GilligansWorld, looks like you had a great time!
I just got confirmation that I’ll be off February 18 - 21. I’m volunteering for a CMC class at 6pm on the 20th, so was thinking of heading out for...
Great, I’m all for it. What days are you thinking?
Anyone else care to join us?

So is anyone interested in heading out during the week of the 20th, preferably 24th - 26th? Or the week of Feb 3rd, 17th or 24th?
Just got news from my work that I will be unavailable the 16th-19th of Jan. The following week, or sometime in Feb would be better for me.

I could make either day (5th of 11th) work, also don't mind driving farther south, to Castle Rock or beyond to meet up. I'll send you a quick PM so we can hash out the details.
Hey guys, happy new year! Sorry for the late reply. I've been out of town, then celebrating the holidays.
Pulk stuff: I just recently ordered my poles / waist belt from skipulk.com, as well as a...
I’ll have to take a look at the plans in more depth, over the next few days (traveling). But these look pretty standard.

Funny you mention this.. I did this exact trail in January of this year. It’s a great, introductory trip, relatively close to the car (so you can bail if needed), and not too strenuous for beginners....
Completely agree. I sport a pair of MSR lightening ascent snowshoes, with tails if needed. As well as a pair of micro spikes. Often alternating between the two, as conditions change.

@GilligansWorld when thinking about a location, one thing I’ll do from time to time, is carpool. So perhaps we all meet at the main park-n-ride off E470 & I-70, then carpool in from there.

I do quite a bit of backpacking and tend to fall into the ultralight category, which I enjoy. It’s not for everyone, and takes a long time to dial your gear down, and figure out exactly what works...
I would get both if I were you! Walking in snowshoes without poles is like skiing without poles, it’s doable, but you’ll spend most of your time trying to get up and off the ground. Plus, depending...
So, I guess we should nail down what area everyone is interested in going to? Somewhere on the CT would be a good option, or out near Winter park. Could also find some great hikes in the Eagles...
Great photo's, and a beautiful area! Thanks for sharing @outandback!
Well I've done quite a few backpacking / hammock camping trips over the years. I've also done a few deep winter backpacking / hammock camping trips. With that said, I'd be more than happy to help...
Hey @rwfeldmann, that’s alright, nice of you to chime in! I was talking to another buddy of mine, about setting up a trip in January. It’s going to be cold, and likely deep, but definitely fun....
Thanks! I’ll look into those!
Hopefully we can get together for a hang sometime soon; would enjoy meeting ya!

Yea, that would probably help hu!?
Denver area. Willing to drive ~3hrs each way.
I’ve hiked/backpacked just about every trail off 285, Lost Creek, CT 5/6 (Kenosha pass), all around Mt Evans,...
Hey fellow hangers!
Running out for a last minute backpacking trip/hang, here in CO, starting this Friday. I’m an experienced hiker/backpacker, and prepared for winter weather conditions.
I...
Figure I’d chime in, hope I’m not too late!
I did a solo overnight in Lost Creek Wilderness July 1st 2018, then another solo 3-day September 1st 2018. It’s definitely a great area, and one of my...
I’d definitely be up for a hang, pretty much any time of year. Though i mostly do Fri-Sun trips, but occasionally I could swing a mid-week trip.
Currently trying to plan a few trips for the next...
Unfortunately I’m unavailable the week of the 4th, work responsibilities I can’t get out of. The following week would be better for me, then again valentines is on that Thursday. I’m sure all of our...
Sounds like a fun trip, count me in! I do have an occasional work (on-call) responsibility but I can schedule around that.
Myself and a friend of mine actually did a single overnight last weekend...
Thanks @Smilin I'll check it out!
Afternoon fellow hangers!
So I currently live in the Denver area, and I’ve got a few weeks here before starting a new job (Oct 15th). I’d really like to squeeze another good backpacking trip in,...
I was just up in Lost Creek last weekend for a quick out’n’back overnight. No permits were required, but there is a (free) self-register station when entering the wilderness area.
I’m definitely...
Might want to look at Holy Cross, or Eagles Nest Wilderness areas as well.
I'd rather not go off topic here, but I'm unfamiliar with Melanzana, is it just a clothing store?
Also @Wanderlost I got bored at werk, and decided to make a map/route/gpx for the trail you...
Yea the sun up here is no joke! I just did a 9mi loop last weekend, out near Conifer, the temp was in the 50’s, but I had significant sunburn afterwards (though it doesn’t feel like it, while you’re...
I’d be interested in this as well, plus the dates look good to me.
Looks like a great trip!
I agree with the other guys as well, about the altitude. Since you're spending a few days in the Springs, you should be fine. My advice would be to go for some long walks...
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
I'd definitely be interested in a group hang here in CO, perhaps we can move that conversation to a new topic, and get it organized! I'd do it myself, just...
Thanks! I'll look into it!
Comfortable, yes. Flat lay, not exactly. ;)
Hi @cmw6300, thanks! Count me in! I'm just NE of the DTC area.. If you, or any of the other guys would like to get together for a hike, or whatever, I'm game.
Hello everyone, I've been living in the Denver CO area for about 3 years now, and got my first hammock about 2 years ago, which has since been upgraded to the Chameleon, and a some custom built HG...
