On the opposite side of the river from the falls at the bend is one of my all time favorite campsites. Unless we get some rain the falls are probably pretty sorry right now.

Hercules glades is not big and grand but it has some really excellent features. There is plenty of water for drinking and if you go after a rain the falls are great. Your feet will get wet. You can...
I would double check that you have not missed one of the washer tension points. It's easy for the thread to come out or go behind those.

That is going to be pretty heavy for a protector. Bit of that is what you want to use it for I would definitely spray it.

nm I got it.
looks like it is all messed up to me.
Perfect. Thank you.

It won't move enough to matter.

Can you show the rayway footbox and describe it a little more?

Can you post a picture of the inside of your footbox?

Did you ever make this?
That is a better design but it still seems like it would suffer some heat loss. Maybe in the real world it collapses down on itself enough to keep a continuous layer of down between your feet and the...
I think the same thing. I use a 1960-1970 era jenome made new home machine. it is heavy and built like a tank. I picked it up from a local babyloc dealer. They took it in on a trade and tuned it all...
Right now I am planning on doing kero step. But I have not finalized that.
As far as doing draft tubes do you have an example of what you mean? Surely I am not treading new ground here right?
I am about to get started on a couple of top quilts and I am looking for good examples of non sewn through footboxes. I am not finding much out there. Most of what I have seen is a simple sewn...
I my underquilt is good with right at a pound of down and I have taken it down to about 19. I want my top quilt to be maybe just a bit warmer. Should I do just a bit more?
Looks like a tank. That is my kind of machine.
Here is mine. I have not spend the night in it yet but so far I love it. I have used it for lounging for the last week or so.
Weighs in at 8.5oz and it is right at 11ft.
...
I am not sure of the exact finished width but I would guess it is 65-66. It is 11ft long.
I did some lounging yesterday and it is impressively comfortable.
Alright this is what I came up with.

So it is all self contained.
Well the wait was worth it. I have been itching to make a proper backpacking hammock since completing my under quilt, but when I heard there was a new robic coming and no trips planned until fall I...
I have kind of been thinking about making the shock cord completely contained in the hem.
I was thinking I would use 10 inches or so(relaxed) and knot the shock cord up on each end. Then sew some...
That is kind of what I was wondering. My indoor hammock is on the narrow side and my pillow always falls out. So will having it near the pillow help keep things contained better than having it at the...
I am going to start on a new hammock next week. I have a few questions about Knotty mods.
Are you doing both sides?
Are they both at your feet or is one on the head side?
Is there any...
Thank you Team! I have been waiting for 4 months to get that order in. Happy 4th everyone.
Are the other things something I should check back everyday for, or check back every week for?
Kyle,
Are things still moving forward on this fabric?
Awesome! What is the weight of this? What makes it better than the other fabrics of similiar weight?
Kyle,
Happy birthday! Do you have a new hammock?
You will love the clews. Did you account for any fabric stretch in your design?
I experimented with this on our last trip. It worked out pretty well. It is not super light at over a pound.

I think I am going to make it a goal to section hike the whole trail. Thanks for the heads up.
What part of AR are you in?
Look up Gemini under quilt for a diy solution.
I do use a fleece sleeping bag in it. That works ok but it is a little cool on winter nights. I will figure something out.
Has this ever happened?

Is this creating a mechanical advantage like this?
https://theultimatehang.com/hammock-hang-calculator/
Playing around with that if you change the hang angle to 5 then the shear force ramps up to over 1000 pounds. Can some one explain (if there is...
I finished up the hammock last night. It lays pretty good. I need to get a ridgeline made for it. I was hoping I could go without bottom insulation with this thick canvas but I don't think that is...
Alright, So I am pretty new to all this thread injecting stuff. Do I need to worry about anything unraveling if I wash it without hemming it?
Do you have any plans to DIY a new hammock? That eno single can't be super comfortable.
and a week of vacation? I am not sure I am ready for that kind commitment.
Has any one here made a cotton hammock? I keep a hammock hung the basement most of the time and I think cotton would be a bit more comfortable than nylon. I found some pretty soft yet thick canvas at...
Gemini is the way to go on a budget. I don't think we have any real cold temperature testing yet though. My guess is about freezing though.
I think the conclusions thus far are that the clew suspension is lighter than traditional suspensions, but not by much. The clews should not really add any bulk. I have a pound of 850fp in my full...
I have a new home machine that looks a lot like that. My machine is a tank and I really enjoy using it. It is all metal and with very minor care will outlast me.
Does any one else think this sub7 looks terribly uncomfortable?

Lot's of people are using top quilts on the ground. Just get one that is a bit wider.
