Thanks for the responses. I was leaning towards 4x4’s due to costs, but after that the galvanized pipe would be worth the extra cost for ease of moving around. I was trying to find something to hang...
I haven’t been able to find anything on here (or the internets in general) so wanted to run this by everyone to see if this was feasible or not before I start.
I unfortunately have no trees in my...
Looks awesome, cant wait to start section hiking the CT too
Congrats! Enjoyed following along
This is the best you'll find: https://www.longdistancehiker.com/colorado-trail-2017-posts/
They hung every night but 1 (maybe 2) nights on the trail. The CT is def on my bucket list......
Being relatively new, but only having 1 suspension for the hammock/bugnet (i.e., an integrated bug net) with beetle buckles, and then a continuous ridgeline with a stingerz from Dutch is quite quick...
Looks really cool, never heard of that trail. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing that. Been enjoying following along on Insta too
Will close thread

Thanks for sharing that story, glad it worked out ok-ish in the end. Appreciate the write up (as opposed to a video) too
Another bump
Yeah, I still use the stuff sack as well, but still, way faster and way way easier
Good luck! How can we follow along?

Good to know, thanks for posting your success. This will be helpful info should people be going back and forth putting line tensioners on their tarps
Selling my Colorado Outdoor Gear Supply "Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park" 11-ft Winter Tarp
-Black with blue thread
-11 ft ridgeline
-4 attached doors
-4 tarp pullouts (2 on each...
Maybe I am bad at it, but it always seems to take so long to put the tarp back in the stuff sack. Skins make it soooo much easier and faster and protect the tarp during set up/take down. After only...
I just got a snake skin and like this idea. I have been doing a figure-8 think with my tie outs, but this seems a lot easier and faster with the added benefit of making the snake skin easier to deploy
Good info here, really like the light bulb analogy as a way to conceptualize it
This one seems to be from Dec, 2015. OP, is that the "new" article you came across?
Great link to this thread. Hadnt seen it yet. Now have read the whole thing
Super awesome thread, learned a lot. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences
Good story, thanks for sharing
It'll be interesting to see how many hammockers you encounter on your next thru considering it's not as "friendly" as the AT. Hopefully a few others out there...
Decently long thread going on currently about this subject:
https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/138568-How-do-you-pack-your-snake-skinned-tarps
Well, even though the hammock stuff isn't in the majority it seems like it's increasing (but that may just bc now 1 or 2 people are writing compared to almost 0 before)

Cool video, thanks for sharing
I was looking at your profile on the Trek and you have a tent picture as the "background" type pic! Need to change that to your hammock!
Thanks for the info
Very interesting, never seen anything like that before. Work as well as advertised?
Cool pics!
Side question: what are you wearing on your chest?
Cool vid, I liked the beginning going through how you packed your Circuit. I just got mine and was interested to see where you put diff things.
Agree with the above suggestions about a...
Congrats, looked like a fun and successful trip
Welcome! You're off to a good start if you've found this forum
Good luck with your tweaks, I'll be interested to hear what works for you. I have a HG Incubator and as OutandBack mentioned, it's constructed to help avoid this. I havent been in very cold temps...
Thanks for the review. The tornado thing is interesting, havent ever heard of that before
Im planning a 3-day, 2-night trip this summer on Segments 6 and 7. Cant wait
How do you like it?
I see your point, but as a counter, for some of the higher elevation thru hikes (like the CDT and parts of the PCT) the temps can get quite low even during the summer, so to save money (in the long...
Welcome aboard. This is a great forum full of super useful information
Cool report, looked like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing
Post some pics when you get it set up, I'd like to see that burnt orange
I think I'll take the nighttime noises if I can convince the wifey to let me go solo....
I really really like my Raven. I did cont loops and got beetle buckles and like the simplicity. I should have ordered a RL organizer, but got one from Dutch for a really good price. It was a lot...
What's unique about your new setup? Sweet color combinations?
It's probably easier to vent with a leg out with a sew foot box b/c the bottom is more "together" making it easier to get a foot/leg out b/c it's contained down there right? I have a sewn footbox and...
When I first started laying in mine, I wanted to use the tie outs to stop the swaying, but now after being in the hammock more, I've found (like lots of others) that I really like the gently swaying
