Very kind, Tato. I'm in ...
There was a big, big fire at Bastrop a couple of years ago and the state park was hit pretty hard. Sounds like they're making a lot of progress there, though. But they lost a lot of trees.
Other...
A big welcome from beautiful Carrollton. As you've discovered, this is a great place -- lots of knowledge, very helpful ... Of course, with knowledge you'll discover all sorts of cool things you've...
Welcome from Texas! And don't be shy about asking questions. Lots of knowledge here, and lots of people willing to help.
Welcome from DFW. Love the Hill Country ...
Welcome from Carrollton. This is a great place -- very friendly with lots of folks eager to help with the inevitable questions. Glad you're here!
Welcome from TX .... Hope all is well in Surf City!
And welcome from Carrollton.
That meat deal sounds tough. But hey, bow season opens Saturday,
Howdy from Texas (but born and raised in beautiful Cape May County). Great place. You'll learn lots!
That's some beautiful country you have, Hector56. But until I visited the first time, I didn't realize how far north you really are -- until the sun went down at about 3 in the afternoon in late...
"Greenland" was an early effort of Viking public relations, because, well, it was anything but green. Stark and beautiful, people say, but isn't most of it covered by glaciers? Glaciers and trees...
Man, that definitely isn't for me ... I flip around too much at night to risk that kind of a fall.
You're right, Omgak. The donors-only sections of the site are more than worth the price of admission ... Some great stuff there.
Ditto on the review. I've been looking at Tim's quilts and they look great. Of course, with temperatures still in the mid- to upper-90s in Texas, the cool weather still looks to be off in the...
Welcome from beautiful DFW!
Davigilante -- hey, it suits you!
Love the Steinbeck tagline, btw, though I've never been to Montana. Have spent some time in Idaho, though ...
Hey Brandon, you clearly put a lot of thought into all of this, and you've come up with some very cool designs! Time to start socking away my spare change ...
Just got the e-mail that my Toxoway tarp and rigging are on their way. Can't wait ...
I'm one of the many who ordered one of Paul's tarps, and I know I'm toward the back of the queue. Paul emailed to say it might take a couple of weeks to make it. No problem. If that wouldn't have...
GoLite lists their TQs with a "suggested retail" price and a "sale price." When the quilts were listed as out of stock, the suggested retail was $300 and the sale price was $150 (rounded off). Now...
I'm marking this one down on the calendar -- and putting in for a couple of days off. Looking forward to this -- it'll be my first group gathering. Should be cool!
Sarge, did you find these in the camping section of the Academy? It's best for me if I can go straight to the right part of the story. If I'm wandering up and down the aisles, well, I just get myself...
GoLite has their 3-season quilts in stock for $199.99. Gets high marks for folks who have them, though there was some disappointment here when the new stock arrived $50 more expensive than GoLite's...
Thanks for the video, SS. Took me back in time. The first house I owned was at the southern edge of the Pine Barrens, in Dennis Township. The state had just imposed a 3-acre minumum lot size there,...
I have a 20-degree down bag I bought from REI some years back, a semi-mummy shape that follows the GoLite outline pretty closely. Not sure how wide it is, though. Have to check. I've been using that...
Thanks, spaceweaseal. I'm leaning that way ... Now to decide which one. Fortunately, since it's roughly 109 degrees out today, I have some time before I'll need a 20-degree quilt.
The price increase puts the GoLite quilts close to the prices from the cottage makers. How do the GoLite's compare to 20-degree 3-season quilts from JRB, Undergroundquilts, Warbonnet, HammockGear...
Many knowledgeable folks here -- wish I was one of 'em -- willing to help.
And welcome from TX.
Well, the hammock itself is "heavy-duty canvas," and all those lines of suspension are paracord. The upper part has a "heavy polyurethane coating." The bug net is made of cotton. The zipper is "heavy...
Howdy from DFW, Texas
Welcome from TX ...
Brandon told me the new bridge should accommodate folks up to 6'6" tall. Don't know about width, but I'm sure we'll hear something soon.
Recently got the Butts in a Sling suspension kit -- whoopies and toggles. Their toggles are cut from aluminum arrow shafts. So I think you're good to go.
Best,
Mike
Welcome from Texas -- sure wish we'd get some of that Portland weather! Man, it's hot.
Good luck with your projects. Lots of knowledge here to help you along.
Oh, and welcome from Texas!
Howdy from deep-in-the-heart of Texas ...
After they went out of stock the last time, I spoke with a customer service rep at GoLite who said they expect to get a shipment on or about Aug. 6, and will have them available on the site a day or...
Hi Lost and welcome from TX.
I too have the ENO DN and just replaced the stock suspension parts with a Butt in a Sling suspension kit (and a couple of small continuous loops to replace the stock...
I like the idea of an all-encompassing bug net rather than one that's sewn onto the hammock, since its bug season about 11 months a year in TX. And I'd need a "long" at 6-2. Weight is a consideration...
Gathered for me. But I admit I'm intrigued by the various bridge hammock designs. I'm inclined to be a stomach- or side-sleeper, though back sleeping works out ok in my DN.
Caveman. I like it!
Welcome from Texas.
My grandparents came from the other side of the Baltic, on the east coast of Sweden. Never been there, sorry to say.
Lots of great information here, and lots of people eager...
Welcome from Texas, Lucas. Seems like a lot of folks here find relief from back pain when they move from a tent to a hammock, so I think you're on the right track.
best,
Mike
Agree with all of the above. Just got their suspension kit and an adjustable ridge line and a couple of continuous loops. Incredibly light. Very cool.
Good guys, good stuff and man, those prices...
And another welcome from the Jersey Shore, southern tip, though now I spend most my time in Texas. With 103 degrees this afternoon, I'd rather be on the beach in Wildwood Crest ...
Great place....
The only thing I know about polyester vs nylon when it comes to stretching is from the ENO Slap Straps. They're nylon, and they stretch quite a bit. Polyester tree savers don't stretch, so from that,...
I've considered a Kelty 9 but then wondered whether it would be big enough. But the 12 looks really big, and really versatile. Great luck with it.
Welcome from Texas (from a Garden State native).
Welcome from Texas. And that's a handsome pup in your avatar. Border terrier?
best,
Mike
Well, I'm 60 now, but I think I'm 35. And I have an 11 year old, so I have to think young. There's nothing like hiking and camping and then kicking back in comfort to help us shed a few years. ;)
