I'm embarrassed to say I didn't even know what those hitches were and had to look them up on animatedknots.com but I'm definitely going to be adding those to my repertoire. Thanks

Ooooo, washers are an interesting alternative too. Great DIY solution if you don't have any beastie's
You know, I thought about this first since I'm using some recycled tent poles but I use snakeskins on my 13' superfly and didn't want to risk poking holes in it with the split-ring pins
THIS! See, I knew I wasn't the first person that had this idea.
Oh yeah, I see what you mean now. I was going to try and reuse some spare tent poles that don't have tips like that so that's where I got confused. Thanks for clarifying.
Time basically. I'm not opposed to having it sewn but it takes time as opposed to be throwing some beasties on a loop before I go camping this weekend.
And I was referring to inner pole mod...
Do you mean with grosgrain? Or how do you keep a cord from slipping off the pole ends?
That's a great observation. I didn't consider any twist. If I went with any sort of line loop, there would definitely be a twist to consider as opposed to the grosgain which would remain flat.
I've got a 13' superfly and I definitely want to incorporate a pole mod. While I was doing some research, I came across this thread...
Would you mind posting instructions for how you built this?
I'd love to recreate this setup. Anyone have a template for the top plate?
Hi all,
Been a lurker for a long time but finally getting serious and have too many unanswered questions so I needed to make an account and get in the conversation!
