6-8 hours is probably about right but I did end up taking out the three rows of stitching on the flat feld seam seeing it didn't look very good. That took up a lot of time. If you have your...

I used a ridge line. I know the feeling about the kids. All weekend long I was yelling at mine to stay away from the tarp seeing they already put a hole in my other hammock.
Finished up my pre-cut HEX12 tarp kit from Ripstop by the roll just in time for a family camping trip. It was the first time using most of my DIY gear and it all worked great. Being a pre-cut kits...
I think this is my first DIY project that the lines were actually straight. All the more reason I love this fabric.
Just finished up my first hammock build. I purchased the netless hammock kit from makeyourgear.com. They don't have directions on their site yet but they were very quick to reply to my messages on...
Next time I'm on that side of town I'll have to pick up another one. Just can't let the wife know lol. She already things I've been spending too much money on DIY projects.
I like the idea of using the snake skins. I might have to try that so I don't have to take it down every time the wind picks up.
Shug your videos are always very helpful and entertaining....
I might go pick up another one to try stacking them. I was kind of wondering about how well that would work.
Thanks for all the replies. I've seen the trick using small logs over the stakes but didn't even think of it. I guess it's better to over do it here seeing you never know when the wind is going to...
lol I bet they'd love that. The stakes I was using were MSR ground hog stakes. The ground's just really wet here right now so one pulled out. I know the tarps on the small side but it was cheap and I...
The tarp is just a cheap one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EHJSJPM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's getting me by until I have a chance to make one. After...
Finally finished up my first UQ. Of course I can't find the site I followed to make it now, but most of you probably know what one it is.

I cut everything using the soldering iron. It...
Just wanted to show off my Costco TQ. Used it outside last night and it worked great. It got down to about 50 and I was toasty all night maybe a little too warm. I followed

Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has some tips for dealing with their hammock or tarp in wind? I'm unfortunate enough to live in the #2 windiest city in the U.S. When I'm playing around with...
I was just about to post the same question. Today a gust of wind ripped my stake out of the ground and sent it right through the side of the tarp. Any recommendations between Permatex or tenacious...
Thanks for posting this! I just picked up a couple quilts today and was trying to decide how I wanted to make the TQ
Just pick up two hear in Rochester MN today. Already working on a TQ and UQ
Nice. yep a little clean up and oil and that should work nicely.
I'm always up for fishing. Whitewater is nice I go hiking and fishing there once in awhile with the family but I don't think they have any backpack in sites. Still looking to go there sometime soon...
Good tip. Just can't ever trust the weather forecast. I learned that back in my tent days leaving the rainfly off and waking up to a storm lol.
Not on the top but the sleepingbag area and the front has a J zipper for easy access.
I still use stuff sacks but I think it's more out of habit than anything. I tried loading my pack without them the other day and it did seem a lot more stable and even. The only fear I have is...
That turned out awesome. Looks like you bought it that way
Hey everyone. I know there was a post not too long ago similar to this one, but ,I was wondering if people had any good suggestions for places to backpack and hang in SE Minnesota. I live in...
I knew I should have taken the kids up to the fair this year. I'd love to catch your show someday.
looks like that set up works pretty good if you needed to go to ground. Those are things I'v been thinking about lately, looking at places online to go but never having been there to see if there's...
I also use this if I'm using a pillow. I like to mash up my pillow as I sleep so air filled pillows don't work for me.
I don't think it much matters be it tent or hammock if you're out in a storm and it decides to strike not much you can do.
great idea. I've been looking for something so the kids could be in hammock in places with fewer trees
Thank you for this post and for all the great comments. I've been trying to figure out the best way to get my 5 and 8 year old kids out with me
I would be up there trying out some of my new gear if it wasn't for my brothers wedding this weekend.
Have fun. My first time up to the SHT was a couple of weeks ago and we just did some day hikes. Ever since I got home I've been trying to figure out a time to go up there backpacking.
Looks great! I might have to try something like this but i'll have to figure something out seeing I'm on the tall side
looks really nice. Looks like a great spot for a hang too.
looks good enough to me and the main thing is if it works it's a success
both of them look great. One question how small do these pack down to? I've been looking at using the climashield in a under or top quilt but was worried about how small I'd be able to pack it down...
looks nice. That's the next thing on my DIY list. Any issues I should be aware of before trying to make one?
looks great! I'm surprised my wife still lets me watch any of Shug's videos. I seem to always be making or buying something after watching them lol
I just use normal chalk but it does rub off a little too easy
I might have to hit up my local Costco and if they have them send a friend to buy it for me.
That is an amazing idea. I love how it integrates right into your hammock. Sadly I don't think I could convince my dog to stay in one though lol
That things awesome. Love the tie dye. I might have to make one of these for warmer weather seeing the pad just isn't doing it for me.
nice! I need to try this. the ENO and Straps I have are just way to heavy
Thanks for sharing. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has moments.. or days like this
looking good! I just finished up converting a down quilt into an under quilt sadly it's been really warm here so I can't really test it out.
looks great! a tarp is the next thing on my DIY list, love the hammock too!
Awesome idea. I love using my 3D printer to fix problems like that
looks great. One of the many things on my to make list. I love the poles seeing I have a tendency to trip over tie outs even if I see them lol.
looks really nice. Might have to try making one of those someday... Just add it to the list of things I want to make lol
Thanks everyone. I know it's a little bulkier than actual bug net but I have a tendency to tare holes in bug netting and for the price I don't mind for now. Bobamos I hadn't actually seen that...
