Yes Sir...as far as I know both Havens require a side to side air mattress not one that runs the length of the hammock. I think you would feel like a hot dog in a bun using one of those.

Just a thought and I haven't tried it in my Haven XL yet but have used a doubled up wool blanket in my ridge runner and it worked well instead of a UQ. Not a light solution but warm.
#1 Son used to build those for a lot of money (inflated US) but yours is simple and full of class! I like it!
Just set up my RR with a 20" pad on a 12' hammock stand that I may take on a side by side trip from Montrose, CO to Moab, UT and return on the Rimrock Trail. I have never used it with the stand and...
If we had 1/10 the human population there would still be hungry bears and coon and rats and other critters looking for an easy meal left out by humans that draw them in. You can't fix stupid.
You folks talked me into one of them swinging chairs. I use a Cabela's super comfy insulated chair with drink holders on each arm in front of the fire (when we're allowed to have one) but unless it's...
I have a 30" wide Exped 7.5 pad that I wonder if it's too big for my RR at least regarding the "tippy" thing. I have a 24" pad in there now and it's OK but the pad does tend to move around a bit. The...
Barney the dino or flowers at a wedding reception or funeral...maybe a skate board...nothing wrong with any of those...my wife would love it.
Reflectix...hummm...great stuff but a tad noisy and krinkely. I made essentially the same sandwich as Gilligan made above using 48" wide material cut to roughly fit my shoulders tapered to my feet...
How about 12' for the inside top rail and 2' thru the each of the "L" brackets and attach tarp on the ends of the 2' pieces. Looking to start with 7' legs and cut as needed/wanted following some...
Lost my 9th Lab at age 13 awhile back and have a new 7 month old full size female poodle and my plan is to train her to use a foam pad in the boat, canoe, raft, truck, car and camping. Shelter will...
Merhaba Efendim....!!Nasilsiniz?
I lived in Izmir back in the mid 70's and loved it there. I miss the food and people. Regarding the hogs...I killed a 270 kilo hog while there but most were 175...
I'll take it. PM coming.
OK...I'm confused why it makes sense to make a climashield quilt with 1.1 oz and not with a poncho liner. If climashield gets thesame loft with each quilt why doesn't it make sense to use a PL? I...
Well, I just bought 3 yds of 5.0 oz/sq yd Climashield APEX to put inside the PL. Pulled out the old Sears sewing machine and it is not working for some reason. I scrapped the truck bed net suspension...
Gary,
Thanks for the info...pix would be great!!
Did you do IX because of cost? I liked climashield because it could bedone in one layer but it seems kinda expensive at $16 a yard but I suppose...
Any other sources for Climashield?
I'm thinking Climashield...the thick stuff to get a couple inches of loft so I'm planning to do 4" smaller on the inside and am thinking of trying truck bed netting to suspend the PLUQ instead of...
I have motorcycle camped across the country and have found if I ask land owners, they are more than accomodating....biggest problem I have is turning down dinner right after I ate in town. Also...
I tried the pad and the fleece cover last night at about 68*. Went to the hammock at midnight and by 0200 I woke up sweating with no top cover wearing a tee shirt and shorts. Pulled the pad out and...
That sure looks like a nice fit and a warm sleep. Do you find that the face hole for lack of a better term...will move with you if you go from laying on your back to your side? The "pucker" strings...
Thanks Lone!!
I have not played with this set-up at all...just came to me this morning and out came the knife. I looked at the sag and came to the same conclusion...needs a support system to keep...
It's 84 degrees so the test hang was very short. I just took a 0*Alps bag and cut a hole in the foot end and taped it up since I don't sew. Kinda crude but it sure is hot in there. Only problem I had...
Stay with me a moment....for 50 down to 30 degrees I'm planning a CCF pad in the double bottom of my new WBBB and to combat the condensation problem I am planning to glue several layer of fleece to...
Brian,
Thanks!!
