You'll totally be warm and comfy with that setup, especially with Oldgringo's suggestion of laying on the synthetic bag. I've done that into the 40's with no pad and just been a tiny bit chilled,...
It was stiff in my recollection, but I don't have too much to compare it to. It looks like it should be super floppy, but it isn't. I tugged on it quite a bit when I first got it to see how gentle...
Not to hijack John, but how can I tell if the tulle I got is polyester or nylon? It seems pretty tough, so I'm thinking it is polyester but I'm no fabric aficionado. It was $1.29 at WM.
That's an interesting place to rip, I would have thought it would fail at the lark's head. I've had a tyvek tarp fail, but it was at a place where the fabric had repeatedly been folded and was pretty...
I've done some backyard camping with my boy who's 5. He's loved the hanging around in a hammock since he was 2, when I first started.
Here's Opie's Continuous Loop tutorial http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13779
And here's another Hammock Stand: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8758

May 11-13 might work for me. That's all I have.
Grab some tulle while you're there for some cheap and easy bugnets!
I'd say yes to this, except that its been about 8% humidity here lately so there's no water in the air to condense. Dry heat indeed.
The pebble rolled in a corner works well. So does using tyvek tape to make a loop for a tie out, much like you'd use webbing on nylon tarps.
That looks fantastic! Everyone wants to know where the Spinn came from......
That's a pretty good idea. How did it work in the rain?
If you've got a sports chalet, the one close to me has webbing. Buy it by the foot.
Where do you guys get this stuff from? Thru-hiker?
Since your question was about hammock body, I'll only address that. You should be able to get away under 7 oz if you use any 1.1oz/yd ripstop and keep the hammock rough measurements to 120"x60" or a...
Thanks for the nice words everyone. It has been fun to put together.
I made myself a whole new setup to lighten my load. Currently I have a DL 1.0 blackbird that is my camping hammock, but I thought that I could perhaps lighten it up a bit and play with some fabric...
I made a Fronkey style bugnet out of tulle as one of the first projects I made with my new machine. I don't have much skill, but a little bit of dexterity and "want to". I measured out the fabric and...
I am 160#.
All the ideas posted here are worth exploring, the plastic, the reuse of some other material and the poly tarp from wmart. Let us know what you end up doing and how it works.
You may have to get really creative to keep it from flopping around since it is pyramid shaped instead of flat, but I bet you can get it done with that.
I've got one done that I have slept in overnight and had no problems with. I was waiting to get the pictures put together for the whole setup before I posted, but I'll give you a teaser. It's a...
I may be in for this. Which cabin are you talking about?
Wow WV, that was some great advice. No wonder no one else has replied. Nuf said.
I used the spare shoelaces for some dress shoes I've never needed.
Glad to see stuff like this. Way to give back.
Yeah, I've made a SL hammock out of it and its only 6.5 oz for the body. I want to make a tarp too, but barely have enough fabric to do it and am waiting patiently for someone to sil theirs up to see...
They roll up just fine. I fold the wings in so they lay flat and roll with them on the inside. It's a lot smaller than 2 full pads together, but not as small as a single pad.
Looks good. Did you do your own sil on it? How did that go?
How about the polycryo ground sheets from gossamer gear? They're clear. since you're in a place where the home improvement stores sell the window insulation film, you could buy that (same as what GG...

These are shots of how I did the lacing.
I just got some 09/70 needles at Joannes and they work much better than the 12/110 needles.
Beautiful. I'm jealous.
Hi Tom,
Welcome from Gilbert!
I washed a piece bigger than that in my regular top loader and it worked fine.
You'll be fine with the whoopies in the channel, even if they're dynaglide.
2 questions for you:
Where are you going?
What was wrong with the polycryo or window film? It is lighter than cuben, no?
Ok, that was 3 questions.
Sold!
Thanks.
I don't really have enough to sell on its own, just enough for someone to make some tie outs on their tarp. Sorry! For about the cost of 2 rolls you could buy all this tyvek and get the last 15' or...
Yup, I use it for a hex shaped tarp myself. It is nearly identical to the Warbonnet edge tarp and weighs in at 15 oz, including all of my tie outs and guy lines.
I've also recently made one for a...
One last bump for this before I pull the listing.
Price drop to $20.
I think it might work as a wind screen for an alcohol stove, but other wise I don't see that it has much insulative value. It claims to reflect heat, not insulate.
Great until you slide the shoelace off the edge of the table and your computer hits the deck.
Too bad your friends wouldn't listen. They would have enjoyed it more.
I used a Kmart pad that is only 20" wide and 1/4" thick. I cut a few strips off the bottom that were about 6" wide and used mason line to lace them together about an inch from the edges of the pads....
Wouldn't it also cost a fortune?
I'll add in the tyvek tape too.
I've got one last piece of Tyvek homewrap that is 9 x 13.5'. I've looked at the online sellers and I'll sell this piece for $20 plus actual shipping costs to you (whatever method you choose) This...
