Did you get a walking foot sewing machine, or just the walking foot attachment? Trying to decide if the attachment is worth it. Not that they cost that much.
I'll take it.
Great. Thanks.
Thanks. What would be your guess on the fabric weight? Something like a generic 1.9 ripstop?
If so, what was your experience with them?
Some of them have had them. not sure about recently, but I was going through threads about CDTs and PLUQs the other day, and a bunch of folks from the Great White North were saying their Costco got...
Different aesthetic. Also, I'd have to make it big enough that the bury from the CL didn't overlap with those of the tails.
Thanks for doing that. I appreciate it. Looks doable.
Makes sense. Thanks.
If one starts to take more load, the perpendicular ones will become skewed and start taking some force.
I still can't quite picture how I'd brummel lock the two Ls.
I can't quite picture it. I was thinking with the non-eye end buried in the non-eye end, but I'd end up with basically a small loop at the center, instead of a clean X.
Can't picture how I'd get four dogbones larksheaded, or maybe I'm misunderstanding.
But now I'm thinking i just make four dogbones, with the loop made passing through the two adjacent dogbones. ...
I've been running through my head if it's possible to make an X-shaped dogbone that can actually not pull apart. I have an idea about a tarp system for my annual camping trip with some friends, but...
I know this is an old thread, but . . . how the hell did you get your suspension that far UP on the trees? Unless something is out of scale, they look like they'd be well over 10' up.
I've used plenty of ratchet straps. The stuff is usually very low stretch, and a little stiff, but not so stiff you couldn't do a becket hitch or a marlin spike hitch. And it usually softens up a...
The ratchet strap stuff is usually fairly low-stretch.
You just need them plus 97 more family members to justify the 2400'.
I found this on eBay. I'm not in anyway affiliated with the seller, etc. But 2400' of 1-1/4" polyester webbing for $100 seems like a great deal. But if I brought 2400' more feet of webbing into...
NYC here. Brooklyn, specifically. I have a backyard though, so can hang under my rear (steel) deck. That said, I've hung in some of the smaller parks. The bigger ones have too many park police,...
I'll take it.
That will be plenty for doing a hammock, quilts, etc. Might have a slightly tough time with the webbing for backpacks, but probably still doable if you go slow.
I use Google Chrome.
What do you use to download? The website I used to use appears to be gone.
Look up reflective grosgrain on eBay and Amazon.
Do the cops give you any trouble for parking overnight at Harriman? Years ago we camped there, and got a ticket as overnight camping was supposed to be only for through-hikers. Our argument was...
Dress for the hang, not the rain . . .
Add a ripstop nylon layer under it to stop the wind from cooling it off and it will be much warmer.
I have 20 yards of the 1.55 Epsilon, and 10 yards of the 1.1 Intruder silnylon waiting for my skills to get good enough to make my dream hammock, tarp, maybe underquilt, and a few accessories. My...
I used to live in a place that had a metal slot in the bathroom wall labeled for razor blade disposal, with no obvious way to remove it for emptying. When I went to renovate the bathroom I found...
How do you cut away the cover fabric without also cutting the mesh you already stitched on?
Can I borrow it to make a shitload of bias tape . . . ? More than half the fabric is from you guys anyway.
Let me know if you have anything to add.
I'm thinking of breaking it up further by material type, and number of layers. Say someone wants to sew 4 layers of 1.9 PU-coated ripstop, etc. ...
I'll assume Schmetz as a baseline.
Just getting started in this stuff, so trying to compile my research. No sense reinventing the wheel.
So I tried to create a spreadsheet based on what I found here, on reddit.com/r/myog, and on the Gutermann website.
Let me know what you guys think, what I need to correct, what I could add, etc.
Sounds like someone hasn't made enough underquilts . . . .
As others have said, warm underquilt, lighter top quilt. I've had cases where my underquilt was so warm I didn't even need an overquilt at about 40 degrees in a WBBB.
Clever. Just learning to sew, and this seems like an easy beginner project.
Specifically Gutermann Mara 100 (AKA Sew-All), or Mara 70 if you can find it. You ca order the Mara 70 from many of the DIY vendors on here (Dutchware, Ripstop By The Roll, DIY Gear Supply, etc)
I'm looking to make an enlarged version to match this: https://www.ebags.com/product/timbuk2/hidden-messenger-bag/145518?productid=10027821
I'd prefer coated, but can settle for uncoated.
I'd agree with a Taslan type material. This guy usually has some at decent prices: ...
Love that color. What material, and where did you get it, if you remember?
Summer only started 2.5 weeks ago on June 21. You've got time.
Ok. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll pass on it.
Insulated duffle bag for transporting cold beer?
Has anyone tried run T-90 bonded thread in their Singer 201? Specifically VT-92 bonded, polyester thread, recommended needle of #18 or #20. I have an offer on some pretty cheap, but not sure if I...
So they won't work on Freedom Cordage . . .
If #1 is still available, I'll take it.
Question for you on the Multicam. How often does the pattern repeat? Is it very obvious when viewed from a distance? I know a lot of the camo patterns repeat at about 36"-48" so they almost look...
Awesome. Thanks. Let me review the trail info, etc and get back to you with some questions.
