I could make the second, maybe the third weekend of January. After the 17th I have classes starting up, and we're even skipping Spring Break this year to get the Hell Semester 3.0 done and out of the...
*sigh*
And classes decided to pile a load of work already this week. Not gonna be able to make the trip.
I'll hope for something the weekend before Thanksgiving.
I'm willing to chip in 20 or so to the kitty to get a load of wood.
Yeah, I used Dunckelman's Google map link. From Oxford, MS, it's a haul.
But yeah, maybe next time.
Yeesh, over 6 hours. I'll have to pass on this one, but I'll keep the site in mind for when I have way more time, like over holidays.
Hell, 2.5 hours is NOTHING.
Well hell's bells, that's only like 2.5 hours from me. If the weather is cooler, I definately wanna head on out. And with my last class over by 1:30 (and it being online) I can be dressed and ready...
Looking for suggestions on places I can go hang a hammock for a weekend or so in Deep East Texas. I'm going to be spending some time with family now that classes are done, and I'l love to get some...
I'll be ordering some form of quilt from you folks when this is all over, I know that for a fact.
As things sit right now, I know my Dad won't be coming and I'm really not sure I'll be coming either. The travel itself just doesn't seem like something I can justify right now.
Which sucks. I was...
So, it turns out that class has become somewhat less of an issue...
For some reason.
Just down Highway 6 from me. I'll definitely be there.
Looking forward to this so much, I might skip classes friday so I can show up thursday.
Holy cow. In one week my tarp went from "Awaiting Production" to "In Production" to an email saying that it was on its way. I could not be more excited.
Generally, I do my sock change at night when going to bed. Unshoe, take off the day's pair, let my feet air out and dry a big, then on goes the new pair. That pair gets worn the next day, and the...
Don't mind me, I'm just waiting for my tarp to start getting made. I'm looking forward to using it at the Louisiana hang in early April.
And credit the little video with Joe that some of y'all did...
I might have talked my pops into coming. Cajun, I sent you a message about it.
If we have any concern about needing firewood, my pops can load his trust with wood from the house, and that should...
For what it's worth, last time I went out I used my new Therm-a-rest straps, and loved them. Very nice and simple, and once I was set, not further adjustment was needed for them the rest of my trip.
After double-checking my class schedule didn't get changed on me, it looks like my last class of the day Friday ends at 12:20, and I might be able to skip that one so I could leave after my 8:00 am...
I might be able to make this - I'm not 100% sure what my class schedule is for the 3rd (I'm either done around noon, or around 5).
But if it's possible I'll definitely try to make the trip.
Agreed. I'll just take my stuff to a state park near me - we're supposed to have a few sunny days in a row tomorrow, so I'll go give my new gear a try there.
Maybe next time, folks.
I can probably make 17-19, or 18-20, though I would prefer the former. I know Monday is a holiday, but it is also the day before classes restart, and I'd like the full day for laundry/recover from...
Yeah, I'm going regardless - It's a 6+ hour drive, but meh. Any excuse to get out with folks. If someone brings a good-sized tarp (not a camping tarp, I mean "cover stuff in the back of the truck"...
So, looking at google maps, it's just past the Horine Conference Center?
It's a bit of a drive for me, but I'm looking for a nice group hang before my next semester starts on the 21st, so I might very well show up.
Need to give my brand new Hyke and Byke bag a workout.
Wait. There are people who don't do this? I mean, wouldn't the single ridgeline just be faster to set up? I mean, add a couple of prusik loops and toggles and boom, done.
The lines aren't bad...
If you just got it, then you're truly going to love it. I've got several of their 12" tarps, and the last one I got has A bunch extra tie-off points per side and along the diagonal - perfect for...
I'm a relatively poor law student, and I got this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MV65HZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Removeable bugnet, and the poles keep the net out of...
I need the term Jessie used to find that item, because as dorky as it looked, it ALSO looked exceedingly useful. As they say, "if it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid." :)
Also, I want to...
For the later arrivals, I'm also brining a lantern. Not sure how much fuel I have, so if someone has some spare paraffin lamp oil, maybe bring it. I'm almost certain I have plenty for Friday night,...
If my luck holds, I should be arriving around 4 pm or so, assuming I don't get lost.
