There's a great thread here on R-values and how they differ in a hammock:

I started as a stomach sleeper but sleeping in the RR has actually turned me more into a side sleeper, even at home. It's REALLY comfortable. You'll definitely get a flatter lay with the pad but it's...
White Mountain Oktoberfest is at Loon Mountain, if you're in Alexandria it's just about an hour away.
It definitely gives a flatter lay if it's inflated fully, but depending on the thickness can also feel more "tippy" and it would need to be pretty well inflated before I would call it "significant". ...
Curious- with all the updating/upgrading you've had done to this tarp after purchasing it, what's prompting you to sell it off? Did it not work well as a winter tarp?
If you are primarily sleeping in warmer temps the Cloudburst is really an ideal choice. Only 11' but designed specifically for the RR configuration/spreader bars, its a slam dunk. If you want more...
I'll take it- spindrift
Lots of great info from JustBill there.
I have to say some of the shipping seems a bit out of line. I had carted a set of panel pull poles but balked at $15 in shipping costs for an item that breaks down to 19" and less than 6 ounces....
Lots of opinions, comfort is different for everyone. I found that for me any pad that was warm enough to matter lifted me too high in the RR to get the same comfy feel. I don't get out in cold...
I do a lot of summer camping and thought I'd get by with nothing or a lightweight pad- neither worked out well. A one season 3/4 length synthetic from AHE was the perfect solution for me.
It's hard to say for certain without knowing the temp forecast for your trip. Average lows in MN are 34/35 degrees but it could be significantly different from week to week. With the gear you listed...
Single or double layer Ridgerunner? Is the Cloudburst nylon or poly?
My kids are fairly young so we primarily car camp right now making weight and compressibility non factors. If I were buying a single set cost wouldn't be much of a factor but when you start adding up...
They all store fully lofted in the bins. I have 13" of clearance so each bin can comfortably hold 3 quilts. Much less compression than a cotton storage sack.
I lay some flat in plastic bins and store them under the bed.
I sleep in a RR exclusively and the only issue I've had is if I leave uneven weight in one of the saddlebags (knife, flashlight, etc) it can flip on you. Otherwise it's never been an issue>
The "Big Guy" bridge from JustBill sounds like the way to go for the non-DIY big guys...

Due to a family issue my son and I are not going to be able to attend. We are very disappointed, it's been on our calendar for months.
I have both quilts as well and agree with baldknobber that the EE pad strap system is best. I have to go to the ground when I bring my youngest camping so I have both quilts in the wide format. Not...
Arrowhead Equipment makes a great, inexpensive alternative with their Ridge Creek XL:

"Harold" Hang? Maybe some details for people newer to the forums....
I was a bag user for 20+ years until I was gifted an ENO Spark topquilt when I started hammock camping. It had some comfort and quality issues but I was shocked at how warm I was in it. It was enough...
I'll take them.
This sounds awfully tempting....
There are some inexpensive synthetics out there (Amazon) that would be plenty warm enough for Florida if you really wanted to save a few bucks. I was surprised at how warm the ENO Spark ($99 from...
Just realized this was in the Warbonnet section, not the general topics. Apologies for pushing another companies product in my last response. I know the cottage vendors here are all very gracious and...
I would not want to use a 4” pad in my RR just from a comfort/stability standpoint. I had good success with the REI Flash insulated reg-wide (25X2.5, R 5.2) down into the 20’s but I picked up an AHE...
I've been thinking about trying out some hardware for a little while and this was just enough of a nudge.....
No reason for me to own that. None. It's seriously cool enough to make up a reason though....

My only option is basement storage so they go into cotton storage bags and then each one gets its own plastic bin. I put a few 5g color changing silica gel packs in each bin just as an added...
The buckles hold up pretty well to rain and snow, I'd be surprised if wash water caused you much of a problem. If you're really concerned though and weight/bulk isn't an issue you can use a carabiner...
Thanks for the feedback. I grabbed a stock Cloudburst with the Black Friday sale. At that price if I decide I want the bigger custom tarp down the road I can almost get my money back re-selling it! ;)
You have to add items to your cart to see the discounted price.

Specifically for use with the Ridge Runner, is the Cloudburst the tarp to go with? Or is the Superfly the way to go? Or is it just best to pony up and go with the custom 13’ Cloudburst? (3 season...
Friday at 12AM....
Lol- that IS a monster, but you can always loosen it a bit to cool off. If it gets too cold for your gear that's when things turn ugly fast!
Contacting [email protected] seems to be the recommendation here on the forums....
EDIT:
Although it appears on another thread that she is no longer making them. :(
Pretty much out of curiosity I just picked up a used EE Long/Wide 30 degree and I can't believe how small it packs. It weighs in at about 16 ounces. Pretty sweet.
I prefer loose packing my topquilt on the rare occasion I backpack (young kids have temporarily made me more of a car camper).
Andy- if that sucker comes in at 20 ounces put it up for auction now!
I was impressed with the 27oz from Oneclick's Incubator!

Just curious- what's the weight on that underquilt?
RI native here. Pretty new to the forum but I’ve been camping, hammocking and backpacking for 20+ years. I have young kids (10 and 6) so I mostly car camp lately. We hang at Burlingame and George...
Added it to the calendar, looks like we are in. Looking forward to it!
While our selection is nowhere near that of the hardcore collector, we do have a fair amount of cast iron cookware. If anyone...
My wife gave me the Chill Gorilla as a "surprise" a while back. RidgeRunner and 12' tarp get swallowed up with ease. I hadn't really been in the market for skins but it's come in handy more than...
I picked one up a few weeks back during the sale and it's really a great fit. I haven't had it out in the field yet but I'm looking forward to a test run, hopefully this month...
I'll take it
Family friendly? My son (11) and I are both cast iron enthusiasts! It's our only cookware when car camping.

I didn't know Marty personally, I only spoke to him by phone- barely 2 weeks ago. I don't know if his passing was sudden/unexpected, but my sincerest condolences to his wife and family.

Check out the custom tarp option on the Warbonnet site. You can get a 13’ Cloudburst with the panel pulls set for the RR, panel pulls set to the proper distance, doors and a few other options to...
