And thank you for such a quick and helpful reply Wanderlust78!
Love the internet.....found Dutchwaregear and I think that's the dude who makes all those cool things for our hammocks.....
Hello,
Long time no here. Still love my hammocks, but, just been like....super busy.
I am in need of some Amsteel Blue 7/64 dia. I could just purchase this from Samson Rope, but I think I...
Howdy from a ground dweller!
I've been here abouts for about two years and the people here have vastly improved my outdoor living. Since the early days of Boy Scouts, I've been a rope and knot...
I was outta the loop for about a month. Don't want to do THAT again! Learned too much here. $20 plus $10 as a tip because of all the knots I now use because of you folks!
Michael
Still a...
I love this knot!
I use it for moving canoes, hauling heavy tools from my woodshop, attach it to a tarp then load the tarp with wood, then haul to fire pit. I love this knot and I learned about...
I have a wife with cold feet so I think I'll give this a try for her. Thanks for posting it, testing it, and for all the other "its."
Mike
I am no hammock aficionado yet, but my finished whoopies are the length you posted. Haven't need the full length yet, but it's there if I do need it.
Boys Scouts, Tree climbers, this forum, and the Internet. Great resources. Thanks.
Yep! That is way cleaver! Thanks for sharing! Just happen to have some of those things laying around. Might want to give this a go. I'll bet the wife will just "love" this idea, tpkanu.

Hard to beat advice from the trenches. Thanks. Sounds like you've done the testing. Thanks for sharing!

Well, it ain't real dirty (except for some mud near the foot box.) It doesn't have an "odor" to it cause I don't use it all that much like you folks might. I was just wondering if you "elevated...
Howdy!
I have three Grand Trunk hammocks (singles) and wonder if it's ok to throw one in the washer with a little soap and a soft cycle. I've had one of them for five years. I am also wondering...
I'll try this explanation: try bringing the live end up and around the inside of one side of the bight and wrap it there (as opposed to wrapping down and outside the bight. ) Then finish the knot by...
I need to hang your sig in my woodshop.
Mine can be taken figuratively or, if the case arises, literally.
If your first shot doesn't hit me center of mass, my double-tap will surely hit yours.
So, I have all these oak boards in the back of my truck for an oak file cabinet and went to grab the ratchet straps (which I loathe) when suddenly, HEY! JAM KNOT! I chose to tie a bowline as the...
Good link! Thanks!
Well, this forum just has too many great ideas! I have read and read and read and gained a ton of information. However, that ton is spread over 50 acres of brain matter and thus, can't make heads...
Oh, I hear ya brother! Seems I had to purchase a camper shell to fit my F150 in order to haul all the "stuff" up to Mackinaw this year (and who's idea was it to bring the kids!) So, weight is not...
I hear ya! Heading out for a four day backwoods camp out in Southern Michigan with my son. Gonna be fun and long overdue this year.
Hi-de-ho, neighbor! Thanks for sharing your hanging adventure! Nice bunch here. Real helpful.
Mike
I went with the 1/8" Amsteel Blue and got some 7/64th ......because.....it goes nice with my eyes.......It is great stuff and my whoopies are working great. Good advice here. That's for sure. Good...
Oh, well. I was famous for a little while anyways.....
I love a challenge.....:)
Thanks for your humorously detailed reply. I appreciate you folks sharing your knowledge....and your time.
Happy Hangin'!
Mike
So......my trees are 20 feet apart, the straps attach as high as I can reach up (just over 6 feet), my SRL is 100" of 7/64th Amsteel, and I'm using my new WS attached to the hammock ends and Marlin...
I'm a real noob to this forum, but I do know that 550, while great for other things, will stretch to beat the band in a ridge line and Amsteel will not.
Keep us posted!
Ok, I think I might have missed something....
I watched this vid from Opie0074 on how to attach a whoopie to a hammock. But with the fixed eye lark headed to the hammock, then the adjustable end...
Lazy River Road, thanks. Working on that issue right now.
M
O-tay.....I made a Whoopie Sling. Couple of questions:
I started with about 12' of Amsteel Blue. Made my IN marks about 4" each way from the center and my OUT marks 10" each way from the IN...
Thanks.
Yes, I've read 100's of tips on Whoopies (all good) and was still a bit befuddled. Kinda chopped up into tiny bits hear and there.
However, Thanks! You gave me what I needed to know...
Ok, it's late here and I've read about all I can read for this day. Tons of info on these Whoopie Slings. I seen so many vids on these things that I'm seeing Whoopies everywhere!
I don't even...
Thanks Scott. Placed my order before I even knew about the discount. Like Wonder Monkey, I will have to figure out what to do with all this cordage.
Again, thanks very muchly!
Mike
Holy Moly! That's a lot of options.
Thanks!
Boris, I'll get right on that Christmas gift for ya. You can begin to hold your breath.......starting......now!
Mike
What is the needle called that you use to make the Whoopie Sling and where can they be had?
Thanks.
M
Well, isn't this an interesting bunch. I go away for a short time and come back to learn something really cool. I ordered some Amsteel blue from Redden Marine and THEY know you folks! I learned...
Deer Man, you make a solid point that has bothered me since I stumbled on this great site. I use climbing beaners in the configuration of A and B since I see no practical way for me to use C (even...
That's a legitimate question, lvleph. I guess I would say you can take the man out of Vietnam, but it's hard to get the Vietnam out of the man.
I do appreciate your link to the Travel Hammocks.

Hello,
I reckon this would be the place to ask a hammock question.
I am looking for a simple, one man hammock. It is like the olive drab super hammock found on many military surplus sites. ...
