I carried a double wide 1/4" sleeping pad along with my underquilt while hiking the AT during the spring. The only reason I took the sleeping pad was for the Smokies if I had to stay in a shelter.

I use them with my WBBB and Mt. Washington underquilt. You get the same setup everytime once you get them set where you want them the first time.

I have slept great with or without my pad. I use the pad mainly when it is cold to help keep my shoulders warm.

That is what I do and I have not had a problem.
I use Triangle Thingies on my WBBB at the foot end. I actually use one of the clips to hold the quilt up on the footbox.
