Shug is a gold mine for sure.
I assumed that they attached to the ridgeline. Would it work to attach them with a prusic? I can likely just get by the way you do. Less is more sometimes. Thanks.
I take it you have been there. Two to three weeks is what I was planning on.
I might message you some time about hiking trails and camping areas in your neck of the woods. You are in amazing part of the country.
I bet that the shelf is really nice to have for sure. Since weight is a bigger deal on backpacking trips I think that I will get a peak shelf/gear loft and a ridge line organizer. This way I can go...
I'm comin' straight to you next time Shug!
Does anyone have experience with these quilts? I like the idea of using it as a top quilt when I am on the ground, but I worry a little bit about how well it hangs as an underquilt.
Woodland Caribou is where I really want to get to.
Or...you could just use a pad until.......
Shug
This video really shows how you like to tinker and modify things as much as I do.

I forgot about JacksRB. I just started looking at the used gear sites I know of, might have to open my FaceBook account and try there too.
Entering on Seagull and traveling up to Knife Lake. I was on Knife the first week of June last year and decided to try an earlier trip. About 95% of my 40+ trips up there have been Sept/Oct for the...
I looked at those, but I am a backpacker also and really would like to stick to down for compression. I might go that way in a pinch though.
Do you know if they use comfort ratings? I noticed that the 20 degree wookie has the same amount of down as a 40 degree from UGQ or EE.
I decided to take the plunge and try a hammock on my BWCA trip next month. I've been mulling over the multitude of options and finally decided on the Eldorado (thanks Shug). But now UGQ, Loco Libre,...
I have heard you say that on your video's, but I was surprised to see that the shelf costs $55. The shelf would be nice, but my conservative nature makes me think twice.
Is the Eldorado really the same as the XLC without the shelf? If so, the shelf must be pretty special to justify the $55 price difference.
I will do some test runs in the back woods beforehand, but yes. The first first 40+ trips were in a tent so the hammock will be the only thing that is not second nature by now.
I am trying to decide between the Dutch's Chameleon and the similar offerings from Dream Hammock and Warbonnet, but this new ultralight version might be a interesting alternative. I am 6' 3" and 230...
We are starting at Seagull Lake traveling northwest to knife lake. If I can get my kit together I will be hanging for the first time up there. Where are you going?
You're in hanging heaven now, enjoy it!
Im am planning on buying a winter tarp this year however I'm not sure which vender i should go with I'm considering Dutch Xenon, UGQ Winterdream, Wallhalla Hammocks, or TrailHeadz. I want and 12ft...
This^^^^. I cut an old fleece sweatshirt into a bib by cutting off the arms and back. Useful in bed to keep the condensation off your bag, and useful when winter hiking - my belly gets cold, but I...
Your almost as new as me. What Hammock/Tarp do you use? I am trying to decide what to get.
Welcome! I’m in Green Bay myself. Lots of good hammock action here in WI. If you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods feel free to shoot me a message and we can geek out about hammock stuff. ...
I will be in the Boundary Waters until the 22nd or so, but If I get back in time I will try to stop by.
Shug's videos are what hooked me in the first place. So many choices out there. I can see how going to a group hang would be a great way to "see" what is out there.
I have been camping for years (decades actually), mostly BWCA/Quetico from a canoe, but I am just getting started with the hammock. Lots for me to learn and this forum looks like a great place to get...
