Bump, still looking!
I'm hope to find some Tensa Trekking Treez. If you're looking to sell, please contact me.
They're completely different than what I was thinking they would look like. Thank you for sharing!
Do you have a picture of the V style ground stake? I'm interested. Most of my hammock opportunities are either a one tree setup, or one boulder setup  I'm seriously starting to consider the...
The only reason I use seam grip wp is because that is what they stock locally at the Seek Outside store, so I figured if it is good enough for their tents, it's good enough for me. I've been using it...
If it was mine, I'd definitely both glue and sew on a nylon patch and reinforce the seams where the rip went to. I've had bad luck with DIY mineral spirits and silicone for both sil-nylon and...
I can share some things I do, maybe they'll help. I always go solo, and quite a ways off trail too.
Offline GPS maps are super important and learning how to read topographical features on maps. I...
I got a Seek Outside Divide 4800 for Christmas, 79L. It's a big external framed pack, and thank goodness it is because I took it out in January for a winter hammocking trip and my 7.5oz Apex quilts...
This is what I suspect is happening. I am starting to believe that apex insulation ratings for even DIY gear also are survival ratings. Apex is not at all bad though, I love my DIY apex quilts, but I...
That does help. I'll bet it's close. Thanks!
Well nevermind lol. I am getting a pair of operators for now and will likely get a warmer set in the future. I thought that might be the best choice for me at this time especially since I want to go...
Hello, please help me decide. I'm considering the loco libre tq+uq combo. I like to sleep warm. I only backpack with lows to the 30's, rarely anything ever colder. I'm thinking a 10 degree cushion is...
Looks fantastic!
If you do decide to use darning, chances are pretty good that a sewing repair shop near you will have an attachment that will fit your machine for fairly cheap. Darning can also be done by hand too....
Are you good with a sewing machine? I'd try to hand sew it first in spots and tack it on, then get the sewing machine out with a darning attachment and finish the repair with that. It'll look a bit...
I wash my hammocks and apex quilts very frequently, about every other hang. I don't un-gather the hammock, I just throw it in the wash on normal and warm and just use regular detergent, very little...
I'll give that a shot next time and adjust guyline tension instead of getting the end ridgeline completely taut before adjusting the guylines.
My first ever test hang, this is exactly what I did....
The tarp ridgeline is almost two feet longer than the hammock ridgeline. I wasn't able to drop it lower because if I did the tarp ridgeline would be very loose. I am not sure if I did it right.
I tried hanging from some boulders. Per the suggestions here, I used a continuous ridgeline to attach it which wasn't too bad but not as easy as setting up the tarp using split ridge line and...
Yep, that's them, thanks for finding them! A good price too
There are also some other options that could work. I'm looking at this myself because I also need a way to hang in the house and a stand is pretty big and so something on the walls would be nice. I'm...
Is hanging from ceiling joists an option? I have a setup in the garage for testing my hammocks and I have it wrapped around the joists. They don't move and seem fairly secure.
I have a stand...
It looks really nice!
That's so funny, but so hard to try not to laugh! haha
I didn't hang the tarp yet. Yesterday was just a test to make sure I could hang the hammock, if at all, from rocks and build up confidence that I can actually set up a hammock in this area. I really...
Hey Shug, I love your videos! They are so helpful and is a major reason why I even got into hammocks at all. My first hammock I thought I was completely happy with. It's 11'4" long and 68" wide and...
I screwed up making an 11' hammock for my wife, it came out right at 10'6" out of the mtn 1.7 XL width. I tried it out and was surprised it is as flat a lay as my 11' 4" long hammock. It's a bit...
I own four synthetic Wiggy's sleeping bags, a nautilus, a hunter, an ultima thule, and an overbag that are all about 15 years old and are stored compressed in an uninsulated garage. I have noticed...
It sounds like you grabbed some nice gear! Rocking to sleep in a hammock is a perfect way to end a day of fly fishing. I love doing the very same thing. Just like you and after investing so much in...
If you have a cold spot when the rest of your quilt is warm, I'd say that is almost certainly an air gap. I had the same issue with my synthetic quilt. I solved it by essentially lifting my UQ. I...
I also like to read books on my phone and when I get tired of that, I listen to the weather report a few times and try to pick up distant AM radio stations on my Retekess PR15. At night, I can get...
You can use the upholstery thread in your 201 if that is what you wish. I have a 201 set up for Mara 50 which is tex 60. All I had to do was lower the bobbin tension.
I have two MTN 1.7 XL hammocks, one is 11.25' long 1lb exact and the other is 10.5' long 0.88lbs. They both give a flat lay. The 10.5' seems to be giving me a flatter lay, not sure why. It could be...
Gotcha Joe, I was confused thinking all the tie outs, including the corners had to be attached to the tarp ridgeline but you're just talking about the tarp ends near the doors. Sounds like I have a...
Ahahaha yeah that dang frost is just enough to make things extra chilly in the morning, nothing a good cup of early coffee can't fix though. At least everything is all dry again by 10 am ;)
Yeah,...
Lowtech, it seemed that most of the spots I found required quite a length from the ridgeline to the anchor point unfortunately. Maybe if I use enough shock cord on the tarp guylines that should give...
Hmm, that option might work. I didn't really consider that. I never tied my tarp to the hammock suspension before. I thought there would be too much sway and that it would mess up the corner tie...
Due to living in a high desert, and my new love for hanging, I'm desperately trying to find spots to hang in this area with very few trees and water and I don't want to wait until late spring to be...
I just made a new set of TQ/UQ using 7.5 oz climashield apex and slept outside past two nights. The first night, it was miserable. I was absolutely cold and had some bad cold spots around my legs and...
yay I found them! But this design didn't work for me. Maybe I'll modify them and the UQ grosgrain loops today

My UQ suspensions shock cords would come out of the snakeskins in my pack and it would get tangled. My snakeskins were fairly slippery being made out of 1.1 ripstop leftover material I had. I made...
It looks perfect, nice job! 330 grams is very lightweight. Does that weight include the cordage and stakes? My ripstopbytheroll summer hex tarp with cordage, stakes, and stuff sack weighs 457 grams...
I think it looks nice, also nice choice of contrasting colored stitching. That is very light, does that weight include the cordage and stakes? My membrane hex tarp with cordage, stakes, and stuff...
My friend's wife also is in a quilting club and used to be an inspector at a sewing factory and I asked for some tips. I got none. I showed her some of the slick silpoly and she said they never...
RBTR also replied to my help ticket and said they estimate this fabric will restock Q2 of next year. Being that it's a custom fabric of a specific quality, I wouldn't wait until then to place an...
There is an update. I filled out a help form last week and included a url link to this thread and again asked about fabric availability. I think they took notice and saw how beloved their fabric is....
They are out of other items I'd also consider quite essential, for example their in-house venom 1" ultralight webbing which I'd also consider flagship quality. One could only get this at RBTR and is...
They have only had purple, orange, and blue for several months now. Weirdly enough, I was able to buy some black MTN 1.7 from them about a month ago but they didn't have very much in stock. Wish they...
Very nice looking hammock! That's a lot of accessories you have there! You have a lot going on there, looks very impressive and inspiring. I like that foot hammock idea. I usually hang my clothes and...
I am using the exact same silpoly from RSBTR for my tarp and it has one season of use. The fabric is definitely not strong enough to attach grosgrain to it without any additional reinforcement. I...
