I look forward to this weekend all year! Truly bummed out I cant make it.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it this year. Work stuck me with a new guy who entire family is sick as a dog, so now I’m in the same boat.
Right on. I’m 90% sure I’ll be there Thursday. So hopefully I’ll see ya there !
Is anyone planning on getting there Thursday? I’m working on a job in manistee and am thinking of just heading to the park after work Thursday night.
For sure!
Michigan side.
Hey folks,
The wife and I are starting to plan a trip to isle royal fall 2024. Does anyone have any suggestions of their favorite route to go, hammock friendly camp sites, etc.
we plan to do...
Ol St. Nick will be there with bells on!
Right on. If I end up with Thursday off I’m planning to be there. Will I need to pay a ranger for the extra day or just square up with you later?
Also how’s the snow looking down there?
Anyone showing up earlier than Friday? I might end up with some time off work and wanted to show up Thursday.
It is a state campground and you can drive right in. If you have wood available it will be welcomed for sure.
I’ll be there!
How does a fella go about ordering one of these? I have gone back and forth on building one myself as I’ve made several tarps and modified lots of gear but this might be a bigger project than I want...
On facebook there is a group for michigan hammock forums. A guy is trying to put together a hang near dollar lake in a few weeks.
If I were to guess, it was trying to use a lightweight fabric to save a few ounces. I only had this hammock for a couple years.

Second day in on a hike in the SHT. Luckily I was able to get a ride out the next day, found a replacement in Tofte, and was back at it the next day!
Thanks for the tip!
Hey I'm planning a maybe 2 night trip on the NCT in the up near Marquette. Does anyone know if camping is allowed near little garlic falls and also the area around hogback mountain. ? It is on state...
We ended up with 2" of snow at our camp near headquarters lake!
That is me and my wife's favorite section! I'm hitting up the NCT/ Fife lake loop today!
Thanks Dave, that was very helpful.
Hey anybody hike the NCT section from red bridge to udell trailhead? I've done the NCT/mrt loop a lot of times and am wondering if anyone has hiked south of red bridge. Is it good? Decent...
This was a great weekend with lots of good times! Hope to run into some of you folks again soon!
Loading up and heading out! See you there!
I'll be there!
I would use larger than 3/4 EMT or use 3/4 rigid conduit.3/4 EMT is not that strong.
I think im going to be a maybe, depending on work schedule.
right near gaylord you have the Jordan river valley loop which is on the NCT and the pigeon river area is not far either. Both places I have camped many times!
Wish I could make it, but I'll be in da yoop!
I love the section from 12 rd north of mesick to Old 131 campground! That new section of the NCT is a good one too! unfortunately there is a lot of garbage along there as you noticed. Looks like a...
This turned put to be a pretty gull durn fine time!
Thanks, got it
How does one go about writing an administrator?
So how does one go about a screen name change? I have a trail nickname that I would like to make my screen name.
I'll see you then!
Bring beer for 50?!?? I hope that the one case of strohs lite I found can be spread a little thin....
Got my gear basically ready.
Is there anything missing from the spreadsheet that would be a big need?
I will definitely bring beer, and be joining at Jamesport at noon.
Also, would it offend anyone if a few beers showed up?
It will just be myself going, wife cant make it.
this may seem an obvious question, but we can basically drive up to where we will be camping or do we have to park else where?
Yes it was! Probably the craziest storms I've camped in.
I plan to go, my wife is a maybe. I believe some of us met in the Porkies last October.
Unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it. I went a tore the front of my house off to install a few simple windows and it has turned into a bigger project than anticipated.
Me and my wife did that section last year. Excellent views!
I have a friend that is a park ranger there. She says that fall is the busiest time in the porkies. But it's a big place so it shouldn't be too bad.
So I pulled the trigger on two 12 hex tarps. one in blue and one in olive. Stoked!
Me and my wife are looking to buy new tarps to replace our diy tarps we made a few years ago. Looking at the UGQ hex tarps in a 12ft RL. Only question is is the sil poly worth the extra money over...
I will be there!
I'm gathering this is a drive in camp out?
Ive done that loop a few times. Pretty nice hike. I have winter camped by the site at the rail bridge.
