Same here!
I use the app as well and iit well worth the few bucks.
Staking out the doors is my default but if the distance between the trees and/or diameter of trees permits tying off to tree I will do that too. I like options and the weight of two “extra” titanium...
Agree with Shug..takes some ‘fiddlingly’ but once you have it set it works well. Writing down a few key measurements is a great idea. I will add I found the tarp extension poles worth the cost too. I...
I was getting cold shoulders the first couple times I used a TQ and UQ systems with my BB XLC on cold evenings. I found two causes. First was the UQ getting out of position when I climbed into the...
I am primarily a canoe camper in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters. I use the Sea to Summit Event Compression sacks. Medium size works well for sleeping bags and TQ/UQ sets. These go inside my Sea to...
Hard to follow the previous posts which are great comparisons. I own both a double layer RR and a double layer BB XLC. I prefer the BB XLC slivhtly for comfort but both are excellent hammocks. I...
Weathered many a rain shower and thunderstorm. Never had any water pooling issues with the external poles.
I can see the top being kind of flat enough to hold wet, clingy snow. But if you put so...
Great point!
Although I am a more a May to September camping kind of guy...a delicate flower this one
Agree the RR is a very nice hammock. I like the BB XLC just slightly more these days but the RR is awesome too. Even got my wife to try hammock camping in the RR and after two nights she was a...
I have been using the 1.75 mm braided dyneema line in yellow that Warbonnet sells for several years and very happy with it. The benefits in the description on the prooduct page I find accurate:...
This is where I landed as well after some experimentation. I got two dyneema tree straps and two titanium Fish Hooks from Warbonnet for my BB XLC. Tree strap attached around tree using fish hook....
If dry my snake skinned tarp goes top of my pack inside the pack line to stay dry. But I don’t have a separate additonal stuff sack for it.
If wet it goes outside the pack liner, but also at top...
I always use the pullouts on my Thunderfly with the external poles. Debating changing to internal poles on my next WB tarp but no doubt about the benefit of thr poles to create a little more space...
I use s BB XLC and almost always use the bugnet and shelf guylines. If I need to do something under the tarp and considered about tripping over one of the lines I just slip it off the stake and toss...
Oops! I meant Tarpworms vs. Tarp Ticks. Two good products with different uses and too similar names! Fixed original post.
I use an 11’ Cloudburst with the door kit. Its OK. If I could do over I would go with a WB Superfly.
This is my system as well. At the corners of my tarp I have larksheaded a Dutchware tarpworms on shock cord. I like being able to adjust the guyline tension from under the tarp and at roughly knee...
I use a Thunderfly with a Blackbird XLC and really like the protection it offers. I use an underquilt protector for some extra protection but so far I haven’t noticed any evidence of splashes or...
I do the same. I use a catchall sack and things can get a little off with the stuffing and unstuffing. A quick adjust to make sure covering the head shoulders area as designed is easy.
I am a Warbonnet fan. I have done several trips to the BWCA which is for excellent hammock camping.
I have two set ups:
#1 Ridgerunner with Cloudburst tarp. I like this hammock on warmer...
I will pile on!
I asked Jared to add the noseem strip now standard in his Catch All Sacks to a couple I bought earlier before that was an option. Whole process from concept/question email to...
I used a regular, 9’ SLD Catch All Sack this May for a BWCA trip as well. Four days of high winds and rain but the Catch All rocked! I fit a WB BB XLC, 20D TQ and UQ, UQ Protector and Top Cover and...
I use the SLD Catch-all Sack. Love it! I put a WB BB XLC, TQ, UQ and UQ Cover along with a deflated pillow in a regular, 9 foot model with plenty of room. I use the SLD Single Skin Stuff Sack for my...
