Various degrees of SG hammocks. I was using 30º hammock and 30º Comforter. Jonah had 0º hammock 30º Comforter...all new buy for him so he was excited to try it all.
I loaned Alex 15º hammock and...
That is mighty nice of you...thankee. I ordered one so I'll be good soon. Gotta see what the hype is about.
I concur. Those bottom entry bug nets make "breakfast from the hammock" a pain. But I do have an urge to try one of these Majestics due to the comfort hype.

It'll get you going.
Bought a few myself in the past....https://youtu.be/b_56W3jdxbY
Enjoy the hammock quest.

Whoooooo Buddy))))
Was I gone?

I have a video on that subject that may give you some insight.
And really a double layer is not required for a pad. You can just lay it in the hammock and lay on it.
Enjoy the hammock quest....
I did a video on that subject a while back. Perhaps there will some insight in it for you.
Try a solo! Then you will for sure know if it is for you...or not.

Totally enjoyed your trip briefing. Makes me look forward to a paddle trip come Summer. I like portages almost better than paddling. Shade! And it is a mini backpacking trip. No shade on a lake!!...
It is always a joy once I get out of the Jeep and get ready to go. This trip was fairly mild by our usual Winter standards. You should try it sometime if your gear is up to it. Thankee.
We're boiling in the rain....just boiling in the rain......

My SG Tarp has a 12' ridgeline. Not sure what I said on the video.
I have come to really like my Superior Gear tarp. Great coverage.

TQs weigh a bit less than sleeping bags. No zippers and less fabric. But you can use a sleeping bag in a hammock in TQ mode for ease or try to zip it up which can be a struggle.

I very much enjoyed your briefing. Always enjoyed my several trips to Japan. Hope your legs are on the up and up.

The most difficult was just not being able to do the old day to day talking with Meg. That was the most difficult.
This Winter has made me miss the Winter I usually want to hurry up and end. I still feel Winter will hit us once we all think Spring is upon us!
Been a very odd Winter for sure. I thought for sure there would be a little more snow on the ground back in the woods. Was a spectacular trip all the same.
We had a very good view from that camp...
My vote is the HG Burrow. I have one and it is solid.

Lots of thick ice but not a lot of deep snow. We had some sub 0ºF temperatures and some wind and some sun and some gloom. Wonderful food and I really needed this trip and enjoyed my time with Alex...

Good first one is down Conley Cove...south on Linville River Trail. Especially if your friend is inexperienced. Or just double back and back up Conley. Also Shortoff Mountain up from Wolfpit...
One solution is to add a Knotty Mod to tighten the loose edges.
See a knotty mod at 8:05 in the video below.
Here are instructions from Knotty...
In a few cases on the trail I have tied my toggle further down the tree strap from the tree and hung the foot end of the hammock right off the continuous loop. This is usually due to tight tree...
Take advantage of any sunshine and breeze to air your quilt . On moist nights and foggy nights the quilt can feel damp on top. It is usually just the fabric. So get it in the sun if you can.

I did study mime back in 1978 in college. But went on into circus clowning. But time training was intense and helpful. But my friends made quite a bit of sport of me....haaaa
It is worthy of laughter!!!
I'm glad you got something out of them. I've learned so much here on HF over the years. It all leads to good slumber~~
Bringing cursive writing into my life again....
Maybe slip a CCF foam pad on or under the pad. Slip a parka over the footbox of your TQ or sleeping bag. That should help some. Try to keep the wind off of the foot end if you can.
Those should...
Haven sets up real good on the ground with the provided tarp too. But I'v always brought my DIY BlackCrow tarp 11' long 7' wide.

I think you will be good to go. Just made sure you're pretty warm when you crawl in for the night. A short walk around, running in place or some jumping jacks gets the blood flowing. Pout a jacket or...
I have a time or two for a video with the mandolin. I would never bring either mandolin camping. I just want to hear the music of the woods.

Well...does it? Actually lots to consider and mess about with especially as time passes by in your hammock quest.
We do kind of wear our hammocks. Or do they wear us.

Mine is a red squirrel rug. You need one for each foot.
I really like going back to 10' hammocks on the Superior Gear but use 11' hammocks on all other brands. Started with a 10'...went to 11'...now kinda back to 10' at times. We wear our hammocks. Like...
If you go into this video at the :50 second mark I hook up and go over a JRB UQ and show how to skew it to cover feet better. May give some insight.
