Someone PMd me with info on rope, I got it now, thanks though.:)
Does anyone going to the hangout have some rope that could be used to suspend a hammock that they could bring? I'll compensate you in some form, but I've been having trouble finding appropriate...
Definitely getting one of the organic shirts. Not for the hippie points, because you almost can't find shirts cut like that anymore.
What about patches? Would you have to get them from another...
Sorry I'm no help...I like ed's skinny orange stuff!
 OH NO! That's exactly the stuff that I wanted!!! Maybe I'll see if they can give me some or sell it to me at cost since there is a (cough cough) product malfunction...
...granted I bought...
I posted this as a reply to a thread in the supports thread, but if you're not using the "new posts" button, you probably don't check the "hammock supports" thread. So here it is:
I'm looking for...
I recently bought the Speer Winter Tarp and I love it. I used it Sunday night in the low 20s to upper teens and I was comfy. Lots of coverage and since it was so cold I pitched it straight to the...
I'm looking for a line that will replace a stock HH line. I bought my hammock at an REI attic sale and there's a spot on the cord where the covering is split and it's clearly starting to become...
Not from me. I've been at college, and I just got home for spring break on Friday. I'll likely do one in the next couple of days because there's nothing to do.
MAHHA for me!
that would be great. Like two or three would be better, showing how to loop it through.
-thanks
Is there any info on how to tie a garda hitch w/o clipping the loop in the biner? My rings don't have gates on them...
The material I have is pretty well worn, not so that it would be unsafe, but definitely softer than the day I got it. I actually like that it doesn't give as much, kind of like hanging in a blanket....
why's that?
Good deal. The canvas is pretty heavy, so not good for camping use, but I imagine it will be more comfy.
I'll report back later.
I want to make a hammock for home use (more like campus use...) and I don't want to have to use nylon. Could I use something like canvas? I've got an old drop cloth laying around that I could use.
I say whip it!
Whip it good!
Sweet. I'll do one up on setting up a speer winter tarp (my newest piece of gear!). I might even do it up tomorrow.
Do you want me to set up a youtube account for the site then just upload it? ...
I would consult Devo.
I kind of disagree with this point. Mostly when I'm looking for tutorials on youtube for any of my activities, I rejoice at the find of a 3-5 minute video with some decent detail and explaination.
...
agreed.
Hey there!
Seams like you've been busy! ;)
I sent you a PM with a request. Real Real Real simple one. A belt-mounted snack bag like on the Osprey Atmos series packs. Something like 3x5x3 or...
I use a Campmor 20* down bag. $109.99 and very good quality. On a 24* night, snowing/freezing rain/6-8mph wind with my JRB underquilt and the campmor bag only, I was TOASTY. I start with the bag...
excuse my ignorance, but what is a "Zhammock?"
-WARNING- Thread Jacking -WARNING-
PreachaMan, have your wife check her PM. I had a quick request for a sewn item.
What are the best knots to know for hammock camping?
If you list a knot, could you list a link detailing it and its purpose?
Thanks!
THAT'S EXACTLY THE KIND OF SYSTEM I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!!!
I wanted to set my hammock up knot free, but was skeptical about hitchcraft and didn't want to have to make the jump to strapping. ...
just as a heads up, I have a hudson river quilt that I got slightly used and I love it. slept in about 27 degrees with light wind (3-6mph) with my ULB Asym and a 20 degree campmor. I was TOASTY.
I'm not looking to compromise weight, coverage, or cost. What's the cheapest tarp that provides good coverage and is not too heavy on the wallet?
That's the new plan. Low of 29 with light rain and flurries with no accumulation. Going out to re-tension the tarp now.
...uhhh maybe. Forty and rainy changing to snow/rain mix overnight. dagger.
well, I bought my HR and I think I'm pretty happy with it. it looks like it fits pretty good on my HH ULB. I'm doing my first overnight in cold temps tomorrow night, updates to follow ; )
I would never wear the no sniveler though.
Is there any difference (besides the head hole) between the JRB No Sniveler and the Hudson River? Because really, I don't think I'd ever use the No Sniveler as a poncho and if that's the only...
that might be a good call; what size tarp do you use?
I was thinking about that, but I don't want to take up more room in my pack with another stuff sack (although I might be buying a bigger tarp that wouldn't fit anyway).
So I just got my snakeskins today for my ULB asym. I bought the size that hennessy reccomends, but how do you all get the tarp in with the hammock? Right now it's a real PITA to get the tarp in...
I bought my hammock used (not really, it was at an attic sale at REI and someone returned it after clearly not using it) anywho, the rope has some fray on one side. What kind of rope should I use to...
So what does the zip-tie hold on? Just the little nylon sheath that goes over the end of the hammock? because if that's what's holding the bunched end together I'm a little leary about undoing it.
Thanks for the heads up.
Could you explain how you replaced it?
Does anyone still use the standard method that hennessy explains to hang their hammock? Also, can you replace the rope on a HH?
Fringer: how do you like the cat tarp? Is that the big 10'x11'?
What do you guys think about the JRB tarps?
thanks for all the advice. I'm now in between buying a retangular campmor bag (of which I already have a mummy style) and a no sniveler. I'd like the no sniveler, but it's $100 more. We'll have to...
how easy is it to attach the no sniveler to the hammock vs the nest? Also, how much of a problem is it really that the down shifts to the middle and leaves you cold?
What quick and easy systems have you come up with for securing your hammock? I was thinking of tying a 'biner to each end of my HH and whipping the tail to make it permanent and cutting off the...
I knew they weren't cheap, that's why I was looking for the cheapest option. I set up my HH UL Backpacker in the basement where the temp is about 63 and my back after a while was noticibly colder...
I just received a HH ultralight backpacker for christmas, and I need to know what the cheapest workable option is for an underquilt or non-pad insulation. thanks.
Why would you choose the expedition over the ULB for longterm use?
