makes me an "askhole."
She also picked the sawhorse table legs...and the...
Orange reinforcements!...
That's what I'll roll with. Was trying to follow DIYGS steps but with the different ridgeline I wasn't sure where that fits in.
Will make some reinforcements, hem those in around the edges, then...
I really don't. Is that the order I should go? I'm just going on what makes sense to me, and I've never made a tarp so it's just guessing.
More pics, cats cut....
Shoot. Guess next step is the cat cuts. Then I gotta figure out the order of reinforcements, hems, grosgrain ridgeline, and tieouts. Maybe that is the order...
Hi folks,
Continuing my DIY adventures. We have a bunch of snow falling so I have nowhere to be.
I have the parts cut for the DIY Gear Supply plans for a hex tarp. I've sewn the ridgeline edges...
Nice idea if you have the floor space. Maybe you could hang the baskets on the wall.
Very nice! Maybe not original, but new to me. Thanks for sharing.
Just made a quilt with Argon 67, great stuff. RipstopbytheRoll has a new 10d fabric oh sale this week that should be worth a try.
Welcome! Lots of folks on here from NC
Congrats, looking forward to the build threads! Pics or it didn't happen!
Way to go Dutch, I've only been at this hammock stuff for a very short while and its become very clear why you are so well...
So many fancy older machines on here. My mother in law lovingly gave me this one, because she likes her old one better. It has been a dream to use on the projects I've done so far.
Does some...
With a helping hand I could see this work for certain big jobs, marking out the lines to attach baffles is the only thing coming to mind right now...but that's the only job I've done where I wished...
