Safe passage for my STIHL farm boss in exchange for suitable parking spot Friday night.. [emoji41]

So...
Might there be room at the GT lot for some "creative" parking with optional equipment?
I'm planning on arriving Friday night ~10pm if anyone wants to meet in town and attempt a carpool in,...
I got a few dozen pierogies and kielbasa to warm up in the oven. Are we good with coffee? I can grab a bag on my way out
Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Ok cool
I'd rather drive straight up Friday for sure
Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
So how difficult is it to find the campsite in the dark?
I'm debating on coming up Friday after dark, or waiting till Saturday morning.
Never been to GT before

Now the neighbors know...
Gonna have to wear a speedo to the block party to top this one.

Be careful out there

I know they got some woodchippers there in Fargo... so must be some trees there, yeah?

From this morning, lapeer MI

I got my gear dialed in, new personal low down to 0deg last night. I'm ready for the GT...
Stupidest thing done while hammocking:
Step 1. Set up in the rain
Step 2. Share a common tree with a buddy at a 45deg angle between us
Step 3. Forget to double loop the cinch buckles, AND forget...
Would it be possible to guy out the ridge runner at the poles to provide some motion stability?
I imagine some sort of high load tension elastic in the line might dampen the motion quicker when you...
I got a question guys, and I figured I'd ask it here before bringing it to the general forum, hoping one of you might have first hand experience with it...
I've got a WBBB XLC, and an XLC wookie...
Put me on the list, please
Probably be up late Friday or early Saturday depending on work and the roads.
Just me, leaving from Lapeer, food TBD (whatcha need?)
Thanks guys

But seriously, what size (vol/liters ~) would something like that be, if one were to begin producing and selling them?

I've done two similar things with moderate success:
1. Use a "survival/shooting blanket" that has fleece on one side, waterproof canvas on the other. Fold it in half fleece side out and put it...
It might add a little, but the big factor is compression on the spots you'll feel it most. Unfortunately, a blanket will get very thin and loose its "loft" under weight.
A closed cell pad,...
One trick I've used on other hammock/UQ setups is to cut up a ridge rest pad to "torso-size". Same theory as a foot pad, cover the core heat area (shoulder and butt) and trim off the rest to...
Don't forget about a good under quilt protector, and good tarp coverage. I've found the UQP on my wooki and a tight- pitched thunder fly make a noticeable difference keeping the wind chill factor...
I'm gonna try and make this one. This looks almost too good to be true, and just about the time when cabin fever is at its peak!
I'll keep checking in as we get closer. Thanks for organizing it!...
Bam!
Forgot to mention the great family mentality here too

Hey
Welcome aboard!
There is a lot of useful info here on the forum to help you find what's best for you.
A lot will depend on your mission-
We have everything from occasional backyard bbq...
Yes, I like the DE bag on my hammock because It's fast and I won't ever misplace it. My tarp and UQ bags inevitably end up in a pocket of my jeans or jacket before making it back to the pack (if I...
I know it might seem trivial, but I would really like to see double end stuff sacks for my WB minifly and cloudburst traps, like the 6L one you guys have for hammocks. I've put off putting a...
..and now we see the process that brought me to a minifly and UQP. This works year round and is light and easy.
The doors on the tarp and longer coverage does block wind, but so does the UQP,...
+1 on the UQ protector
It will increase your effective range and can keep you in your hammock in the scenario you mentioned (dont need the liner) If you are creative, it can be used as temp...
Try it out and see if you like a pillow. If so, you can pack a small down filled one in your XLC stuff sack, inside the hammock without taking up extra space.
I also use a 20L dry bag to pack it...
I think four days of do-nun allowed me to get Into a very deep and lucid sleep. We probably all have stuff like this go on in our dreams, just don't recall it so easily.
As for ingestables that...
So I was up hanging all last week on the shores of Drummond Island, at the top of lake Huron. Had great weather all week and lots of fun.

Great "starter" kit, even a great experienced kit for that matter [emoji4]
That should get you through few seasons!

I'll take the hammock.
Let me know
Thanks

I regularly use a survival/shooting blanket, folded in half inside my DL XLC. It is similar to a woobie, thinsulate backed canvas. Perfect one-season summer solution but I use a UQ under...
Yep, let's do it
Send me payment info please, Heydad!

Dave-
Would you mind Sharing your Mi red flag list? I motorcycle camp all around The state and am also tired of arriving to a crowded/full/party campground at dusk.
