Staying on the topic of anchors; has anyone had a failure of an anchor due to rain? One of the reason's I started using hammocks when backpacking was the increased protection from ground flowing...
If there is a question about shock cord breaking, try using Dyneema shock cord (I get mine at West Marine). Much less stretchy, UV resistant, and when fully extended much stronger.

Came up with this to keep all those bits of line separate. Just a length of bungee, some 2 hole cord locks, and some grip ends. Not revolutionary, but it helps me. ...
That was my thinking as well, that the LA would not abrade either Dynaglide or Venom as much as TT. I'm willing to exchange just over twice the weight (albit very small) for the LA and the increase...
I usually use turtle ties with 1" Venom webbing, or if the distance is too much for the length of Venom, an extension of dynaglide from a MSH to the turtle tie. This has worked fine.
But the hole...
I made a 0.33oz DCF sleeve for my hammock that I can attach to my suspension, under the deployed tarp. This way I can position the hammock, sag, height, and side-to-side position, under the tarp...
My XL is coming this week! So excited for car camping trips this summer!
Have seen so many of the hitch mounted hammock stands on facebook, all the same sales video, about a dozen different...
I purchased a half-zip in Cloud71. The fabric stretches more than Hex1.0, so much so compared to the zipper that sitting in it is uncomfortable. The fabric sags so much for my butt, so the zipper...
Recently just got one Treez. Stripped down I got the weight down to 29oz with 30cm booms. Thought about taking the foam off, as I don't ever plan on using this as a hiking pole, but probably will...
I just got a set of ringworms to go on my tarp. They are intended to snap onto bungee, but I was a bit hesitant of using bungee for durability in such a critical situation (from wear and tear).

Excuse this if this method has already been mentioned in this thread!
I've been using the BH for a while now, and did find it a bit hard to untie. I was also still carrying Ti toggles; why not...
Sometimes I'm not confident as to how much of the underquilt is under my feet. Seeing the corner of my underquilt slightly above the edge of my hammock would be nice, in the black night of the...
Paid today, forgot to add my forum name to it. Also, your quota for PMs is allotted :)

Planning out a hammock; so I gather (ha!) that a cat cut end the other way (removing fabric from the middle on the ends, so concave ends) would increase the potential calf ridge? I was thinking it...
I'll be there, driving up from San Diego, for the weekend. Anyone want to carpool?
Steve
This topic has been hashed out numerous times on backpackinglight. Stories of military down bags that haven't seen the light of day from vacuum compression; the bag simply takes longer to loft up...
In reference to the op choice of a tarp from Bearpaw; beware, there is quite a thread at backpackinglight with many a hiker's bad experience with that company. Zpacks or HG are known for good...
Sorry, I did not have the right etiquette of this forum; how about "I'll take the tarp" (I have Private Messaged the OP that I just need the paypal address)
Thanks!!
Steve
PM on the tarp, can pay now.
Steve
I got the tarp on order, can't wait.
So who is going to be the first to put a mp3 file together of the sound of rain under a dyneema tarp? I could sleep to that...
Coming from the ground (bug bivy and tarp setup) and finally jumping in with the hang after 18 years of backpacking. I recently starting making hammock seats (30" by 52") and after all the reading I...
