@theyland and @KeeWayKeno These dates should work out better for me. I'll watch the thread and see what lines up with my calendar.

Howdy @theyland ,
I have the same tarp and for years it was drip free. Just last fall, during a bad storm on North Tea, I started getting some dripping from the ridgeline and panel pullouts.
I...
I'm keen to get back up to Noganosh agaopin, but I'll be out east early August. Looking forward to a trip report!

Got a message from KeewayKeno around 6pm saying he scooped the island spot on McIntosh.
Jordan and I are heading up tomorrow after work to avoid the early morning drive. We're staying at Mew Lake...
We're going to shoot to get on the water first thing Friday morning. If that changes I'll let you know. I'll PM you my cell number in case it comes in handy for texting.
Ps. Thanks for the travel...
What's the average travel time from the put-in at Canoe Lake to McIntosh? Jeff's map seems to say around 5.5 hours.

Jordan and I are planning to start out Friday morning, heading home on Tuesday.

Thanks for the reminder on gloves! That's something I'd have forgotten. Forgot my hat for Ralph Bice, and sunglasses for a car camp at Pog Lake. Might have to run some yarn through my jacket so I...
I bought a second set of hammock and quilts in an attempt to get my wife out hanging. She went once, but after getting rained out badly, she's not keen to go again.
Now I freely offer a trip with...
Hi Tollermama,
Algonquin backcountry paddle-in sites are booked based on the lake you intend to stay on each night. Ontario Parks Reservations
You pick your start date, your starting access...
The fabled land of Chicamoula!
The first EGL trip I ever considered joining. That year I chickened out, leery about meeting random strangers in the middle of the woods. That was a mistake!
...
I missed that trip... Sadly!
Like ships in the dark, I don think we've met yet, Brian.
Thanks for the offer to show and tell. I'm not allowed to start a new project until I complete a few that I...
Great looking setup. Really sharp in the red!
I'll have to look into the pattern. I'm on the larger side of most bridge options, so I might do some research into making a DIY version.
Gonna miss you on future hangs, sir!
It is a great group of welcoming folks, and you are a big part of that spirit. Come visit! We'll set out some trees, and pea soup, and pulled pork, and...
I also cinch the double-ended sack down on the head-end suspension.
If I'm out for more than a couple nights, I put my car keys and other small stuff sacks in it so they don't get lost or blown...
Nice to see you out and enjoying nature this time of year! The last couple weeks have been great for an early spring overnighter, but I haven't been able to pull the trigger yet.
Like your new...
High Falls

It's literally High Falls in the Kawarthas. I asked for clarification in a PM, then smacked my forehead for not realizing it was that easy to...
I have a friend south of the border that works logistics for a warehouse, shipping thousands of packages via USPS every day. The scoop he got from his rep was that pre-election, orders came down that...

I'll just have the salad...
What breed/size dog are you planning to get?
My 7lb toy poodles sleep on, under, and in my 10D top quilt and WBBB without issue, but I imagine a larger dog would become problematic.
Finally got the parts together to build a Turtledog stand for the back yard. Really happy with it!
I've debated about standing up some 6x6 posts in the yard, but opted for a portable/collapsible...
Nice pics! The Pen lake timing slots in nicely between birthdays and Thanksgiving for me.
Valens is nice for the group gatherings... Typically it's a fun bunch talking around a fire, cooking a LOT of food. Definitely not an off the beaten path hang, with its heated washrooms. The COVID...
Daytime in August/September to be more specific. Best of both worlds, really!
Is Temagami still on the calendar for this year?
I can't join Lofty next weekend, but I'm putting a pin in the wife calendar for the Temagami or fall Algonquin trips options.
Also, I've want...
I've tried the freezing trick and it gets some bigger bits off. If the sap really gets into the weave, you'll need to use the rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol to get them really clean. Doesn't take much...
I'm going to pack a few extra alcohol wipes in my first aid kit for this. I used them up last trip when I sat on a sap covered log while "taking care of business" in the woods.
Not really related...
Rubbing alcohol will get rid of the sap on straps. If you want to use it on other fabrics (tarps and the like), test that it doesn't strip water repellant coatings or colors.

Unless you're trying to go ultralight, I don't think you'll find the bugnet causes any issues. I'm mostly camping within 3 hours of Toronto, and I've never slept with the bugnet open as there are...
Those are gorgeous photos. Looks so lush and green!
Nice view! With all the doom and gloom these days, I had to take a similar stroll along Duffins Creek in Ajax, ON.
A little coffee from the hammock, wind in the trees, and a flock of swans singing...
Keep an eye open for the EGL group hangs in the Canadian Trip Planning threads. The group has the occasional gathering at Valens Conservation (just east of Cambridge) a few times each year. The food...
Change of plans means I can't go up this weekend. Safe trip! Enjoy the cold!
Surprised there's no feedback on this quilt. Seems like decent value for those of us up in Canada.
Wonder if Hoffman Outdoor Gear will reach out to the forums with a sale on their quilts. Might...
I'll flip your question to a cousin that's out in PEI, but not on the forums. He might be interested!
Absolutely... hammocks only. [emoji6]
The hammocks will be stored loose in a bin, with a divider separating them from the tarps, suspensions, and biners, etc.
Quilts will stay hanging in bags in...
I'm migrating mine to the garage right now. I built 8' of cheap shelving along a wall that can hold 12 of those large black and yellow totes from your local big box store. They seem critter proof...
Any interest in Queen Elizabeth Wildlands? Bit closer, and I imagine it's equally deserted in the winter.
It looks like these dates line up for me and my brother.
No real preference on location. Niger looked good in the earlier trip report... Other crown locations are nice options to try/learn about...
Should we start a separate topic for the Feb trip planning/details?
It's not my daily sleeper, but I do keep a hammock hanging in the basement and frequently crash in it if the dogs wake me up early.
People give the strangest looks when I tell them about it, but...
That's a winner! Perfect for arriving at a trail head late on a Friday night, set up your rig and sleep until first light, then get on the trail.
No need to worry about sleeping in the car seat,...
Merry Christmas to all celebrating in the EGL gang and extended forum friends!
Hope you all got some nice new hanging/camping gear in your stockings and under the tree.
Don't think I can make...
I noticed that HOGS (Hofman Outdoors in Canada) is selling what seems to be a well priced -30C/-22F underquilt called the Chinook Extreme. The price seems competitive for Canadian shoppers, making it...
I grabbed a decent panoramic shot of the hammocks on parade. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191130/3bf86b84591ad1bee07c27ef94971eee.jpg
It was there on the table when I left. Someone would have picked it up. Giblets or Highboy are likely to have been the last to leave.
I'll dig around my bins and see what I can find to swap or share.
I'm also looking at a Smokehouse so I'd second Chard's request...
I'm in, and likely bringing a buddy along.
Aiming for Friday night too.
Mmm... Tasty!
I remember these from when I used to have aquariums. Daphnia make great fish food for baby fish in an aquarium.
Thanks for sharing!
