It seems to me that you’re on the correct solution already with a Prussik knot on the CRL. If you don’t want to feed your pole through like your have to do with a dome tent (one of the reasons I love...
Could this also be making me lose my subscription to the PIF thread? For the last month I've not been able to keep it subscribed at all.

I probably couldn't make this stand for the price, and a colorful cotton backyard hammock to boot.
...
As for me, I couldn't get enough of the entertainment of Shug's videos. The hammocking stuff may just as well have been subliminal.
Thanks Shug!
I have a pacemaker too. When I'm still enough to feel my heartbeat I rather enjoy the occasional pause and the following assisted beat, precisely because I know that I'm beating nature. It helps me...
Okay. Thanks for clearing that up! I've been wanting some, and its nice to finally know whee to go for them.
Where do I find the much discussed Dutch Clips? I don't see it on the dutchware.outdoortrailgear.com site.
I think there is more to it than that. Since that lower arm extends out from the main pole, you get some leverage working for you. Imagine extending it further with theoretical frictionless pulleys....
I've been nibbling on the diy tarp idea. Way to set the hook! Thanks for the plans, my order's coming soon. :)
I've read this thread with great interest. I've also read old posts about patents -- also ones that had the potential to get a little heated. When you start talking about someone else taking your...
Great thread, just what I needed! Thanks all!
Besides the fact that pins perforate your otherwise perfectly good silnylon! No sense in adding leaks to your tarp. I used a bunch of paper clips, and removed them as they got close to the sewing...
Good point. I'm fiddling with my ridgeline length on my WBBB clone now before I put the bug net on. Mosquito season is here though, so my time's just about up!
Subscribed. So simple, I'll probably make one while I try to figure out getting the bugnet onto my DIY WarBird.
Thanks Fronkey!
That's pretty serious! Fortunately I've got plenty of rooted trees in the backyard. I'm curious what it's going to look like with the shade sail.
A picture is worth a thousand words! Thanks for your many tips!
Me too: http://www.animatedknots.com/chainsinnet/index.php?Categ=climbing&LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
Very true. Avoid the widowmakers! :(
I use a chain sinnet (http://www.animatedknots.com/chainsinnet/index.php?Categ=climbing&LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com). It's just a series of slip knots tied one after the...
I'm up for a hang too as long as the dates work out. It'll be my first.
I'm 6'4" with average legs and long torso. I'm looking for recommendations for a good ultra-light or light backpack. My current pack weighs in at 8 pounds, and is ~90L! It's made for tall folks...
Very nicely done. I like it.
Pavel, this is why I love HF!
Fantastic! I may just steal this! :D
Shhh... As long as they think you're crazy, they leave you the best trees to hang in! :shades:
Experience for the win! Thanks OG!
Here you go :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9N3KkV5Zf4
Gotta love the shuggity-shug-shug -- Hammock ambassador first class .
Thanks for setting this up! Added myself and found some close by hammockers.
I throw an unloaded cord over a branch and hoist a pully up with another cord in it. Tie off the pully cord to the tree and use the pully for heavy lifting. I'm never lifting tons of weight -- just...
Fantastic thread and directions. Good to see so many successes and examples. Starting on it this next weekend. Thanks all!
My answer: both are safer! You'd have to weigh an awful lot to have either fail -- even if you used your hammock as a trampoline. The materials we're using are pretty fantastic.
Looks like you have to be a donating member to access that thread. Gargoyle must be on a sales mission! Maybe it's time huh?
Fun thread... Hangandy wins for best attempt!
Two points here: much of the damage to the tree from cordage is hidden from view. It is the crushing of the little capillaries that carry nutrients up the tree. These are between the hard outer bark...
The welds can also cause wear to your straps.
Glad you're here Hard2Kill!
Thanks! I'm addicted to the forum. My kids all want their own hammock now that I've made mine.
Pics or it didn't happen! :D
If you have a foot for the thread injector that rolls the hems for you, it's a cake walk. I get a 1/8 in. rolled hem in seconds with mine.
I'm liking the idea of the second gear hammock. Do you use tree straps for it? Do you ever find yourself sitting on you pack while in the hammock?
Great idea!
I imagine so. Are they discontinued? I don't see them on his site.
First the Nacra-biner, now the Nacra-sack! Thanks!
I picked up a couple FedEx envelopes (large and small sizes). They are made from Tyvek, and of course I had the idea to make a stuff sack from them.
I just got them this morning. After getting...
Back in the day my wife had a little lap dog that we took camping exactly once. It was petrified of the owls we heard into the night. Made for some entertainment on my part at least. Not much of a...
Thanks for this info! Helps a lot!
You can also sew up a quick silk liner from on-sale silk at your local fabric store. Adds some extra degrees to the quilt, and you don't have to bring it in the summer.
I like the seam configuration. Multiple colors is a nice touch too. I've been planning my tarp and will probably borrow this idea!
That's a lot of Twinkies!
