HAPPY NEW YEAR to all
And lets hope its not like the photo!
What a waste of time-the only criteria is if the owner of the setup is happy with the hang.
Everyone else can put thier two cents worth in but a "world class hang" is ANY hang that is comgortable
ME-but only for myself
Nup-,its just me spelling it wrong!
Definately cringeworthy
That first one is not even a word(ir at least not in english)
Thanks for that.
Fall means nothing.
Autum is autum
And to back that up have youbever seen an evergreen forest-most are here.
What is "fall"?
Is that when your gear fails and you crash to the forest floor?
You cotton on pretty quick.
Makes getting out of bed mighty easy:scared:
Dont actually know how it ended up that way and i have no idea how to fix it.
I work with physical tools-not...
A few months ago.
7 months worth in this setup.
Who cares about "need" when there is so much to "want"
The general guideline with down is the smallest needle you can use and the thickest thread that can fit through the needle.
Down can escape through needle holes even with thread in them.
Ive...
No...i dont think dwr adds weight to the fabric-i KNOW it adds weight.
That would be like saying does paint add weight to your house-of course it does,if you use 12 cans of paint(6...
I did that but i used meters-the civilized measuring system.
I basically figured out that twice your own height gives the best comfort level without adding extra fabric/weight.
At 1.67 m(5'6")...
Has anyone made a diy pad?
Thought of making a diy pad.
Self inflating of manual inflate with down fill?
Sounds like a good project.
Now you will have to take ger on EVERY hang you go on!
That is a fantastic hottie.
I could do with one for home.
Bit late now that its spring here
Sorry,im to dumb to get 'implied' questions.
They get intergrated into the system same as any other straps.
The important part is the width interacting with the tree, the rest is whatever you...
The answer is fairly obvious isnt it?
You use 2" minimuim straps.
Doh?????
Cannibal,You have a cool avatar......but im not inviting YOU to dinner.
Whats wrong with cute?
To many of us are crusty old ugly coddgers so making your gear cute is ok!
What "horns.
Ive never seen any orns on these things.
Feet flippers and upper flippers and a head is all that protrudes on this device.
What stand?
No pictures,no links.
Black friday? Really?????
Black friday is ONLY friday the 13th of any month.
Black friday? Really?????
Blackbfriday is ONLY friday the 13th of any month.
I long for a place that tidy.
I can barely see the floor and havent seen the benchtops for quite sometime at my place
PhantomGrapler said it all.
3mm or 1/8" dyneema is the way to go.
Im 5'8" and USED to weigh 308lbs and ALWAYS use 3mm dyneema for hammock suspension.
I lost a bit of weight,down to 209lbs but...
I found marine store to be a great place if you need uhmwpe rops in a hurry.
The price is usually horrific but when you only need 2 meters $7 per m is not to bad.
Normal supplier sells at $2.30 per...
I never had a problem with 3mm dyneema.
Great tutorials on yt and i can splice std 3 and 4 ply ropes already.
My eye splice is a bit untidy though.
Hollow core splicing is just so easy...
Yep,sheet bend and double sheet bend for the other one i think.
I use them occasionally.
Interesting about your edge failure, ive never had one tear like that.
I try to be gentle getting...
Not even close.
Both knots you displayed joined 2 pieces of rope.
A bowline does not do this.
The photo below IS a bowline
You can avoid that as well if you dont cut the edges at all.
Use the selvage edge as is.
It does not unravel
NEITHER of these are a bowline
There is nothing wrong with the method in the video.
People on this forum tend to get a bit carried away with all the bells n whistles-to be expected really,it is a specialist hammock forum.
...
Thats AWSOME,i envy you.
The cold is easy to handle but how do you handle the heat?
Does nov 2020 to april 2021 every day count?
Ive just finished a top quilt and am looking at an underquilt shortly.
Yours is a nice job .
Dont think i would ever sew hardware onto any part of the hammock except the outside edges though.
I wouldnt sleep with a knife in YOUR pocket either.
But i have slept with a knife in the sleeping bag pocket and the hammock bag for easy access
I go to "manage atattchments" then select source-usually from "gallery"
The wheel spins then stops and there should be a thumbnail.
Click on thumb and select "go" then exit back to text page and...
Blocks, tackles, cleats, grinders, thimbles, and quite a few more-they like thier jargon.
If you are truly looking for high tree hanging look up "treefool" on youtube.

I screwed up on description of spectra-,it is a dyneema core with polyester sheathing.
I had not thought of the slippage factor.
Yachties swear by the stuff.
I also prefer the 10× safety...
And chain mail of olde NEVER protected from puncture wounds, only cutting.
Modern stainless chain mail is not to bad on puncture protection, but please tell me how you protect the HEAD-the easiest...
I DO use a taper-and almost as long as the bury.
And yes,its tedious doing that but its only twice as long ,which is 6mins instead of 3.
The stitching takes most of the time.
Maybe spectra...
That is an interesting study.
It would explain why there is a difference in breaking strains on different brands of the same diameter.
The dyneema im using is from amare in italy.
Both the...
You obviously have never been attacked with a knife
I think your signiture needs to be removed.
Most murders with knives are by ameteurs-disgruntled lovers, muggers or plain idiots .
You dont find butchers, surgeons, martial artists,or special...
I have noticed that as well.
Both sk75 and 78 come in two ratings
I always get the higher.
Im picking up 10m of GREEN sk78 as soon as we are out of lvl3 lockdown in hopefully 1 more week.

Sorry but there is no such thing as a "metric tones"
The correct word would be "tonnes" and calling it a "metric tonne" is an oxymoron.
A "tonne" is automatically METRIC.
