How long was the trail? I just got done with the Rae Lakes Loop around there.
Not really on the coast, but the Hetch Hetchy Loop is really nice. I just did that one back in May. I've been wanting to do the Sykes Hot Springs trail. Might do that one this fall or winter.
I'm backpacking the Trans Catalina Trail the end of this month and curious if anyone has done it with a hammock. I know it won't be easy, but I think it will be possible at least half the trip. ...
Thanks! Always interesting to hear how people make a hammock work on these longer trails.
I'm really wanting a new tarp, but having a hard time finding the ones I want in stock, let alone on sale.
I have the one Tigris and I don't feel it insulates well at all.
Beautiful trip!
I made my own pillow by cutting up a pillow I had into 4 and resewing it. Used it the first time last week and loved it! I might break down and get one of the Dutchware ones though. The weight and...
I got the built in 30 degree UQ. Ease of setup was one of the main reasons that I went with Superior. We typically get to our campsite after dark, so anything that makes setup easier is awesome by...
I haven't heard of any others, but I do have my Superior on order. Can't wait to test it out. I went with all the lightest fabrics, so I am hoping I don't take a hit on the weight.
I had that happen when I ordered a custom design ULA Circuit backpack. Shipped out the next day. I really thought it was a mistake and they just meant to acknowledge the order. LOL! Gotta love...
Thanks! Going to watch this right now! I can't wait to get my Superior in the mail... hopefully later this month.
Welcome! Fellow gear freak! ... although aren't we all here.
I love the look of your gear! So many pretty designs and the close up pictures are amazing. I wish I had even a little bit of your talent. One day I will have to get one!
Hi Travis, I'm new around here as well and also out West. I haven't been as lucky to find many group hangs listed on here. It seems like out East is where all the action is. I was almost tempted...
Yes, the goal is to eventually go solo. My husband does like to hike and adventure, but his back is bad from the army, so I don't think he'll be able to do the longer treks with me. He has a big...
Welcome! I'm also new on the boards, but way over in California. I'd love to get into canoeing. Maybe I'll start this summer.
Hello from California! If you are ever in the area, feel free to stop by for some eggs. I have a whole mess load of chickens. LOL!
That is gorgeous!!!!
Welcome! I agree, I'm also obsessed with the weather and what I can do to get through it. So excited for this winter season!
Welcome from California! I love this forum and it has helped me a lot so far.
Cool camera! I just got the Sony ZV-1... but now I'm wishing I got something just a bit lighter.
Nice! Sounds like my husband and I. I'm not sure he will last much longer as we head out into winter. So funny since he runs hot and I run cold. You would think it would be opposite. He did...
Sooooo beautiful!!!!!!! I can't help but think this is where Bob Ross must have painted all of his happy trees. LOL! Love all of the colors.
Sounds great! Right now only my husband and I hammock camp. The kids are more tent based. I think my son might try a hammock next time though! We'll see. He hammocks in his room, but is not sure...
I have started reading the trip reports on here. Very informative! Much better than watching the YouTube channels which are normally all tent based.
Right now I have the Tensa Solo. I just...
Thanks! I'm always looking for ways to make the two interchangeable without adding too much weight. I did notice that the system is a little heavy. There are just so many areas out here on the...
Haha! I guess I could list it as wearable. It doesn't technically go in my pack. I keep it in my pocket. It's pretty small (Sony ZV-1).
On topic... I'm still debating on returning my Solo for...
Thanks for these videos! I'm on a mission to learn knots!
That's a good idea with the extender. Maybe I'll have time to test it out this weekend, before I head out on the trail Tuesday. I do have a lightweight underquilt and a top quilt. I just need to...
Welcome from California!
Welcome! I'm new to the forums as well. I'm a female hanger... but not sure if I would call myself old. I like to say mid. Haha! I'm 42.
Oh man! This looks so nice! I need to be careful watching these videos. If not, I'll probably end up owning every hammock and backpacking option out there. LOL! I almost pressed purchase on the...
I'll have to check my lighter pack list. I keep changing things out. I really should ditch the camera and just use my phone. That adds quite a bit. Plus California is pretty much a desert in the...
I might actually try something like this next week. We're getting a bit colder here, but my winter setup has not come in the mail yet. This should get me by for the next month till it gets here. ...
Hmmmmm.... I think I might return my solo and get the TT's. I know they cost about twice as much... but I would really like the option of being able to use it as a trekking pole if I want. I like...
I've been torn ever since I pressed the order button. I really think I should have gotten the Trekking Treez. Then I wouldn't be adding to my pack weight. I don't use trekking poles, but I could...
What is your base weight backpacking? I think I've got it pretty close that the Solo won't be too bad to carry although I only plan on bringing it if I think there might be a possibility of not...
I just got my Tensa Solo in the mail this past week. I can't wait to test it out! Maybe tomorrow after work I will have time and I'll post a pic.
On that note... one of the reasons I have not...
Looks like a great trip! I would love to travel to Europe one day. So many beautiful places to see.
Wow! That looks like you have awesome sewing skills! I'd be scared to see what mine would look like if I tried.
I have a shelter for my shepherd that has walls on 3 sides. I'm not sure she...
Great video! I love watching other adventures. Thanks,
Thanks! Yes, having lots of fun! I get out every other week for some hiking, hammocking and camping and I love trying something new each time. Love the community here!
Looks like it's going to be so much fun! I wish I didn't live on the other side of the states.
I'm going to have to try this. I guess I never thought about less is more when it comes to the cold. I'm always cold.
Thanks! I'll check them out tonight! I know I need to work on my connection points so I need to pay attention to that. I've been practicing knots, but I need to practice more so they stick in my...
Thanks! Very excited to be here! I really enjoy my relaxing outdoor time and it's nice to get tips on how to make it even better.
Welcome Mig! Great to see you over here as well as on the FB groups. Just looked up your FB site and I LOVE your camper! My goal when we retire is to get a camper and just travel around North and...
I'm loving watching all of Shug's videos. Super entertaining and informative at the same time. I was just watching the whole hammock how to series. I probably should have started watching them in...
That is a great idea! I am totally going to do this!
