Some of the big box stores carry the all-encompassing bug nets for 20 or 30 dollars, not a bad option in a pinch, and cool as a Summer breeze.
Hope it went well, would love to see photos!
Beautiful area, thanks for taking us along!
Great trip, thanks for sharing! I think the biggest death-bed regret for a lot of people is the time wasted on seeking money, the approval of strangers and status, rather than spent with loved ones...
I was really hoping to make this, but I need to get my wife to the airport early (and I do mean early) Sunday morning. Have fun, I look forward to meeting everyone some other time!

That desert hang is just wicked. Well done! Get a wind sock to fend off the occasional dust storm and you could do Burning Man.
This is a very strong selling point to me, more site options and the ability to shift with the wind when desired (I can break the wind like a horse already).
Awesome info, thanks all!
Quick thought, if you like keeping the hammock low, it might actually be a bit easier to first go to one knee on the ground next to the hammock as you get out instead of straining to get up to a...
Most excellent, Shug, thanks!
Food looks great and I'll be taking a spin on that dirt bike if no one objects... :D
Looks like a great time! Someone brought a chair I see. I almost regret not hauling mine up the mountain recently, although it may have killed me in process!
Finally did my taxes and I've got some change coming, so of course I'm thinking of another hammock. I'd like to go with an XLC, but I'd like some reassurance regarding the head / footbox orientation...
Awesome! Using a ridgeline was a big breakthrough for me. Something to look into if you haven't already. Hammockgear.com has one pre-made which is plenty strong and won't stretch (I first tried...
Hello Charlotte and thanks! The tarp is just a budget model I snagged off Amazon. I love it, although I think it's probably a bit heavy compared to some.

Did my first official hammock excursion (solo) and had a blast! Went to Race Brook Falls area, which I had visited 2 weeks ago with my son. We made it from the trail head on Rt 41 to the...
An external, all-encompassing Wise Owl (or other) bug net might be a good extra layer of defense. Sounds like an extreme situation, better safe (and comfortable) than sorry.

Wow, great information! I will strive to play it cool and not stress the system more than necessary.
Thanks all for the input, much appreciated!
Greetings!
I've seen many youtube videos recommending a specific tension or degree of twist or slack in the ridgeline for a hammock. This is fine when the trees are fairly close together, but in...
Thank you Shug!
From my limited experience with overnight cold weather hammocking, I have found that wind really seems to be the culprit for temp loss over time, both over as well as underneath the hammock itself. ...
Thanks all. Group hang would be a hoot! I'll keep an eye out for one I can reach.
Hey there!
New hammocker as of this year, can't wait to get out of the back yard and into the wild! Currently sporting a Hammock Bliss BugFree Sky Bed coupled with a Big Agness Air Core Ultra...
