I just received my door kit and had similar questions for my cloudburst tarp. There are no split rings on the underside of the tarp- so I used the d-ring pullouts. The shock cord is not long enough...

If you don't get a permit to Yosemite, Desolation Wilderness is AMAZING with different trails and lakes.
