Check out the wide 1/4 evazote closed cell foam pad at Gossamer Gear. Perfect to go to 50 degrees and it gives good coverage, I use it now in addition to my 20 degree underquilt when I need extra...
Love my Dream Hammock, beautifully made and so comfortable. I will be hiking and sleeping in it this weekend. Much better than fighting to holiday crush on black Friday. It is worse this year with...
I have the HG winter palace in camo. I had a Lawson cuben tarp prior that was the white color, and traded up to the HG tarp. I like the camo much more than the white, it is still somewhat...
I am excited to get my Dangerbird ordered! I am #912, and since I placed the order have made a number of modifications to the order. The communication has been terrific, and I sure appreciate being...
My HG Winter Palace has two sets of CF strips to tie off to for the doors. You roll the doors and secure them with the small cordage provided. Works good. The attachments on my tarp are small D rings...
I did some business with a fairly large internet retailer and used a credit card directly to them. Somehow all of a sudden I got a couple of fraudulent charges on that card, which thankfully the card...
The Claytor JH is built well, but the stock suspension will soak up water like a sponge and transmit it directly to your hammock. Easy to upgrade to strap/buckles or whoopies. I haven't had any...
I will take it. PM me your paypal info please, thx.
Plus you can touch it all you want from the inside and it won't wet out. It is cool when you drop your pack weight in lbs. vs. ounces! Now when it rains it hits that CF like a drum head, nice sound...
Welcome from Oregon County.
I will take it - DIY camo belt
Welcome Sam, my wife and I are east of you in Oregon County. Clay ~
Welcome to Missouri Boulderman. Lots of great backpacking destinations, a good place to start is here www.ozarktrail.com/. You will find that Missouri is fairly flat in the north, the last ice age...
That is a nice knife, I'd keep it too!
Perfect weather right now to be out there, sorry that I am in the back 40, but at least I am in the hammock!
My family gets together to maintain the Ozark Trail, and usually have a half dozen hammocks or more strung up. We always get people who want to know more about hammocks and can give them a good look...
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks. I used a pad for a long time and it is pure luxury hanging with an underquilt.
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks.
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks!
Hiker, plus camper on outings like trail builds. Backyard hanging just to sleep outside.
+ 1 on the twist with index finger and thumb, but for my setup it is good about 45 degrees. I get an uncomfortable ridge if make the setup too tight. The ridgeline helps me to get a consistent hang,...
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks. Happy hanging!
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks. Bet you will be glad to get off the ground, sure makes for a good nights rest.
Wecome from a fellow Missourian, the Ozark Trail is a great place to hang! Go here for info www.ozarktrail.com
Welcome to the forums from a fellow Missouri hanger.
I have the triangle thingies from Arrowhead Equipment that helps to deploy the underquilt and keep it centered, but I think the quilt hooks look like they are the perfect solution. I have not used...
Welcome to the forums from fellow hammock hangers in the Missouri Ozarks.
Welcome, hope you have a lot of fun. Hammock Forums has tons of helpful info to help you get the perfect setup for you.
My wife hangs in her BMBH, oldest daughter in her Claytor, and youngest daughter in her WBBB. The boys and I add 4 more hammocks of varying types. It is a lot of fun when we get together and...
Nice setup, thanks for the pics.
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks, I am learning how to sew and hope to get to the point where I can work on some DIY stuff.
I have the HG Winter Palace. Love the cuben fiber for tarps. Impervious to water.
Starts out pretty innocuous with Gateway equipment like blue pads, old sleeping bags used for top quilts, Gear Guide tarps then wham! Next thing you know you are messing around with integrated bug...
Yep, really beats sleeping on the ground. I am glad you're first experience was so positive, and think you're strategy of staying with your simple setup as you gain knowledge of potential equipment...
I like to blend in to the environment. I dry camp a lot, and like when folks hike by and don't notice my setup. I can loop a piece of nite-ize on my ridgeline to create a beacon at night if needed....
Do you know what it weighs? Can't find that info, thx.
I have been down to 28F with a blue pad, keeps you warm but shoulders get cold when top insulation compresses against hammock sides. You need some kind of pad extension/wings at that kind of temp....
I drilled into the studs and installed some fat eyescrews, which must be beefy enough since they never dumped me on the floor. Guess you could paint them and hang some kind of decoration, candle, or...
An inside temp of 75 degrees will pull warmth from your 98.6 degree body. Some type of insulation is needed, at least in my case. YMMV
I used pads for a long time, blue ccf, then GG 1/4 evazote. I love the comfort of my underquilt, but I still carry the pad in case I need to sleep on the ground. I can fold the 1/4 inch in half and...
I showed a fellow hanger how to set up tarp guylines using the double fisherman to create a loop and turning the loop onto a prussik. It was very rewarding. Thanks for showing me some cool stuff to...
Sounds like you need to put a couple of eyebolts in the walls, just be sure you put them into the studs and you'll be set up to hang full time.
Wally World blue pad works good, I used one before I could swing an underquilt. My butt gets chilly hanging indoors without bottom insulation. You can go pretty low temp with a pad, but an underquilt...
When you find your optimal hang angle/sag you can put a ridgeline on it to get the same setup everytime. You can also use a string level on your ridgeline to help zero in your setup. After a while...
I have ordered from them a number of times and have had good service, and we have been very pleased with their products.
Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks. Minnesota is a beautiful place, enjoy.
