Great information, thank you!

Thank you for that correction ;) What are your thoughts on the diamond configuration with that tarp? I actually just got it and set it up. It looked pretty good, but it’s going to be a Christmas gift...
Hey there, I was wondering if anyone had any experience using this tarp for hammock camping, and specifically in bad weather? Thanks!

Hey there!
The 1” (sometimes 2”) rule is just for your hammock as far as I know. Some of the State Parks require 2”, you’d just have to call and ask. Since the tarp is not holding a persons...
Hey, I’m not a 100% sure, it just just said ripstop nylon. Or I didn’t really understand the label? Anyway, it’s a pretty firm fabric. It’s not the one I’d pack up with for camping, but it did build...
For sure! ;)

So this is my first attempt at a hammock. I just picked up some ripstop fabric and thread at Hobby Lobby (because that’s where I was at the time with the wife) and talked her into letting me try...
Sorry, but I have a few more honorable mentions... tarp sleeves, Loop Aliens and reflective guy lines. All three helped in big ways with either setup and take down or just not tripping over my lines...
1.4 11’ HG hammock, bottom entry bug net, Quest tarp, 2T’s hammock chair (which I loved to keep my other gear off the ground) and 15 foot beetle buckle suspension with Dutch clips. I also made sure...
Well, I had my first big hammock adventure and I wanted to say “Thank you!” I camped in my hammock for a week in the mountains of Georgia. It was such a smooth experience because of all that I have...
Great info, thank you to all! As much as I want to feel that 1.8, the fact that you mentioned it not packing as small is a pretty big factor for my current needs/wants. I think I will go for the 1.0...
So... I’d like to make my “right of passage” DYI hammock just for the fun of it. My go to hammock and one that it would have to be as good as would be my awesome Hammock Gear 1.4 polyD. I was...
Awesome, thanks! I was trying to think of a reason they wouldn’t work, but I guess they’ll fit the bill nicely ;)

So I have the Tensa 4 with The heavier straps. I want to get the Tensa Solo conversion kit. If I already have a few extra whoopie slings laying around, can I just order the kit and use my whoopies? ...
Thank you both! I think I’ll do the same and not seam seal it. I suppose I could always do it at a later date if I wanted or if I ever did notice a leak? Anyway, thank you for sharing your...
I have this on order and wanted to find out what others have experienced or done. Thanks!

I have spent close to $300 (probably more) on various hammocks and components over time trying to get into this cheap. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that because it’s what I was able to...
One more thing... you don’t need a ridge line to hang it if you don’t need one ;)

Hey, I also bought a net-less hammock from HG. I got the bottom entry net from them as well, but I believe it’s the one Dutch sells on his site. I used it this weekend and it is awesome! Very easy to...
Just wanted to check in with an update... got the HG hammock yesterday and slept wonderful in last night! It’s a tight hang in my spot, but it was dreamy...
Me, right now waiting for my new HG hammock coming tomorrow, watching Shug videos when this topic popped up on my screen...
The order is in for HG hammock and I also ordered the whoopie hook suspension (minus the tree huggers because I have plenty) from Dutch. I can’t wait to try them out! Thanks again for everyone...
The woodland camo is what was pulling me to Dutch but now I’m going to go with my first choice which was the HG 1.4. I just wanted to hear from someone that tried both. Thank you!

Hey all,
I’m looking to get either the HG 1.4 polyD net less hammock or the Dutch 1.6 hexon net less hammock... Thoughts from anyone who has had both? I’m 198lb. 5.6 feet.

Anyone have some good hammock camping experiences in Florida? I was looking at Lake Kissimmie State park.

Thanks for all the great information! My order hasn’t been fulfilled yet, so I’ll be changing my order today. Since I only see myself getting one serious top quilt, (I made a DYI Costco for cool to...
Thank you all for the great information! I think I’m going to change my order to the wide just to have the extra and not have the “I wish I would have” syndrome :)
What about the zipper vs sewed...
I’m in that same boat as both my kids are in Scouts right now and sometimes I don’t have the option to hammock camp. I’ll probably keep what I ordered, but won’t know for sure until I get it. I also...
Hey! I ordered my Econ HG top quilt. 20°, Standard length, standard width, 2oz overfill. I don’t plan on doing much ground camping, but what are experienced users thoughts on getting the wide option?...
I just realized that you were referring to a sleeping bag, but still looking forward to your thoughts, thanks!

Was it bad enough of an odor that made you regret getting it vs the pros of being economical?

Great info, thanks! I’ll keep watching this thread, and check out those other threads. Seeing that they use the same stuff sack answers the pack ability issues I was also wondering.
Thanks again...
Hey everyone,
Can anyone talk about their experience with both the Econ and premium top and bottom quilts? I know one is duck vs goose down. I like the price of the Econ and I think I’d only need...
I agree with what others have said. I made a DYI Costco UQ with cam snaps. I do love it and live in FL. That said, it still won’t keep me comfortable below 40° and I had to buy the tools, the quilts...
Hey, welcome! Being somewhat new here myself, (and in FL) what are some of your favorite places to hang in FL?

Hey I was just wondering, is there any negative side to just going from your continuous loop to a tree strap with either a slippery half hitch or a becket...

Hey, I’d also like to know if a double layer is any less comfortable than a single layer? I’d like the idea of being able to use a pad in between instead of an under quilt.
As far as suspensions...
Just checking in to say thank you again for all of these responses. I keep reading every one of them and appreciate them. It will be just a bit before I do it, but I’ll be sure to check in when I do....
OMG! I have so much to read now...in my hammock ;)

Thanks for this find as well. The video I saw had a guy use this after he used the enu option. Thanks again everyone for the positive reinforcement. I’ll update when I do it ;)

These are what I was going to use, but saw a video where they said the indent from tightening down made a bigger indent. Was that your experience? If so, I might still lean towards the eyebolt.
So I’m wanting to hang inside in a typical Florida home, 2x4 behind drywall using eyebolts. Has anyone had any bad experience with this? I’m about 198 lbs and my wife would kill me if I rip the walls...
Hey! Welcome from a newbie here in FL!

Good info on the Amok. It’s a cool device noisy or not ;) Nice film too. Her response at the end made me want to learn more.
