Nice looking family. I'm still trying to get my wife to go camping.
Looks like he's hooked.

Enjoyed the video. That's a nice section of trail. I've never done that section i think that means I need to plan a trip.

Great video like always. Winter is a pretty season. I was at a Boy Scout camp this summer and meet some scouts that have never seen snow. I invited them up from Florida this winter to do some hiking...
Welcome from Sparta, NC. There is usually a winter hang at Grayson Highlands. I've never been able to go yet but one day I'll make it.

It sounds like your into diy so I would recommend talking to Dutch at makeyourgear.com ( he also owns Dutchware .com) he has everything you mentioned.
I don't think the Linville Gorge is on fire or closed. You can contact them to see.

Welcome from NC. There is a lot to learn from the Hickory brothers but you might want to watch out for the Maple King.
Shug has a video about this it's the one where "green bean" gets damaged. This might help you.
Enjoyed the video but I will have to watch part 1 again when part 2 comes out. But that's not a bad thing.
I don't have my map with me so I don't know the how may miles this would be but I would go up to the scales and then down to the Little Wilson Creek. If your parking where I think you are that would...
Yes you will need to maintain the angle on your suspension. You can tell you have the angle right by how tight the ridge line is after you get in your hammock. I think Shug and Adam with WB has both...
Yeah it's all about the angle of the suspension. The wider apart the trees the higher the straps have to be to keep the same angle. It's usually around 30 degrees of angle on the suspension. If the...
Yeah I heard you aren't suppose to camp but people camps anyway. If you haven't ever been to trail days I would recommend it it's a blast. It's always the weekend after Mothers Day.
What I would suggest is to watch some of Shug's videos and see for yourself if hammocks are what you would like to try.
Max patch on the AT is nice can't camp there but you can camp close and I would time it to be in Damascus Va. for trail days.
Hello and welcome from the mtns of NC
One of the reasons I'm going to a smaller pack is so I can't carry as much. I definitely care way too much I still carry stuff I have never used in all the trips I've made. My wife is worse that I am...
Welcome to the forum from North Carolina. Shug has gotten a lot of people addicted to hammocks.
I got mine from JacksRBetter.
Sorry to hear about your mom.
Let me know if things do work out.
It may be Horace is still working there. I thought Adam fired him.
I have a superfly its a good winter tarp. If I only had one tarp I would recommend a winter tarp. You can still put back the doors and use a wild pitch in the summer.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome from NC.
I'm don't know that trail but I do know the Mst and sever trails on the park way.
I know go joe that's it off your hands. You might could try that. I wouldn't think it has any chemicals harsh enough to harm your straps.
Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of people with an vast amount of knowledge. If you have any questions just ask someone will be glad to answer.
Welcome from the Mtns.
Keep in mind this is an addition. Welcome and good luck.
Welcome from the top of the hill. I just went through state road this even.
If you are in your hammock you don't have much to worry about with lighting as long as your not grounded. Trees falling is a much bigger danger.
I live in the Blue Ridge Mtns. which is north of the Smokie Mtns. and it's cooling off at night alittle bit. It's starting to feel more like fall of the year. I would suggest you bring some kind to...
I have never tried to attach my peak bag to the hammock with the loops on the sides. My peak bag is the same color as yours and I attached it to my whoopie sling using shock cord and I use it for a...
Welcome from the mountains of North Carolina.
I have HG quilts with no complaints. I'm very happy with the quality.
