Thanks, the only thing I messed up was not setting it high enough, was a little too low. But after 10 miles and carrying other peoples gear I was too tired to fix it. haha
I was going to try...
Thank you everyone for the help!
Using the V method I was able to get the tarp TAUT, and low enough to protect myself from the rain over the weekend.
Still on that learning curve, but things...
Photos are below.
Thanks Shug, that is my concern. Just confused as I have seen people using 12 and 13 ft tarps with their hammocks, figured it was a user error on my end. Looking to get a...
It’s not rubbing the ridge line, it’s rubbing the actual tarp.
I know I can hang the tarp higher, but this wouldn’t protect me from rain or wind if I did. And if I hang the hammock so the tarp is...
Suspension rubs the tarp* my bad
Not using Paracord. Dutch Ridgeline with zing it
I have been playing with this for a couple months, I have read everything I can find, and watch some videos, but no matter what I do, my suspension rubs the tarp, or completely pulls my tarp stakes...
I apologize for the delayed response, and how jumbled this response will be. Crazy busy with the holidays around the corner.
Still working with it.
To answer a few questions that were asked -...
Thanks OneClick,
Thats kinda what I was looking for. While I am sure there is a user error on my end, I also want to be sure my expectations aren't set too high.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I am going to try again this evening to hang it, and start from zero and maybe inch my way there.
All of the feedback is very much appreciated. Will give a...
Went on a trip last week where it dropped down to 30 degrees. My incubator is rated for 20. I woke up freezing, and it did not seem to matter what I did with my primary, or secondary suspension,...
I have a pillow, but I don't always use it.
The thing is I have never had this issue before until now. And even with a pillow in the hammock, it would fall out cause the side of the hammock is...
As stated in another post, I have been able to use my Sparrow more frequently now that I am done with a move.
I have noticed that I cannot lay my head while laying in the hammock, its almost like...
Thanks All,
I have gotten it more tuned in, and I can get it less noticeable, but I cant seem to get the same lay no matter how hard I try. Will keep trying different things I try, but y'all have...
Thanks for getting back to me PapaSmurf!
In my hammocks before I actually always found myself laying head right feet left, so I don't think preference is the issue. I am going to give it another...
Sorry for the delayed response. I have been moving and it has taken up all of my free time.
You can see photos in the link below.
I can't believe I did this, but used it last weekend on a...
A couple months ago my Sparrow finally came in the mail.
Used it in the back yard a few times, but got it in during the middle of a move so was not able to really test it until last weekend.
...
Thanks everyone! May reconsider to the ringworm's unless they have them in stock.
That is certainly the master plan, but right now I don't see myself camping in anything under 20 degrees in the immediate future.
This is my concern. Thinking I am going to get a 40 degree...
Thanks Turtle!
That's what I was thinking. I don't want to get anything else right now. And I travel north to camp more frequently so I feel the 20 degree will work for everything along with a 40...
Thanks CMC!
I will edit the thread name. Also, my apologies on posting this in the wrong area.
Did not see an option to get notified, not a huge deal. Just curious if its any time soon as I...
Recently purchased an Incubator 20 degree UQ from HG. Curious if anyone else uses a 20 degree UQ in the AL heat?
I am aware when its warm enough it really isn't needed, but I have woke up (after...
That is awesome!
Mine should be coming in soon. Order #8342, and I too have been checking it daily. I ordered a tarp from UGQ & my UQ & TQ to match from HG. Really excited about getting it all in!...
Anyone know how long it usually takes for Dutch to get Fleaz back in stock? I have seen a few posts about this before, but they were from years back.
Cheers,
Fred
Thanks IrishSitter,
The pullouts are actually something else I was curious about. Do you think using trekking poles as the pullouts would cause any issues?
I have tried searching and have only found little information regarding the durability of 15D silpoly tarps.
There seems to be plenty of people having no issues with 20D, but have not seen many...
Thanks Silvr, I am leaning toward sym, primarily because I am indecisive. haha
Thanks O&B, what do you primarily find yourself using your top cover for? Is it really just a privacy thing?...
I would strongly suggest an 11' x 5' hammock suggested by Phantom.
From experience I tried to go the budget route, and it would have been cheaper just to start with a netless hammock from dutch,...
Curious if anyone can help me out here.
I have been trying to search the site, and while I understand an asymmetrical lay is because the shape of the bugnet/overcover, and that it prevents you...
Yes, the anticipation is something I did not expect, but I am straight giddy for this thing to get here. Funny you should says that you made all of those changes. I already made one, and I have a...
Exactly what I was looking for Benchmark! To a tee you have described it thus far for me. I have already started checking my order number 2 times a day, and I am 7 weeks out from getting it. Haha,...
So... I went ahead and pulled the trigger on my first custom Hammock. With all the choices out there it was tough, but with the material they use and being located in my home state I went with Dream...
I know, I should have been more clear. I did not see this event until after I made other plans for a camping trip in Ohio this weekend with my father.
It will certainly be on my calendar next...
Wish I checked this section more often. Have been wanting to get out to these since last year when I started hammock camping. Well kinda, I start on the hammock, then go to ground every time. But...
Lucky enough to live in an apartment that butts up against the woods and a lake.

Thanks everyone!
I currently have a hammock that was bought for me that I did a knotty mod to that has a zipper. I ran it through the channel below the zipper, and it works just fine. It may...
I did reach out to them, and they said they were unable to do a knotty mod on any hammock that has zippers, which I am not trying to mess up their system.
The tie outs are a great option, just...
Curious if anyone has a DH Sparrow, and has done, or know if you can do a knotty mod to it? I know that the tie outs solve the same issue, however I am rather fond of the knotty mod method and how...
Thanks everyone! Exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.
I'll let everyone know what I am thinking about doing. May end up making it larger, and if it doesn't seem necessary trim it down....
Thanks OldPappy,
I looked at those places, but I guess my concern was the width on both of those. If my memory serves me right the Economy at HG is 44" wide and I believe the Arrowhead Jarbridge...
In the process of buying material and planning a build. In researching UQ's I have come to find there are many different shapes and sizes.
My intentions for the hammock being made is a car...
Yes I was curious of that as well. I may also verify that the height they are describing is the height from the ground up, not the length the poles can extend to. I have a sneaking suspicion this is...
Been doing some research and came across this hammock stand. It claims it can be adjusted out to 13ft in length, and 5ft in height. I plugged it into the hang calculator and it seems that you could...
Thanks again! I think I do need a wider hammock, it seems I have almost eliminated it with this pvc pipe, but can’t stretch out without my feet popping out (even with a knotty mod).
Also thanks...
Thought I would give an update on this.
I used 1/2 inch pvc pipe (5”) with 2 90s on each end. Then sawed some connectors down so they can slide completely over the 1/2 pipe and sawed a section out...
That is good to know as I am looking to invest in a longer hammock. What material have you had success with to help with the calf ridge?
I am currently looking at the Chameleon with the 1.6...
I appreciate the input. I think I am going to give it a try. Likely will run the pole through the gathered end though. the hammock I am trying this one will easily fit one through and allow me to run...
You aren't joking.
Thanks Leiavoia!
I should specify. Did it work as far as eliminating the calf ridge? And what were the downsides to it?
