No Didn't even think about it.
I got the grey w/ a burnt orange winter cover and bug net w/ the ridge line organizer. I don't think any picture I could take could do it justice. My first...
It was as comfortable as my bed. Anyone that is shopping hammocks should just go ahead and get an 11' Dream. I was expecting the hammock to be nice and convenient with all the perks added to it,...
edit: saved my sanity and ordered the superfly. my wallet is happier.
That's my main hang up on the Winter Palace, it is basically $450 after you add the tie outs and a sleeve then I'd add a continuous ridge line and rigging from dutch and after that, it is a $500...
The price point on the winter palace is the main hang up. I felt it was too big also but I want full coverage which it sounds like can't be guaranteed with the standard. The search continues.
I've decided to quit fooling around and upgrade my tarp and I'm debating between these two. I've ruled out the winter palace based on pure cost and size. I'm curious if the cuben is worth the...
Dream Hammocks. I am leaning towards wide to be safe. I don't put in a lot of miles so the weight isn't a huge factor. Of course, write than and my brain says "yes, buuuuttttt . . ."
I am looking to order a new hammock. My current hammock is an eno double nest. I am debating ordering a standard size hammock from DH, but wonder how much I'll miss the width. I don't know anyone...
Does anyone have any insights into the difference between the sparrow and thunderbird?
edit:
nm, found a thread on it, now I'm more confused. . .
I am looking hard at dream hammocks but can't seem to decide what to do. My current set up is an eno double nest for reference.
I seem stuck on what size fabric to get and whether or not to get...
I got funds from banana so . .. sold.
Bananahammock has 48 hrs to get funds. I guess effectively that is Monday morning. If he doesn't, it'll open back up.
It works fine. As stated in the original post, I just don't get in the woods often enough to have 2 hammock set ups and a ground set up. My wife doesn't camp, my kids hate going camping so I get to...
It does have the tarp - I should have stated that earlier - it is the full set up in the original green.
This is the air mattress:...
I don't have any pics handy, but it is the standard green color like you'd see in Shug's videos. As per site rules, it is Banana Hammocks to lose at this point.
I bought this rig on a whim and have come to the conclusion that I just do not spend enough time in the woods to justify having 2 set ups. It has been in the woods one night and everything on it is...
I really need to replace it, I won't lie - it has kept me at the house a couple of times out of paranoia.
I had a friend that tried this and ended up soaked AND had extra stuff to carry - he swore he would never do it again.
If I am alone, I generally get up and go. With others, it seems to end up being more of a slow start.
I would have to agree w/ that. When I was chosing gear to get started, anything I watched about the hennessy set up was a turn off to me.
No problem, I'd just set it up under the hammock I think and let the run while I slept. maybe like under your butt or mid-section area. . .
I understand that - I retired mine sooner rather than later b/c it was so unsightly, but if you are wanting to get set up and going - an ugly suspension in the woods today beats a nice looking one in...
Make sure you have the cap on that nalgene bottle good, I've seen that go terribly wrong before.
I neeeeddddddddddd this tarp.
First, a pad is a pain in the neck to get situated just so. . .then you have to stay on the thing in the middle of the night. I know some people do it, but it drives me completely crazy. Second,...
I had hammock gear make this exact set up for me. I have taken it below freezing and been just fine. I did sleep in my down sweater to be safe, but I was fine. I really wanted one set of quilts. ...
I use this exact set up. I don't do it often, but I've never had a problem when I did do it.
I follow that rule and have never been bitten. I've also never taken a bug net hammock camping . . .that cant' be a coincidence.
Get one of the bishop bags from dutchware, they are nice.
Ack! This is why I check the weather like 50 times before I use my Noah's 9. . . never had it in a bad storm and don't really wanna know what happens if I get caught in it.
makes me want to order more hammock gear stuff.
Another thought on the side sleeping - something between your knees can really help too. . .
Just need to get your tarp out in the yard and practice with it before you get into the field. You would be surprised how many different ways you can pitch it. Don't go into the woods w/o...
Kelty Noah's 9 (hung in a diamond set up) or the 12 square would do you.
That is nice. I've always been shopping for an upgrade to my Noah's 9' but never have pulled the trigger on anything.
I don't see why this is a bad idea. I mean you wouldn't want to store it this way, but the guy says that. Much less bulk, water proof, economical(prob more so than some swanky purpose built bag) ...
Dang, good job - I wish I had gotten up the nerve to give it a shot when i started.
The ridgeline should have no impact on the stress of the straps - that would be all the angle of said straps and the load on the hammock. It is possible to change up the geometry as such that...
I have just lined my hammock w/ a fleece blanket before and it did okay.
I went awhile on a home grown suspension system w/ some old cargo straps, some carabiners and other odds and ends I had - mind you $35 isn't a ton for the DW set up, but you might have a free one at...
I'd add shock cord to my guy lines and pull things out as tight as I could, but at some point any tarp is going to lose to high winds. I wouldn't imagine it woulda been exactly quiet in a tent...
I prefer bright to camo as at times I can backpack in areas that are legal hunting grounds.
I use pillow cases in a closet myself.
Definitely. you get to rolling around too much trying to work things you, you'll end up back outside of the hammock in a dramatic fashion.
I tend to use alot of zing it, but I'm not picky.
I have to say I started watching Shug for the hammock videos, but in the end have watched every single other video on his channel. . .
I haven't used it hammock camping, but I'm a big believer in a thermacell - maybe worth a purchase.
I have almost ordered a dream no less than a dozen times, always back off.
I would suggest you aim for a decent grade hammock. Chances are if you like using it, you will want another sooner rather than later then the cheap hammock is sunk cost. You certainly don't need...
The first place I would go to is upgrading my clothing. Wait a few more months until we are in the dead of summer and start looking for deals on down mid-layer jackets, merino wool long johns, etc. ...
