I just saw this. Is this the setup you still use? Any pictures?
I just got a Tato stand and am quite happy to be able to hang in the house and yard. I was wondering what tweaks and preferences people have.
I’m not loving the carabiners as they’re pretty...
I like the spider-poly web and beetle buckles from dutchware. They’re so easy to use and not very heavy. I skip any other hardware and just use the loop.
For kids and people I worry may be...
Shirt answer: Permethrin is fine on nylon, but deet is not.
Go Gators! And my ENO DN is orange and blue. As others have said, I think it's in the middle of the pack in terms of comfort.
Nice pics. I too love that area.
Hello from another Madison-area hammock lover
I got mine today, and it looks pretty good, as Lawson's cord usually does. It's a lot less bulky than the 3mm.
A lot of people prefer to be able to quickly disconnect their suspension from the hammock, especially if the lines get wet.
Very cool!
Is myerstech @ ebay the only place to buy evo loops?
So, you swap out the continuous loop with evoloops on your hammock?
I got one of those, but my daughter stole it. I thought about getting another, but I thought the retail price was a bit high.
I think I might have to get a pair of those fishhooks.
No, it's not a silly question. I'm not 100% sure that I'm laying in the wide Chameleon correctly. I tried a lot of positions and adjusted foot vs head height, etc. There's a lot of room for movement...
I guess I will just have to keep trying out different hammocks!
I think the Chameleon Wide is too wide for me at 5'10", but I do like how roomy it is. When staked out, it's not so bad, but I haven't dialed in the best way to stake it. With the Warbonnet, I never...
I prefer zippered attached nets to Fronkey style, but I do like that the fronkey can be used with just about any hammock.
I just started trying to find the ideal hammock for me, and I tried out a Warbonnet XLC DL, a Dutchware Chameleon Wide DL, and a Dream Hammock Raven SL (58" wide). I found the Raven the most...
Thanks for the replies. They definitely give me some options to explore. How do some of the UHMWPE straps that are in the 3g/ft range compare to the 1.5-2g/ft stuff, like Dynaweave?
I don't need more cord, but I ordered some anyway. I like Lawson's cord, and I often feel like the 3mm is too big but the 2mm seems to abrade quickly. Maybe 2.5mm will be the sweet spot
I'm pretty new to hammocking, but I'm having a lot of fun trying out some new (to me) things. I like ropes and knots, so I'm intrigued by some of the UL hardware-less setups. I'm not sure which ones...
Thanks, Peppy. I received the Raven on Friday and napped in it over the weekend. It was as promised in good condition. I am really pleased.
I'll take the raven. Just let me know your PayPal info.
Mine 50/50 shirt arrived yesterday. Thanks Shug.
I'm pretty sure it's the 1.1 oz here.
As long as you don't store down wet, it should fully recover from longterm compression. It may take longer or a bit if effort to fluff it up, but it will be fine as long as it's dry enough to prevent...
Paul, the more I look at your gear, the more impressed I get. Very nice.
Interesting (re: tri-rings). Are they standard and included in the stated weights?
What are the triangle-looking rings on the inside for?
Well, those car campers may just be hikers testing out their gear before hitting the trail. I always try out my critical gear in the front country before heading to the back country.
Howdy. Since I'm pretty new here too, I don't usually welcome people, but I was up your way (in Chilton) a couple weeks ago visiting some in-laws, so I thought I should say hi. I'm told there are...
I'm getting excited about this setup. I'm wondering if it could be setup without trees. I've been considering some paddling trips were there aren't many trees (beachy shores) and am wondering if this...
No, we thank you for being such a class act.
Thanks for posting a reply. In the pictures, it appears that with the end pole mod the tarp can put in porch mode without trekking poles by lengthening the guy lines. Is that right? The bending of...
I got this message too. Do we simply reply to that email? I'll do so later tonight.
On another thread someone mentioned that the poles might be fiberglass. Is that the case?
So, does the pole make an arch? Is it a single pole for each end? Does it attach to the underside of the tarp at all?
I have an EE Revelation, and I thought I might "use it like a blanket", but I never really have. I still keep thinking that some day I might find a need to use it unzipped, but I can't actually think...
I appreciate all the advice. I ordered an EE 20 degree long. I'm sure that as I gain experience, I'll discover other schemes that will be lighter and work better for certain conditions or trips, but...
How low of temperature do you feel comfortable with the 40? My reasoning against a 40 UQ is that I don't use my 40 TQ as much as other quilts and get chilly below 50 with it since I don't wear a lot...
Winter camping is on my radar, but it will probably wait until next winter. If (ok, who am I kidding, WHEN) I get hooked, I've got my eye on an overstuffed UGQ 0 degree Zeppelin. I'm not sure I...
I'm about to pull the trigger on my first underquilt and thought I would solicit advice before doing so. I've decided to go with a full length version since I'd rather not complicate my first setup...
I find anything less than about 1mm to be unpleasant to handle and tie up, but this stuff will definitely be strong enough for guy lines.
Thanks for the pictures. It's helpful. I think I like the idea of the overlapping doors of the WB SF better. I'd like to try out a silpoly tarp, but maybe I'll try it in a different tarp.
Well, I happen to think power windows are better, so I'd like to actually to hear from anyone who has actual information about the pros/cons of each. I have a good amount of experience with silnylon...
If anyone has a close-up of the Winter Dream doors and their attachment, I'd love to see it.
Without seeing them up and close, it's hard to tell that the Winter Dream is "more aggressively cut". Other than the width being 4 inches shorter (2" on each side), I'm not sure I see what you mean.
Shug's winter camping videos have me interested in trying winter camping. I spent a night out this weekend (on the ground as I don't have an underquilt yet) with a low of 22. Not exactly a typical WI...
