Whatever is decided, I’m sure that we will go with the group, and yes we will probably be caught saying that it so different,or a bit further or whatever, but in the end it’s mostly about seeing old...
I have an old,2011, model NX250, which continues to serve well. I’ll still have it when I can no longer hang. Good times there.
If. If there are several hikers overnighting where you are camped, and some are obviously slow walkers, then get up early, pack quick, and get some trail miles in before stopping to rest and have...
I keep one of my Crickets set up on my front porch, so I can put a hammock up in minutes any time I want to relax. I use diy table cloth hammocks, Walhalla hammocks, Dream hammocks, Dutch hammocks,...
Well we can’t make this one, Georgia Girl is still dealing with pain issues keeping her from walking. Yes, we are seeing plenty of medical people, but the solution to this puzzle is still eluding us....
I’ve been using a strap with a frayed edge, that is a few inches long, for a few years and no sign of a problem. It’s not that I don’t have several other pairs of straps, but I just don’t see it...
Don’t forget to bring coffee.😁😁😁😁😁
I have found that the wider hammocks can be more difficult to exit from for the reasons you give, but the average width ones can be easier to get up from. The sag can also be too shallow, and to test...
Georgia Girl and old4hats plan to be there.
My wife and I have been hanging in ridgerunners for several years. We made do with 11 and 12 foot tarps for a while, but grew tired of the hassle of keeping all the rain out. Our solution wea to make...
I have an older Clark NX250, it has an over cover and that thing has literally saved my bacon on two occasions. I never used it often, but when the need was there it rocked.
This morning I was delighted to receive delivery of two 10 degree Bandit top quilts. If these perform as well as the other UGQ quilts I have, I will be a happy hanger for sure. Thanks UGQ!9
I intentionally make mine short, about 3 inches after cinching through the hammock end. This allows use of closer tree spacing.
Carol and I love this hang. Health permitting we plan to be there.
Just thanks.
If a hammock is really wide, it’s difficult for most to get out of it.
Entry and exit from the top hammock could get really interesting.
Head left, feet right for me as well.
Simply beautiful. Your pictures always make me want to be there.
Well I guess Georgia Girl and old4hats will be coming to the Yates Place fall adventure! Rumor is that Lazy Bee will be there too.
I use tarps that are just under 13.5 and have only one time had to search for compatible trees to hang it and my WBRR hammock. But, all forests are different, so… Foe me the additional coverage...
FWIW, I gave up on eleven ft tarps and went to twelve and longer, I usually camp in a ridge runner and for it I use thirteen ft and four inches. I always hang my tarp high, as I am unsteady on my...
Twelve foot tarps work wonderfully well. Plenty of dry space there.
Great event, one of the best hangs around. The weather is usually about perfect at this time. Yeah, I’m going.
That looks GOOD!
Sure miss you folks! When you get established maybe we can work up a trip to Louisiana, perhaps in a cool month, and get some folks to hang.
DCF is bulky, noisy, leak proof, light weight, oh yes, very expensive. I seldom take mine out anymore, opting for sil poly.
Every sil nylon I’ve had sagged like crazy every time it rained. Sil poly doesn’t .
Something about this thread reminds me of the single line suspension, which got some attention a few years back. Just wondering if it might make a bit of a come back?
Mine is a bit old, it’s an eleven footer. Every time I hav used it, it has served me well. Time passed and longer ridge lines were attractive and as others have said, it is very bulky to pack. It...
Problems come up. I won’t be there.
No, it is ant’s.
I’m planning to be in Springfield in a couple of weeks, perhaps we can meet and tell tales.
That’s where a good friend of ours got his nick name.
I bought a continuous ridgeline for my Cuban tarp, used it three times, never enjoyed untangling it each time I used it, went back to the split ridgeline, and never looked back.
We will be there!
We will be there!
I have 3 wbrr’s , and would but a Banyan if they were available, just to compare the two.
I’ll be there.
I’ll be there with Georgia Girl. I’m also bringing a hack saw to open up biscuits with.
I’m on my second ridge runner, both are double layer. I never use a pad, I get double layer for the strength factor. I don’t ever carry them far, so weight is no issue.
An awesome addition to any back yard!
Winter wonderland! Outstanding photos, as expected. Thank you for sharing.
Not at all, I just wanted a new one. By the way, I am the third owner of the old one. Those things are tough.
I just retired one WBRR with a few hundred nights use on it. Never considered a ridgeline at all, little need for on with all the pockets on it. My new WBRR has only 3 nights on it and I expect to...
Yessir! On the PalmettoStateHangers FB site there are quite a few signed up, should be enough folks so that there is always someone to listen to a good yarn.
176 lb weight limit leaves a lot of folks out.
I have a Superior Hammock, 30 degree, that I am very fond of. True quality, and very comfortable.
I have a WBRR double layer with a few hundred nights on it, most of which with me weighing around 230 lbs. I wonder if a single layer would have held up to that.
Carol and I really enjoyed the hang! She said it was the best she had ever been to! Great place, great people, good food, decent weather, what more could we want? Yes, we plan to be at the next one.
