Okay man, I will send you a PM when things firm up. Trying to get out before hitting the AT end of October for some testing. Guy I am supposed to hike with may be joining as well.

Thanks man, that area looks pretty nice. I will check it out.
--louis
Looks nice though a little farther east than I was thinking. I will keep it in mind for a future trip though.
Thanks,
--louis
Cool thanks, I will check it out.

Looking for a hike in/hike out for a quick one nighter in NE Florida. Any suggestions? I am more familiar with NW FL.
Thanks,
--louis
Veddy Cool! I may do this area in the Fall for my AT section hike.
--louis
Wow, very pretty. Between these pics and reading about the TGO Challenge recently I really want to get over and hike Scotland some time.

Looks like at least 5 hurt.

Well what ever you do be sure you use some form of protection. I pulled 15 ticks off my mutt and I after our hike last weekend. And that is with all my clothes treated and the dog using Frontline.
...
Humm, I been treating my underwear, socks and hat. Never had a problem <twitch> <twitch>. :)
I guess I will stop doing that in the future though.

I work on a college campus where there are several nice places to hang. I often see students with their Eno's out on the green. I have brought the WBBB a few times to nap in on my lunch break.

Our thoughts are with you during this time of loss for you and your family.

That looks pretty cool. I will remember this when i go to order my tarp. Anyone thought about using a CF Griz Beak instead of doors? I have been kicking that idea around for a couple of days.
...
Here is a pic of another hammock raft from the Eno Facebook page. **** this looks like fun.

If you do a group buy I am in. Would love to shave some weight from my RR. Be nice to get rid of that middle section as well since I am sure I will lose it eventually.
--louis
Glad you guys had a good time. Sorry I missed most of the trip but I had fun hiking Blood Mtn with you guys.
--louis
The more the merrier as long as your fine with the planned mileage.
--louis
Be glad when someone comes out with a cuben tarp designed for the RR. I have been holding off buying one for this reason.
--louis
Yeah the weather looks like it is going to be really good. (Knock on wood)

Hi Trudge,
Probably the best place to plan to catch us would be Hawk Mountain Shelter on Sunday night. The plan right now is to meet at Byron Reese around 9 am and then head back to Springer to...
Several thru hikers have mentioned in their blogs that park rangers are actively checking permits once you enter the park. Just an FYI.
--louis
Yeah I am keeping a close eye on the weather. Lots of snow up there this year and reports of very cold weather on the trail.
--louis
When I got my HG TQ & UQ the directions said they could be stored in a garbage bag so that is what I do.
Thanks,

Hi Grapenut,
We are still on for this trip and your more than welcome to join us. If you decide you want to go shoot me a PM. I am trying to get a head count to see about a shuttle from the state...
Anyone using the standard, without doors, HG CF Tarp with their Ridgerunner? If so how is the coverage?
--louis
Hi IHover,
Right now we are still a go for those dates. We plan to meet at the Byron Reese parking lot around 10 am on Sunday and catch a shuttle back to Springer. We will probably do 10 miles per...
Sounds like a fun trip. Tough to read while stuck inside on such a beautiful day like today.

Great Pictures!

Anyone modify their RR so that the bugnet is fully removable? If so, how did you do it? I want to do this to mine so I can leave the bugnet at home when I don't plan to use it.
Thanks,
--louis
Just picked this one up from ZPacks but I have not had a chance to try it out in the field. Very comfortable though.

Veddy Cool!

great vid!
--louis
Congrats on a great adventure. Cant wait to see the vids.
--louis
Yeah I just treat the hammock as well. Not sure how down would take to getting soaked with permethrin.
--louis
If you start at Springer then 3 days puts you in Neels Gap and 5 would be ****'s Creek. Doing the approach will add another day.
--louis
I tied a piece of cord to the draw tight string on the head end of my hammock bag. I wanted a physical token there so I could find it by feel in case I was setting up in the dark.
Thanks,
...
Do you still need the shoulder extensions when using a pad with a bridge hammock like the RR?
Thanks,
--louis
Yes do bring it. There has been some reports of West Nile in FL as well so don't take any chances.
--louis
Just got notice my RR shipped. So 5 days.
--louis
I placed an order for a custom tarp line this morning at 7 am and was notified it had shipped by 12 noon. Did I mention it is a Saturday? You can't ask for any better.
Thanks,
--louis
Sorry to hear that.
--louis
Walmart special silver SUV sun shade cut in half. Doubles as a sit pad when I am hiking.
--louis
That was my first thought too.
--louis
Just ordered my RR. Counting days.
--louis
Just ordered a WB Ridge Runner to try out on this trip.
Anyone else going to join this walking freak show? You know you wanna.
--louis
I take a small down pillow but I put it under my calves not my head. I usually don't need one under my head.
--louis
I have had my 40deg Hammock Gear TQ & UQ down to to around 35 and been plenty warm wearing light wool long johns & and a head wrap. It should be said I also sleep very warm so your experience will be...
Spoke with the wife and I am cleared to go on those days. I will probably drive up Sat and stay at the Amacolola Falls lodge.
--louis
I will confer with the boss (wife) on the dates if FLRider thinks they will work for him.
As for parking a car at Neel's, there is a lot a little north of there but I hear it fills quickly on the...
I am thinking:
Day 1: Hawk Mountian
Day 2: Woody Gap (Or the general area)
Day 3: Neels
I will check my guide when I get home. I don't know how busy it will be there but we will be in the...
