Looks great! I love the Karo style but I’ve got the straight baffles down and haven’t taken the time to do a karo.

Looks great! I love the Karo style but I’ve got the straight baffles down and haven’t taken the time to do a karo.
It should work fine. I recently used them on a bugnet and I don’t see why they wouldn’t also work on a top cover. There’s plenty of zipper for it. My only complaint is the zippers are sticky at the...
I havent had this problem yet as I typically diy my hammocks and integrated bugnets and I err on the side of having a mit extra bugnet material so this doesn’t happen. I’d probably contact Dutch and...
I much prefer my suspension in the same bag as my hammock. That said, if it’s wet (and I think this is where your question was going) I’d throw it in with my tarp or at least in the same location as...
Looks awesome!!! Let me know if you have any questions about making quilts! I’ve helped a few guys get started and plan. Cheers to a sweet setup!
Hi everyone,
Over at MHK Outdoors we just unrolled our new standard pricing for quilts (top or bottom). Now, if the dimensions vary considerably from average, I’ll have to adjust these a little,...
Sweet! Let me know if you’re interested in anything!
I have an 11’ hex tarp in Moroccan blue 1.1 oz silpoly. Weighs about 12 oz. pm me if interested.
Hi Smckinney, here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/MHKOutdoors/
On my end, this is shown at the very bottom of my posting.
Hi all, I have a few quilts ready that aren’t yet claimed by customers. Check out the Facebook link in my signature or message me on here! Thanks!
I have:
QUILT SETS:
81”x56” topquilt Membrane...
Hammocks and quilts it’s always part of my hem (sometimes only on one side of my quilts). Most other things it gets shaved off. Sometimes I leave it on tarps but do a fold or a roll hem.
Haha down is a pain in the butt but it isn't that bad. I'll have to put together a video of my adjustment to the down eductor method. I love it. Sadly, I've already made most of the other changes...
That headlamp adjustment is brilliant. I need to do that (pending getting a decent headlamp). My existing headlamp literally eats batteries. It has a red light that will blink constantly in the...
Hi all,
I'm all about shaving weight by any means necessary aside from comfort. I don't mine using high quality materials, but I don't buy them. I make them. What's your best weight and cost...
Thank you! Really looking forward to actually breaking down my DIY process to help others. I always find myself just barreling through them though. I don't stop to take pictures. I also don't have...
I agree with the above. Take it and vent it.
I love this - I mean, ENO is garbage but I love all of the love. I study prejudice (my research is mostly racial - but I have colleagues studying LGBTQ prejudice). Keep it up everyone.
I appreciate the insights Cmoulder! I'll have to check it out!
I'm also looking forward to posting my more creative builds. So far my coolest ones have been the red underquilt pictured which I estimate to be at least warm down to -20* which was done for a...
Hi all,
I’ve been a hammocker for about a year now but I find myself spending hours upon hours reading about everything hammock related. In the past year I’ve bought a hummingbird single+, an Aerie...
Agreed but I’ll add that it can also be used on the ground with a sleeping pad and be just as warm as a sleeping bag but make sure if you’re doing this you get one that’s at least 56” wide.
I don’t think I’d go for the weight savings of 7d at a cost to the durability. I love the 10d fabric as both an inner and outer shell material. No need to go further. I make all my own quilts and...
What did the final weight come out to on that?
Dude! It turned out awesome! You did a great job!
Great build! Looks great!
This is cool! I will have to keep this in mind if I ever experience a rip in mine!
I second this. It shouldn’t be too hard.
I’d go regular. I don’t like super wide.
I second the idea of getting more coverage first and then going with less later.
This looks amazing! I love the extra length!
This is an excellent tutorial for a beginner tarp maker. I’ve made quite a few diys now and never have the time to photograph and describe 😂
Great walk-through and great tarp!
Nice! I have a similar setup and really like it although Dutch's new 1.5 webbing is intriguing...
I always keep mine on the ground beside my hammock so I'm not much help unfortunately, I've never had the issue with bugs.
One suggestion to make this lighter if you like amsteel is a softshackle. You can make them yourself pretty easily if you go on youtube. When I made the switch, it was awesome!
I wish! Sounds like fun! I'm from Kansas and would love to make it out but I don't have the time right now.
There are quite a few ways to make sure it says with you. You can run shock cord through the top of them (many come with this - you could do a pretty simple diy if it doesn't come with this). Another...
Welcome, get ready for the biggest time suck (in a good way) of your life!
I have a tarp that I made a couple months ago that I used once just to test. It is intended to be a prototype for tarps that I'll sell. Everything turned out great on it. It is made from 1.1 oz...
I like 6 foot straps personally.
This is definitely a good suggestion. And if you're into DIY, you can get good deals and make your own quilt.
Welcome. I love it! Enjoy spending all of your free time researching!
Agreed. Thank you and sorry to hear it!
I still can't pull the trigger lol. I've been looking forever, but I'm not to the point yet. I wish DIYing one was significantly cheaper than just buying but it really isn't.
I just use my regular hammock suspension.
Yep, loops on each end. I prefer them that way.
I'll add another for the 40* route. I find this is fine for me. If anything I just draft it a bit.
I like to think that RSBTR knows what they're doing. They're upping the width on their robic xl line of material so on my next one, I'm going to try that width (74")
Looks awesome! I keep telling myself to buy one...
What weight of mesh would you suggest? I've been thinking about DIYing one of these.
