I have the badge on my sleeve and struct a hammock on outing (if not banned by park ranger), that is always a good talking topic. Many people only know hammock as swing in summer afternoon, the full...

can get smaller if you have compression bag
Still own my ENO DN that accompanied me through many camps, it is now my perfect recurring loaner for potential buddy, with upgraded woopie sling, I just let them sleep on it with their own sleeping...

Received my green pool, same SKU and rope as posted last week, the tracer isn't stand out contrast too much, I would buy again if that's reason for discount.
happy happy
I would just stitch up close the hole, make it a 7 or mirrored F.
Just thought I may receive the exciting shipment anytime, got a phone call instead -- red is out of stock :-(
if it took one week to process shipment(thus find out inventory status), then there is...
Too late to know, just ordered one each; so the color would be the grey mainly with tracer of red/green ?
I better start to find buddy to share the deal.
short tree strap with long woopie sling on the hammock. have some amsteel or light webbing as backup
* avoid sink the woopie loop by tie a stopper, I once have trouble to poke it out to the point...
I haven't experienced terrible bites and the difference to me is largely peace of mind, I feel more protected by a ENO Gardian bug net all around :-)
of course, the string up takes more steps, but...
I found hammocking in the rain (hang correctly of course) is one of the advantage that tenting less enjoy of. able to feel the rain drop but not worry get wet.
you pick a good gear to start with, summer time is perfect season to try out, start with pad, and prepare to get under quilt once you addict to it.
Welcome.
Try a thinner rope (less stretch) form a ridge line for your tarp and use trucker's hitch to tighten it. that would raise up the tarp ridge where it curved and pooling water.
I use RL under tarp,...
Hammock suspension with tree straps and high strength amsteel woopie gives me peace of mind.
Separated ridge line for no load tarp setup you may use whatever cordage available. it also hang MISC...
Wouldn't the anchor point pull outs from the top, reduce the bending stress on the pole especially at the sections connect?
Nice built, I would use shorter bolt at the base, those 4 stick out give me uneasy feel.
You trim the pad?
As owner of 5+ tents and hammocks, I think one of the differences is that I enjoy more when I changed(upgrade?) hammock vs. tents.
start with complete set of ENO then bugnet, tarp, woopie, UQ... ...
Or insert wood cylinder to where the bolts inserted, that way they are through a solid object, not halo tubes.
The stud fitting has load rating of 5000+, but not specified in L-track, did they provide that spec. somewhere?
If you came from tent camping and have ground cloth of a large tent, that can be use right away.
I think you're look at OneLink system, it's a quick entry system (have one myself), if the pad get you no CBS (cold butt symptom), spend some time study what's good for you, the underquilt is one of...
much simpler and portable than those "lounger"
You could always put 2nd round, 3rd round on the tree if extra.
In west coast the trees tend to be large, I usually bring two sets of ENO Atlas straps
+1
I recommend Noah 12 to adults and Scouts, it is a good tarp not just for hammock ( we bring them to Philmont) and low cost sub $50, can be pitched as 4 season close door.
for those have large...
Ha, now that you point out I noticed it was 2013.
My question is : the breaking point is the weakest link of the whole system, if the biner marked MAX 250lb (where it was tested 2500 WLL) can...
because it has suspension?
compare the new one with previous version 23kN (4,946 lb) vs max.250 lb, wondering if both measured in same testing standard?
that's huge difference!
+1
I add a plastic sheet or trash bag between tree and pack in case of sticky tree sap.
hang under ridge line usually too heavy, so use a carabiner click on to one of the tree trunk works well.
Be sure to shield the bottom well, as it is much more sensitive to heat loss.
I start with DIY blanket, old sleeping bag, form pad, finally invest underquilt; occasionally hang a second hammock...
If this is Scouting outing the poles already in the package, excellent option to demo the skill (our tripod standard for first class requirement is sustain your own weight without collapsion), aided...
I would use multiple hammocks, even though we keep our hammock well, the gear you use outdoor potentially carry stuff you may not like to introduce to your bedroom ---of course it is less concern...
Kelty noah 12x12 has good coverage, can get under $50 on sale
Have you try hang the diag. mid-points between center & corner tie-out ?
That would give you longer coverage also have one door.
If nothing shield me above, the worry of bird drop or pine cone will circle in my mind. I started with rain fly / foot print of large tent, anything string up over ridge line would do. using Kelty...
You better shrink both ends to improve the efficiency of keeping the warm. Windy weather
If vehicles doesn't have roof top rail, need additional padding to shield the abrasion.
If only continuous loop on the hammock and don't want to use hardware, try the sheet bend knot with the working end of strap, back with a half hitch for insurance
What he has on the hammock ? just continuous loop no biner no woopie ?
The Atlas strap's loop is for the easy clip on attachment, not appropriate for MSH or knotting.
With new Scout rank requirement 4a, you can have them really practice all the knots used in the hammock making. Very cool.
Tried tent last month after hanging over year---terrible! I would choose hammock over tent unless it isn't an option.
tent is essential for Scouting, but hammock enhance the joy of camping...
trucker's hitch is better than tautline for heavy load/high tension.
Learn to bunking with other member is learning experience, (read, snoring !), but primary reason is buddy system, last Summer camp, the Scout came wake me up because his buddy has nose bleeding, a...
If you want to grab out of store shelf

How is it ended ? convert trap to be table cloth hammock ?
TQ & UQ you haven't mention, not sure anybody ever put futon mattress into hammock, it's super bulky and not able to get a good lay ( the hammock wrap your body suspend in the air yet under...
Have close 100 nights under belt, but some how fear stuff land on my face other than rain, been found bird drop on tarp and witness pine cone, sticks direct hit on top, I convince myself the amsteel...
snap a picture, add an arrow ? we got very good imagination to see if that resemble same dumb mistake we made, so we can proudly give you some pointer to show we get smarter now :-)
What your intended usage is the key. supposed this would be overnight at Summer above 50F, you probably don't need under quilt, tree strap and tarp are essential, and consider bug net if skeeter...
