I had a set of the first edition of these. There really isn't any instructions on use. We just played around with different ways to use them.

My kids, 8-18, and I have used 5.0 quilts from 60 and below. If it is too warm you can always vent it or slip it to the side. Also if you make the quilts, ypu can size them so the younger kids can't...
35* I would go with 5.0. I've had mine to the upper 20s and that seemed about the limit for me.

So you ripped your hammock on a protruding object in your yard and some how it is their fault and they should eat the loss?
Not following the logic on this one. Yes it sucks, but no it isn't...
Not at all.

I snapped amsteel on my first attempt. I suggest using steel cable.

Read this post. Also I have another post linking some couplers that would make this stand 2" x 4" x 48"

$25 and an hour to make one. A few skipped sodas a week will pay for it.

Contributing to a forum is one of the best ways to keep a forum going. I've been on a variety of forums over the years and when there are not so many posts except the for sale section I tend to drop...
Let me know. I have 4 boys ranging from 9-18

Yes, I have one of their 30* bags and a tent from them. Both are very nice pieces of equipment.

Mine are much the same as yours. However I have a few more inches between where the bury exits and the prussik. I think with yours so close the prussik isn't grabbing properly.

Having been the first one to post the EMT build I can assure you that it can be done under $25. I'm guessing you were looking at ridged conduit and not EMT conduit. The $21 you saw might also be a...
Thank you. I'm on my phone and couldn't readily dig for the link when I posted that.
I've vacationed a ton in Michigan (Mainly Bellaire in the NW of the LP). You might want to look into canoe camping as well. Tons of awesome water routes.
Buried about half way in the huge original DIY thread is a link to a company that sells connectors that work great for what you want to do. They are about $6 each if I remember correctly.

Just my opinion. I've made 3 5.0 quilts and a 7.5 quilt. The 5.0s are good to around 30 as others have said. I never tried the 7.5 but I will tell you it was huge packed.
With the current...
You can hang your pack from one while being used in a MSH.

Back up about 400 posts and there is a link to some connectors that will work.

A bit expensive and short but otherwise would probably work.

Yes it will work. It's the only way I do it. Broke a few sticks as toggles and went to biners instead.

$21 and 30 minutes you can build your own tensa stand.

I'm on my phone so I can't provide a link. But look back at my post history and I have a few step by step posts on making a tq. Also I agree with what has been said in hyperD1.6 might be a bit heavy...
I just put my tarp up with some shock cord from apex to apex. Worked fine with a 11.5' tarp.

Using 1" emt conduit should support your son.
I've put close to that in mine with little to no flex.

I think there is some confusion of using a separate ridgeline. If you currently have a ridgeline on your hammock just hang your hammock on the stand and everything will work fine.

I just use the ridgeline I use anywhere else. Mines fixed at around 83%

Looking forward to hearing how they work.

I know 3/4 emt conduit will.

I'm pretty sure what you are looking at is referred to here as rigid metal conduit as opposed to the EMT that we have been referring to. EMT has a thinner wall thickness so threading it is...
That's interesting. Haven't seen that in any of my local supply houses. The only thing I've seen locally is the rigid conduit like that.
Not sure how that would work as 1" and 3/4" EMT have different dimensions that 3/4" and 1" Plumbing pipe does. But if you could get the coupler to nest inside of the 1" you might be able to just...
How about carrying no ground poles and being prepared for this.

I'm 220lbs and use 3/4" with almost no notable flex. I haven't really stress tested it but I did see (and I think there is a link in this thread) a video showing 3800# applied to a 2 or 3ft section...
IF I'm doing my math correct (no guarantees on that) 1 stand broken down into 8 4' lengths using 3/4" EMT should net approximately 256 cu-in without nesting plus what little bit some connectors would...
I don't think you would be dropping the bulk substantially by using a 1 5/8" fence pole (1.66" diameter). A 3/4" emt conduit (.922 diameter) broke into 3 pieces would be a similar bulk.
And the winner is:

This site has an assortment of connectors for 3/4 and 1" EMT conduit. I think the one linked above should allow the stand...
I have tried this and I can save you from another fall and tell you it doesn't work. The pole will cut the amsteel.

I thought about making a 3 pole design but haven't had time yet. The head side as normal, the foot side with 1 pole attached to the cross support of the other two with guy lines running back to the...
Might consider building one for your 10-11' hammocks with a 2' extension for the 14'. From my testing I would say a 10' pole length ought to be about right for the 14' hammock.

We were in sand this week with no issues. You could use rubber chair leg covers. I wouldn't be worried about slippage as much as damage to the indoor surface.

Where the attachment is doesn't seem to be important. I drilled mine close to the ends and pulled the steel cable sorta tight. Also tested by lashing with amsteel or ratchet strapping. Amsteel...
Simple floppy tarp fix. Since my crl is 25 or 30ft long I ran it through the ends and tied it back onto itself with loop of shock cord. ...
My hammocks are roughly 11'
I haven't hung a tarp on them yet. My plan is to use a fiberglass pole (think driveway marker) so that I can put some tension on the crl.
The steel cables don't have...

3/4" emt conduit with 220lbs in it. I used steel cable to hold the conduit together.

4x 1' $.36 per foot
4x cable clamps...
