I have a couple of those in my house, my only advice is do not disturb before noon, otherwise a demon spawn will come forth and take your soul.
I do the same thing gargoyle mentioned, I just run the whoopies back into each other and connect with a biner.

ummmm....what? 0.5 cent savings? lol
you can add a ridgeline to any hammock. I added one to my cheapo hammock works great. I just picked up a ridgeline at dutch ware, they are cheap and will make the hang better.
I toss this up on my dutch ware hammock shelf
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003SXLW7Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It also has a hook on the handle and I've hung it on the...
PM sent, I'll take it please
That's a nice gear hammock MacEntyre. Can it be hung alongside my hammock on a TD stand? In Florida, we are not able to hang anything on trees, so it's gotta be hung on my TD stand. Thanks
No Problem man. I wish the 14 foot setup worked better bc as you said I could then run a bigger tarp, but it got scary when the poles warped out, the stand failed on me a few times bc the poles...
I have whoopie slings on my hammock and they are connected to each other (making another ridgeline basically) I can lengthen them, but they are currently set for a 30 degree lay. The only other way...

Finally got to use my hammock on a boy scout trip. Here she is set up at camp. I'm just using a cheap tarp from Amazon (think I paid $30), but it worked great, we had some rain during the...
Thank you everyone for your responses, I really like these 2 and the price is low enough. Now just to decide which I like better!
I know I've seen threads in here somewhere regarding storing gear, I think I saw some in terms of another "hammock" underneath to hold gear. Anyways, can anyone share some links or ideas for storing...
I second the DIY stands, I prefer the turtle dog stand, fairly cheap to make and easy and lightweight to carry.
Just my thought, but the rules should be posted as a site topic so it can be easily found. I've been searching for the rules and for something that important it shouldn't be this difficult to find....
If you decide to go this route, Dutchware gear has great net less hammocks around $42! You can get it in any fabric, weight you want.
Looks like you have to "banana" sleep to use it, I've seen something identical to that on Amazon, no thanks.
Depends what all he ordered, if it's just the chameleon, he'll need a suspension. All I use is whoopee slings and either my TD stand or the permanent stand and he'll need some climbing rated...
:woot:
That's awesome!
Unfortunately, there are no hammock trees in my yard, so either build a stand or find another way to chill...in other words, don't bother with hammocks at all
Thank you very much guys, that's reassuring.
and yeah...zukiguy, there won't be any of that type of horse play on the hammocks. It's just chill and relax time out there
That's a nice piece of wood Evan, kind of wish I went to the lumber yard and got some nice pieces like that, of course that would probably have driven the price up significantly, but it looks real...
Thanks Blue Jay, it's a pretty simple project, hopefully in a few months when the wood is dry enough and I can stain it, it'll also look nice.
kitsapcowboy--thanks for the elaboration, I was shocked to hear, in my other post, that some 4x4's had failed...I then edited my previous post about the over kill. I thought they were much stronger...
That does make sense, I'll have to think about this, not sure how I can do that at this point. I may drop another cross beam down near wear the eye screws are.
So I built a 4 post hammock stand with support beams across the top and someone responded that they've heard of members having 4x4's break on them....so now I'm worried! Has anyone had this happen...
I ran 2x6 beams at the top of the posts to prevent leaning and add support.
Wow, that's scary, I didn't think that would be possible with 4x4's figured they'd have a pretty high breaking level.
Thanks, I'll look for that.
Thanks! all the wood is pressure treated. The main posts are 10 foot 4x4's buried 2 feet down. And the beams are 10 foot 2x6" connected with metal rafter connections. Once I add the 12' or 14'...
I just built a 10'x10' square with 4x4's, they're buried 2 feet down and I attached eye screws to the posts. I still have some finishing work to do, I'll post the link to my soon to be pergola.
...
Great job, I like that! I wonder how that would hold up on a full size td with a 200+lb person in a hammock.
Appearantly, pressure treated wood can take weeks to months to dry out and be able to be stained or painted... :glare:
Guess I'll finish the build out then in a few months hopefully it'll take a...
built this yesterday, it's still raw and will be finished with a nice board across the front and back, with a more pergola cut to them and then paint the whole thing.
The first pic is what I...
This is very sad indeed. I'll stick with my Tdawg stand, I doubt it could kill me if it fell. Such a shame when a young person loses their life.
thanks for pointing that out, I'll have to ask
Just an update, ran to the hardware store last night on my way home from work and picked up all the hardware to convert from turtle lady to...
Yup, I'll clamp the elastic before I cut it then knot them off.
That's the tarp I'm going to get with the pole mod but without the poles and try to use some tent poles, might be able to cut some cost that way.
Thanks gmtccr, I was trying to get the ridge pole as high as possible and was having problems with it bumping the back tripod pole so it wouldn't go higher. I was also thinking of notching the...
Thanks for the reply Devoncloud, I currently hang it with a rope, but I like your set up much better and was planning to go with something like that. What are those nuts you're using called? I...
I cut them to the standard 6ft, I actually meant to cut them to 7' not sure what happened there, brain fart I guess. I figured that would be one way to fix the issue, but didn't want to have to buy...
What a beautiful view!
Hey Guys I need some help. I built my Tdog a few weeks ago, and it's been working great with my el cheapo hammock, I think it's under 10', however, I just received my chameleon and I'm having the...
Thanks guys, that's what I was thinking, it should be easy to remove a section or 2 to get them to the length I need, most poles are connected with an elastic string.
I'm too new to this to offer any criticism, still learning! One day soon I'm hoping to give the DIY hammock a try.
Very nice ink, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the info! I'll be looking at that for my tarp.
That's great to hear Dutch, I'm glad I picked your company as my first real hammock! any plans on making more of those netless hammocks?
Love the red! nice work!
