Oooo not a bad idea. Or maybe even a pair of old ship masts.

Haha! I never thought of that. Paying it forward, one kevlar tree strap set at a time.
Depends on what you're using it for. A tarp is important if you're camping, as well as top and bottom insulation.
Rolling the straps back up is the worst.
That's why I bring a set of straps for each night I hang. In the morning, I'll pack up my stuff and just leave the straps on the trees. Fresh new set of...
I'd say your best bet is to go to the Clark Hammocks website, go to the "Jungle Hammock" section, and take a look at the four models they have (pictures and descriptions) to see which one most...
Zing-it, Dynaglide, Amsteel blue...
The only cords I use.
Zing it for ridgelines and guy-lines, Dynaglide for whoopies (If you're brave and/or less than 225 lbs), Amsteel blue for whoopies if...
I tend to carry a couple 5 inch railroad spikes for marlin spike hitches.
They're pretty light at 5 lbs each, and you don't have to worry about your whoopie sling slipping off your knot and onto...
Spent the day yesterday making one of these for a hammock that I had already made out of Hexon 1.0.
I used 3 yards of the 0.5 nanoseeum, and it was the perfect length for a 100 inch ridgeline...
From personal experience backpacking in Maine during spring and fall conditions, I would definitely recommend a 20 degree UQ.
As far as length, I went with a 3/4 and that works for me.

Awesome!
Just ordered the stuff. I'm going to give this a shot.
That bug net looks pretty awesome.
How much does just the bugnet/ bishop bag combo weigh?
Thanks! How do I get this thread deleted?
This was very helpful
Ok, Picture thread time!
Post pictures of the best locations you've set your camping hammocks up with the best views!
GO!
New Hampshire represent!
Maybe I'll recognize you and your hammock gear up in the whites this year. I'll be sporting some new hammock gear quilts as well!
One advantage to the CF snakeskins that might be overlooked is the superior durability. It's also nice to not have to worry about my tarp touching the ground, catching on something, or falling in mud...
Buy a piece of hexon 1.0 from dutch and make a hammock. That's what I did and it works perfectly and weighs nothing.
NOOOOOO, don't tempt me!
Great... Now I probably need some hookworms... :shades:
All it takes is one instance where you get to camp early, set up, and sit back in your hammock to relax while your tenting buddy tries to get comfortable sitting on a rock, to know it's worth it.
There's always the option of trying to make a Hammock yourself.
Check out the DIY forum.
A netless hammock is pretty easy to do if you understand the basics of using a sewing machine (which can...
Oooooo, Ahhhhhhh
I find that the Zing-It kind of clicks into the hook. It holds so well that sometimes it is difficult to get the bracelet off haha
I usually do a foot for every inch of your wrist circumference.
Pretty cool! I still wear mine every day lol
Anybody else try one of these?
It would be better to pull out the buried ends to unravel it, otherwise you'd cut your rope in half
It has the same types of materials as the big carl, or a tarp suspension etc etc, but it's a very different configuration.
(Basically, don't try to make this with a big carl, the line will be too...
Haha me too. I'll be sure to share more of my tinkering in the future
Just your basic cobra braid. It looks tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy.
Single strand of cord, and the two extra "loose ends" I just tapered and buried in the loop at the end.
Oooo, that's not a bad idea.
Just messing around and I made a Zing-It survival bracelet with a Dutch hook.
Wear this and you always have 7 or 8 feet of Zing it just in case, and a dutch hook to boot.

Total Capacity?
How short are we talkin'?
Ordered a Half-Wit 2 days ago, and I've already received tracking information.
That was quick!
Order placed :)
Order placed :)
Nice! Are you working on the NH 48?
Thanks!
I'm glad I made the switch. Hanging in the whites is far more versatile and comfortable than sleeping on the ground, that's for sure.
Hey all, just joined!
If you're ever up in the white mountains, you might see me hangin!