The first time I watched your set-up video I thought you used a head high attachment and watching it again, you clearly were at least 2' above that. I'll be trying it again in...
I did watch the video but I'll watch it again. Thanks!!!
I got my new WBBB and it seems that no matter how tight or loose I hang it, the ridge line is always very tight when I sit/lay in the hammock. I have it hung about 16' apart and the ridge line is...
I'm thinking about something like this but I was going to use velcro....have I missed some advantage of using magnets? Maybe they repel lightning or EMP...sorry, just not sure why magnets.
WHere is the challenge in that? You're right of course, but I like to come up with solutions out of mid air.
Ordered mine late on Father's Day and got it today...too darn hot to set it up though.
NOT going to use that stuff to hang from!!!
Thanks for the great info!!
I found this line and it is certainly light and plenty strong and I'm wondering if it has be used successfully as suspension line?
This 3/32" (2.5mm) braided polyester and dyneema® is perfect for...
Since I do mostly canoe or 4 wheeler camping the bulk and weight is less important to me in these uses. I'm actually not trying to replace a UQ, rather come up with insulation that will work down to...
I stumbled upon a deal a Wally Mart...60" wide fleece at $0.98 a yard...I bought 10 yards with the hope of making my Reflectix quieter and warmer at the same time. The plan is to use headliner spray...
I just order a Black Bird and plan to try out doubled reflectix glued together and two layers of some soft insulator glued between the reflectix and my butt/back/legs/feet...maybe Primaloft. I tried...
I'm thinking rather than using two trees to hang the Flex, why couldn't you make a spreader bar out of PVC pipe or aluminum pipe and use that to spread the hammock and make a yoke that only requires...
5'10", 200, 46 coat, but....I'd like more room than the 150 provides. I do sleep comfortably in the 150 but I can't sleep on my side at all which is not mandatory but would be nice. Recent shoulder...
I know these are new on the market and no one has much experience with the Flex 180 but how does single sleeping feel on the diagonal? Is it better to just use on rope on the foot end for one person?...
Well, I'm learning....2 layers of reflectix glued together and cut to fit the bottom of the NX 150 with a poncho liner on top of that all slipped into a fleece sleeping bag liner. I slept on it and...
Thanks guys!!
No sweat John!
I do have the materials so I'm going to execute and see what happens. I'm going to glue things together so it should end up with a 1/2" to 5/8" pad contraption that...
Neither volume nor weight are a factor since I hunt/camp almost exclusively via 4 wheeler or truck....I'm looking for comfort and warmth. I understand this is an unholy idea  but I may also use...
I'm not sure about this but it seems like it would work just fine inside....bottom layer is wool blanket with two layers of reflectix, a layer of wool blanket and all wrapped in fleece to make it...
Not sure if this will help, but I remember when my kids were in 4H, there were folks that felted alpaca fleece and I had a pair of boot liners made from it and they were VERY warm in the bottom of...
I'll take it. Please PM regarding payment and shipment.
Thanks,
Joe
BTW, St George is a GREAT area!!
I'm the sewing person...she manages a button once in awhile and that's about it. She gets pissed because I tend to take over the dinning room table for months on end...that's what happened last year...
This is scary...I was just thinking about something like that while I was laying in my new Safari with a really cold butt. I was thinking the thinsulate would need to be attached to the hammock...
The Safari Deluxe arrived this PM...just came in from playing with it...30 degrees and dark so I didn't learn much except the hole in the bottom that you crawl into works great....ya git in...it...
Hey SHug!!
I gotta tell ya that brings back old memories of cross country skiing in AK, but we had couple shelters made from the steel dome tops of grain silos and a wood stove inside. Best part...
Pan,
Thanks for the info!! Once I get the Safari I'll see if I can figure out how to stay in the thing and then make some decisions on extras. You guys make nice stuff.
I have a Harley and a...
Red Hat,
