I normally try to find a place to bathe at the end of a day's hike, change into my "cleanest clothes," and rinse the day's hiking clothes (generally just T-shirt and undies). I have a section of...
My schedule just changed, and I can now make it to the hang. Unfortunately, the campground is completely booked, so maybe I'll just plan to come up for the day on Saturday. If someone has room for...
I generally hike in the spring and fall, so it gets dark at a reasonable time of day. I normally hike until about an hour before sunset, so by time I set up camp there's not much daylight left. I...
Go outside and find a couple of palm trees and enjoy the ocean breeze. You don't even have to leave the airport property, as part of the terminal is outdoors. Hawaii has very liberal homeless laws...
I just got an Outdoor Vitals inflatable pillow and took it on a week-long hike and I liked it. I'm still using a sleeping bag, so it fits in the mummy hood nicely and stays put all night. It popped...
I'm going to be out of town that weekend, but after last week's hike and my newfound love for hammock camping, my wife may steal my kit and come hang out. I wish I could join in -- I'm a super newb...

I've been hiking and camping most of my life, but I just purchased my first hammock after doing a lot of research and reading on this site. For the past four years, I've been section hiking the AT,...
I just completed an eight-day section hike of the AT using the REI Flash Air Hammock, so I thought I'd add my feedback to this thread. I had resisted the idea of hammock camping for a long time...
