I'll take it! The web-slinger bridge hammock
Looks great. I'll take it.
Sounds good. Do you know the weight of the quilt? Was it the 850 down?
Welcome to the forums! I think we all wish more time to hang!
Been using full-length for a long time and really want to give a partial length UQ a try. Interested in a 20 degree 3/4 length underquilt. Weight and space are the reasons, so looking for goose down...
Very cool :thumbup1:
Howdy from a fellow (er...former) Texan! Sounds like you made a good choice on the RR. Enjoy!
SLD has something like that: https://simplylightdesigns.com/collections/stuff-sacks-pouches/products/hammock-quilt-catch-all-sack
Welcome from NJ. Good luck with your first hammock purchase!
Sounds like a good solution. Thanks for sharing
It's generally recommended to store them in a dry place in a breathable container. If they are properly aired and dried out, then it seems reasonable that an airtight plastic container would be fine....
That's some good work. First sewing project? Looks like you got the hang of it quickly.
Stackable bins would be convenient, but you found your quilts breathe well enough in them? Or you put some holes in the plastic? I had read not to use a lid if storing them in plastic containers, but...
Welcome to the forums!
Yep, large cotton bags and stored on an out-of-the-way shelf where they won't be compressed.
+1
Never remove the bishop bag from one end of the hammock anyway. Like this idea.
I had a HH years ago as well and my dad had one also. Ours both had much less sag than other hammocks also. The ridgeline in my HH backpacker was often low and in the way. If I tied at roughly 30...
Welcome from NJ, Swami!
Anecdotal but I have a moroccan blue top quilt that I've used during many a buggy season with no mosquito issues.
Love it. Thanks for sharing
Definitely, the econ HG quilts are a great option. Go for the premium quilts if space in your pack is a high priority.
I like these straps:...
I just picked colors that seemed fun at the time. I have a couple muted tones (black, brown) and a couple that are bright blue and green. I like the idea of having all different colors to make it...
I got my dad to start hammocking when he was still weighing in around 240 lbs. His comment was that it was much more comfortable than a tent. He would still prefer to stay at a lodge or cabin and day...
Welcome to the forums! Look forward to seeing some pics of all your DIY gear.
Thanks for sharing the video. Looks like a great trip! Jealous of all that snow. I'm cold just watching...
Great work! Looks warm and comfy
Hello Ace, glad to have you here!
Also using Walmart Y stakes. Bought them at least 5 years ago for a quick outing since they were cheap. Figured when they broke I'd replace them with something better. Couple are bent but none have...
:thumbup1: Sounds like a good plan
The video shared above seems pretty straight forward. My two cents: I recommend changing the ropes out for a continuous loop. This gives you plenty of options for suspension and you can always change...
I have an ENO top quilt that's hardly been used. It's duck down and ENO rated it to about 35 degrees. Let me know if you want pics. I'd sell for $85.
Sounds like you have the basics covered. That's some really great gear on the way, all that's left is to get out and enjoy it!
Welcome! Every night in the hammock? I'm jealous
I've never had my UQP get so wet that it was a problem. If I bring it, I always pack it up separate from my hammock whether wet or not. I treat it similar to a tarp. If it's wet, I'll pack it up with...
The fleece did a good job of keeping the CF from making too much noise. The underside agains the hammock can make some noise but I don't remember it ever bothering me. I just didn't find it...
I've had a small-ish tarp for many years. The WL Tadpole. It worked well for me because I was mostly concerned with weight for my longer backpacking trips, but SilvrSurfr is right that it is more...
Sounds like you're in the right place! Welcome!
Curious about this too. Been looking at these and other options. Interested to see what others have experienced or recommend.
Got one of these a few years back but stopped using it after not too long. Simple and light, just didn't do it for me.
Nice and simple! I have been using red/head and blue/shoe for years now lol. I do it to make setting up faster. I don't have to pull my hammock all the way out of the bishop bag. I just grab the blue...
Welcome welcome! Sounds like you're already feeling the hammock addiction! Enjoy!
Looks mighty comfy - I love their quilts. Enjoy!
I have a small pillow from HG. It's too small and doesn't provide enough support for me personally. These days I've been using whatever down or fleece jacket I have with me as a pillow. Works for...
Aspen has beautiful hiking - sounds like a great trip in the works. Was just out that way this last September.
I started out with a hennessey and I felt claustraphobic in there pretty often. If...
Looks ruttin' great! Surprised how many Firefly fans there are here
Great decision! It was a tough and somewhat expensive decision when I bought my first hammock. Took a while to finally pull the trigger too but once I did, I couldn't believe I wasted all that time...
Like the color choice. Looks like a great piece of gear.
Aren't there a variety of sizes for double-ended stuff sacks? Do you have a specific one in mind? Also, is it a down quilt, econ down, or synthetic? And I think temp rating would matter. I have a...
Congrats! Sounds like a good night out. When I first started hanging, I could never fall asleep quickly. I'd lay awake in the hammock for what felt like hours. Very comfortable but wide awake......
I have an Econ Burrow 40 degree and I have been very impressed with it. Very comfortable and the draft collar and ability to cinch the top really help in the hammock when it gets chilly. It is narrow...
