Most excellent! As already said, the color is great. I am terrified at the thought of sewing a tarp. Those very long seams along the edges, and the ridgeline are very intimidating to me.
Great job!
I had a great time Karla, and the food was fantastic! Good people, good food, and good fun. I am pleased with how warm my underquilt kept me Sunday morning.
Had a great weekend! When the coleman stoves and dutch ovens came out, it was pretty amazing. There is no way anyone eats better than at a baconfest.
I should have taken pics. The oven is the only way to go when cooking a bunch. When can we arrive? I am in no hurry, it looks like rain tapering off in the afternoon.
Going to bring a ham radio and...
I used 4 fence rails. top rail is 2 six foot pieces. Legs are 2 rails cut in half, and I used the leftover from the top rail to make four 2 foot sections to put on the legs. If you cut them...
I think I am going to sew a new cover for it. The fabric is much thicker, and heavier than modern fabrics, I am doing a second synthetic, just got my insulation, Then I will tackle making one with...
Check out tacblades on youtube. He has a bunch of videos on that stuff.
Yes it is. Limit I believe is 25.
I will try to get some pics with someone in it. It doesn't appear to me to tighten up with the extra 2" along with the side differential.
It seems to help, as there are no tight spots that I can see. The temps here have not risen to the rating of 30* for me to try it overnight. It has felt warm at 35 for a couple hours, but that is not...
Thanks for another excellent video. I love winter camping, no bugs, no crowds, no mud.
@hutzelbein for indoor hanging tips.
After making an underquilt following the basic RBTR instructions, with a couple of differences. I measured the inner layer to the dimensions I wanted it to be, and added 4.5" in width to the outer...
It is a simple and easy project. Getting ready to make UQ number two, with changes.
On the ends, instead of the 1" grosgrain, I am going to fold under 2" of the liner to make the channel. It will...
This is what I am doing. A couple of apex UQ for 3 season use, and once the sewing skills get better, a 0-20* down UQ for winter.
I plan on begging Shug for a pic of his fleece face mask so I can ...
Check in the hangouts, campouts section. It is broken down to region. You will probably get a response there before here.
I was looking at HyperD or the hexon in 1.6. Interested in where this goes.
Jabbing a needle through adhesives leads to bad things. Look up flat felled seam. That gives a lot of strength when joining fabric. It's the "double seam" on your levis.
That stove warms you up more than you think. Things like dragging, cutting, and looking for wood is part of it too.
Is it this? https://dutchwaregear.com/product/virtus-camo-printed-fabric/
It is a Suzuki Burgman 400. Just a big scooter.
I spent unknown hours is Eastern KY running through the woods, and camping. Very beautiful area, I miss it.
This one has no side channels. It seems to be ok the limited time I have had it up.
@Salt Here is a video of the box style differential jellyfish uses.

I have considered changing the ends by folding under 2" of fabric instead of the 1" grosgrain. It would be lighter, and I can fold that into a channel for regular suspension, or use it to anchor snap...
Do it in spurts. Watch a couple youtube vids to get motivated, and cut out the fabric to your desired size, fold it up and set it somewhere you will see it. Repeat the process again, cut the...

Yes, propane will vaporize down to -40.
I like your method for heating up the canister, it does not scare me in the least. I am lazy, and prefer to use propane in the canister during the cold months. It will vaporize at pretty much any...

Put a handwarmer up in the little cup in the bottom. Should give some heat for vaporization, but not enough to hurt anything.
It is a trap though. "I can make the next one better", and the next......
Dark olive outer, and black inner. Real original, eh? I used the 1.0 hyper D and it is very light and has a nice feel.
Santa brought me a RBTR underquilt kit for Christmas, and after practicing on various fabrics, and making a mesh ridgeline storage doodad, I cut the materials, and practiced some more with the...
There is snow up north of here, but we have had only 6" this year, and it is now about 2" of icy mess. Not a lot of fun to slog around in. The single digit temps the next few days will make it all a...
I love how the sun looks on the ice. Not so thrilled to walk around on it. Nice pictures!
You lose efficiency with that large air space to warm up, but it would be an improvement, I'm sure. Depending on temps and dew point, you might have condensation issues on the quilt.
No one opens them slowly to see how they are folded. They are excited to see it, and don't consider folding it back until it is too late.
Welcome Andy! There is much to learn here if that is what you desire. Many trip reports from everywhere as well.
Nice video. Personally, I am not a fan of the foot shot as you walk along. Kind of tough to make out anything. Maybe get a shot a few feet out in front so everyone can see how the trail looks.
I am...
They can do some damage, and be tough to get out of once you are tangled up.
They are evil. It's like a green piece of barbed wire, a little bigger than a pencil lead. They don't look like much, but I am guessing they are stronger than amsteel.
I do not know their proper...
That place looks full of whiz briars.
Wow fimbul, that looks great!
Looks like a lot of work, and a lot of fun. I have never tried a hot tent. I sort of like getting acclimated to the cold when winter camping, it's always been part of it for me. Being older now, that...
Thanks for the video! Awesome as always.
Should have my registration and payment.
After playing around with this, I think I am going to try and sew up an underquilt using catsplats calculator. I will just use the down from the bag, and see how it goes.
I was going to shoot for...
