Love seeing this thread is still alive and inspiring people to get out and build something.
If you have questions on the build I would suggest to build a small mock up of it. That is what I did when I started the...
I still have and occasionally use this hammock when I started this thread https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/38451-DYI-WBBB-Hammock-Thoughts-(Plans) a long time ago.
Let me do some thinking and I'll try and pull out some of my maps before suggesting anywhere.
That would be wise since I wasn't planning on hijacking this thread.
Very true. When I got into hammocking 18 years ago there wasn't much out here in Utah and I was pretty much on my own to learn this stuff. Guess that is one reason I put this adventure on the shelf...
If it was later in the year (summer) I maybe game for a quick meet up informal group hang. I haven't been one for cold weather camping nor do I have the gear for that, sorry. It looks like there is...
I talked to my son-in-law before the trip so he knew what to kind of expect. But, when we arrived to to site I had show him how to set up everything since he had now idea. In the end he enjoyed the...
I have used the Arrowhead Equipment Potomac and it fits perfectly with the Hennessy.
Well the backpacking was a success and it seemed the son-in-law enjoyed the hammock camping. He started talking about getting a hammock for himself. So the conversion begins.
As you pointed out the video called this a "new fad". I wouldn't call it a new thing since I entered this realm of camping almost 8 years ago and I am not going back to the ground anytime soon. I...
Very good point, that had also crossed my mind.
When you do go, I would be interested in a report on the accommodations.
I was thinking of doing the same. I am working on getting the wife into hammock camping and this may be a good way to help introduce her into it. I am not sure how many camp sites they have at the...
I had just learned today in one of Utah's state parks they set up a hammock camping site. See http://fox13now.com/2017/08/03/sleep-in-a-hammock-for-8night/ for the news story. Also I found out that...
Even though I live in Utah I have to admit its been awhile since I have been in Zions so I cannot give you a great answer. But you may try contacting the park or the department of natural resources,...
Job well done.
Or when your getting back into hammock camping again after a long time off, like my self. Things have changed a lot since over the past few years.
Always love the videos. This was a great reminder that all is not lost when there is not an option to hang the hammock.
Video well done. I have been looking for a nice video for a someone I know that is investigating starting hammock camping, I will recommend this for them. Love to see what coming next?
Depending on the day I may be game for that.
Welcome from Salt Lake (technically Herriman). I was out near Park City this last weekend doing an evening Hike with my wife.
Love it!!!
You are welcome, good to see the successful builds.
I have all the drawings in AutoCAD format, if you would like them. I will need you to PM me your email address so I could send them you.
Broken Halo, hopefully I can help answer your questions.
If I was going to make the hammock without the bug net I would forgo the zipper and just attach the 135" x 8" piece to the main body by...
Cool. I am real excited to see and hear of the sucess that DIY builders have had so far. I have been out of the loop for a while and kind of on the back burner. Been involved with my other hobby...
That size would fit real nice. I am 5'8" and the 8ft is real comfy.

The bug net is somewhat stretchable and conforms to the shape of the hammock.
Normal seam allowance was put in the plans. But if you were planning on doing the falt felled seam that takes a little bit more fabric than the normal seams. Even if you don't add in a little extra...
I weighed both the hammock and the tarp and it's just under 5 lbs. But I didn't build mine out of the lightest material either. I am sure one can get the weight down a lot more than I did.
Ok now that I have built and used my WBBB clone hammock and used it a bunch of times with a foam pad I decided to finally build an underquilt for it. I wanted to toss this out to get an idea of what...
I am 5'8" and sleep comfortly in the 8' version but I was thinking of building one of the 9' version the next go around.
I really don't have an opinion on that. Personally I like to do things in layers. It is simpler to take off when you start getting warm and put on if you get cold. If the insulation is sewn in...
Yep, that is right. The red line in your diagram is sewn to the straight edge and the yellow follows along along the other side of the shelf that is not attached to the hammock body. One thing I...
Thanks for pointing that out Jazilla, I was trying to get around to answering later today. Yes continue up to finish out the foot box. See the attached photo, it shows the symmetrical bug net but...

When I built mine I made the 8ft version which doese fit my 5ft 8in height and I sleep comfortably. But if I were to build another one I think I would go with the 10ft version just to give me a bit...
Seams allowance was included with these plans.
Well they look good to me and they measure about what mine came out to be. The only thing I would suggest on the next one is doing the locked brummel and tapering the ends of the bury. But all in...
Thanks for another great video.
Looks good, you will love that first over night hang.
Did you taper the end? That really helps when feeding the tag end through.
Well for tonights second rainy evening project was another stuff stack (opens on both ends) for my DIY WBBB Hammock and I put a pocket with shock cord in the lip to put the tree huggers and hammock...
Spent this rainy evening and made me a few stuff sacks for my DIY BlackCat Tarp and Tarp Stakes. The smaller tarp stake stuff sack fits inside the larger one with the tarp. I think I will make a...
Hmmm... Now I have to order some new feet for my thread injector. This hems look great.
Fronkey, love your videos. Top notch.
No problem at all I am glad to help out.
Thank you. I know what you mean, that was one of the biggest reasons I put the drawing together. First so I can wrap my brain around it and then to...
It is a second layer of nylon sewn in to serve as a patch to help strengthen the neck between the footbox and shelf. It is critical to put it there as to help absorb the strain.
Sorry it was a very crazy day and this is the first time I was able to sit down at the computer.
Well the hammock did very well, I like it very much and will not sleep not the ground again. :D...
Well it is after 11 pm, 72 deg out, crickets chirping, and I am laying in my DIY WBBB hammock testing it out for the night. Ahhhh...... Zzzzzz
