Thanks. But I don't think that Tensa thing would work for me. Is that really all there is? :(

Thanks. But I don't think that Tensa thing would work for me. Is that really all there is? :(
Hi all! 👋
I haven't been here in a while. Life got in the way for my camping plans, but I still have hope. The few nights I slept in my hammock I slept incredibly well though.
I often wake up...
In that case why not simply cut a foam sleeping mat down to dog size? It's both cheap and light and you can get just about any thickness you need.
You mean it's their own name for the material? Then what is it really?
UP is a performance-oriented technical insulation that is lightweight, compressible and completely water resistant. UP has...
That's a new one for me. Looks like a good price too. What is UP though, pray tell? Googling abbreviations is hard...
Nah. This is loofah.

Now I just need to figure out how to get a hammock into either of them.
My ideal setup would be to hike alone. Well, I bike actually. Or trike really. But it would be nice if company could suddenly emerge when I rest and in the evening. Not always, just from time to...
WTF is loofah? In this context. I know the kind you scrub you feet with, but surely that's not what you talk about.
Ah, I know RyanAir. I misunderstood, thought they were Polish companies.
Yeah, it seems it gets drier everywhere. In Poland too, I guess? We had a larger fire than last summer's in 2014. What's...
Nice pictures. I live only around 100 km from Tyresta, but I've never been there.
Just one thing though...
Alas, that's not so. Last summer, which was extremely hot and dry with forest fires...
Or I guess you could use one to fasten a line so you can pull it up when you want to reach something in it. If you hang it under the hammock, that is.
I did email DD, but they haven't answered....
There are quite a few of them.:p
I guess I'll write to DD and ask. I hate mysteries. And maybe, maybe they are for something really useful, essential even, that I'll never figure out on...
I guess I just need to get off my *** and get out there and see for myself, right? ;)
Thanks for the explanation. I've wondered what "structural" really means. Do I understand it right that it...
I don't find a forum for off topic (for everyone), so I post this here.
Swedish television is live-streaming from a moose migration, for several weeks it seems, beginning today.
Here is what...
Yup, that's what I meant.
So now I'm confused again. hutzelbein said if you have a hammock with a fixed ridgeline, you don't need to pay any attention to the hang angle.
...
@hutzelbein & boothbot
Thank you ever so much for this information. I've yet to hang for the first time (winter is back here), but I've thought so much about this angle thing and how Tom Hennessy...
I don't have a DD Hammock, I have a Hennessy, but I bought the DD gear sling. I can't figure out what the woven loops that are sewn to the sides of the sling are for. A special DD feature?...
Pillow arrived today. It's lovely. I'm glad I chose the large though. It becomes much smaller than the stated size when it's stuffed and the draw cord is tensioned. It really works. There's enough...
I could at last order the Thermarest down pillow (the large that I wanted was out of stock a while) and it dispatched today. So in a few days I'll know if it's comfy or not.
Large, celestial blue....
Funny how things coincide. I mentioned earlier it's common to need to go more often when riding a recumbent. A guy at a recumbent forum gave us a plausible physiological explanation the other day. I...
Of course! That's what I'll do. Thank you. :)
There are some examples here of pitching a standard Hennessy on the ground. I guess that should work with any other hammock of the same type as well.

Ooo! I said my first bad word! :jj:
I've also considered a bin. Partly because I have limited wardrobe space (the bin can be placed on top of the wardrobe) but also because I live in an old house where we have some bug problems. It...
I've never used my HH but I knew. :shades:
Thing is, before buying I asked Hennessy support if I could get rid of the net in case I didn't need it and a nice lady explained to me how it works,...
I don't like inflatable, so I'm thinking of getting this one. Sort of a stuffable down shell.
...
Got it! :jj:
But did you exchange the ropes or did you keep the original ones?
I'm so confused about all suspensions and buckles and things. I'll do the knot to begin with until I've learned a little more.
Yeah. I found the below at The Ultimate Hang. I've also verified that the Hennessy hammocks do have a SRL.
Traditionally, the Hennessy is shown being pitched very tight across the anchor points....
I found one of those videos I talked about where it definitely look like the angle changes when the hammock is loaded. Start looking at about 7:15. The line looks pretty straight, then when the guy...
Totally inexperienced as I am, I still wonder...
There may be an advantage of lying between tie-outs, but I really don't see where the zip comes into it. As I see it two of four possible positions...
I get it now. Thanks. I didn't realize what, of course, happens to the net when the hammock is folded.
Well, I won't sell the hammock anytime soon as Hennessy has a special on the zip version this...
No, the asym is about the tie-outs. On one side it's at knee level and on the other side it's between elbow and shoulder height.
Scroll down to What does "asym" mean here....
Yeah, I think I read it somewhere before I got the hammock, so probably at their site.
Same here. Except I haven't even sat in mine yet.
I don't think so, because the main reference point is the zip. It must have to do with the tie-outs.
Well, it's good so many long...
Sorry, I didn't see your post before. Yeah, I've read about that mod. It's just we are on the other side of the Atlantic. Apart from 2 x shipping costs there would probably import duty and VAT on...
There's also a bit about centering the left side tie-out between one's shoulder and elbow. Maybe there's some advantage in lying with your body between the tie-out points?
Thanks. Great to know. I don't have a dog ATM, but I plan to get one again.
Odd though Hennessy give so explicit directions. Zipper to the right, head to the left, feet to the right. Maybe it's meant just as an example of how to lie diagonally.
What do you do in it during the day? Use it for resting?
Darn. I only have 81 gears. :woot::D
Nice setup. I already found out BTW. :p
Thanks! Looks easy enough to change the rope. But I'm splicing no woopies anytime soon. :D
Hey! I see we have the same hammock. Content with yours? What trike do you have BTW? Scorpion FX here -...
You guys that sleep with your dog in the hammock, you don't find there's a problem with their claws harming the fabric?
Welcome. And you are also welcome to Sweden later on. Hope you'll have a great time here. :)
Thanks guys. Very good and detailed information, cougarmeat. What you say about getting the right sag first sounds like sound advice. I may not have thought of that hadn't you told me. Now I know a...
Yes! Exactly my point. It must be very hard to do when in the hammock. Now, if you have a friend with you, that's another thing.
Thanks for the link to the abbreviation page. I had missed that but...
Sorry, what does SRL mean? ESL status here. :D
Thanks for the tips. Although I didn't under understand your 1 and 3, Vanhalo. Number 5 I've seen on youtube. Seems doable.
Surely the 30 deg is when loaded? That's what I've read everywhere. If...
Well, since it's freezing cold and the snow is deep, I can't go out and try my new hammock, so I'm thinking a lot about it instead. Maybe over-thinking even.
Seems that accomplishing the optimal...
Thank you. I was afraid it would somehow put additional strain on the webbing. But when I think of it, it's probably the same load.
I'll see if I get some kind of easier to adjust setup later. I...
Thank you guys! Feels good to know how things are done before they need to be done.
Hope mine doesn't need splicing. I do know how to splice, but my practice is on thicker ropes when I had a...
